I bought your titanium hexar that’s in this video. Thanks for selling it to me, I’ve been enjoying using it. I’d actually watched this video a few weeks before buying it but only just realised it’s the same one now.
Ah what a wild coincidence! You must have got it from James, he didn't have it for very long and used my same listing pictures when he sold it on. Lucky number 341.
I own a Hexar AF too,and recently I shot 3 rolls of expired Ektar 100 with manual focus. I found it became more a snapshot beast with the focus-movement-skipped rapid shutter action and the silent mode. I mainly set the distance to 3 m and also used manual exposure, mainly stopped to F8, combining sunny 16 and the builtin-metering results. At this setup I can get approximately 1.9m-6m in focus, which is a comfortable composing distance to myself, and I found it a person at 3m distance usually shows his upper body in the frame. I thought I had a great time with this setup, but my rolls are still on the way delivering to the processing studio. I can’t wait to see if I messed up the exposure and manual focusing… and the great moments I thought I have captured on the streets.

Great video. I would've chosen comedy, simply due to the lady with the long blonde hair standing next to him. He probably notices all the luscious locks around him on a daily basis. Yet, he chooses to take himself out of the dating marketplace by not even attempting to cover his patch with a nice felt fedora. "Take me as I am," he protests, and for that I can respect it. Btw, beautiful website, I enjoy its simplicity.

How did you manage to get the flash setting to fit with the camera settings? I bought a random single pin flash but I’m not sure how both will work in conjunction on the auto mode
Yeah I'll keep af on unless a specific situation needs mf like shooting through windows, mirrors or if I want to pull the exposure metering from something outside of the frame. This happens to me as well, I mean the first shot I try in this video it happens. It's that the camera doesn't fire unless you've locked in a focus point. While some auto cameras will lock the distance of the subject you've aimed at on half press only electronically and then on completing that press will make the physical lens movements followed by the shutter resulting in a tiny bit of a delay from shutter press to frame capture, the hexar makes it's movements at half press so at the full press the frame will be instant. I like this because it's like at the decisive moment you complete that press, that will be your image. This is sometimes tripped up though because you can't fully press the shutter in one motion. It's a fraction of a second but you need to hit the half press mark first so the lens can complete it's focusing movements, if you continue to full press before it completes the movement, the shutter won't fire. The focus needs to be locked, green circle in the viewfinder before the shutter will release.
@@allgoodstreet Yeah, it must be because sometimes I don’t hold the first focus lock hard enough because it feels like it unlocks and refocuses when I recompose sometimes. You’ve really got to hold it there and then squeeze. It’s not like an SLR where you get that obvious shutter sound that tells you you’re done. Anyways, I love the pics when this camera gets the it right. Glass is amazing.
@@doozledumbler5393 Oh you know what, the way you've described that sounds more like the sticky shutter button symptoms. @@allgoodstreet Tbh, I've suspected it's that but mentally I always put it down to maybe it's because the shutter speed was well above 250 and exposure wasn't right. But that would probably have it's own indictor. I'll have to try the sticky shutter cleaning.

Oh lovely! What's your serial number? There was only 1000 ever produced so along with time taking a few commission, breakages, a few more locked away and forgotten about in someone's cupboard.. There mustn't be many left out on the streets still absorbing light!
@@allgoodstreet Well mine is absorbing light and I'm pleased that it's working perfectly. However, in the past I was unobtrusive with my Hexar af. Now with the resurgence in film, people are starting to ask me whether it's a film camera. Now Im not quite as invisible on the street. 📸
I came across one of these at a relatively low price and was dead set on getting it, glad I decided to look some reviews up. I really don't like the results from the lens, don't know why but I just don't. Great video, and thanks for helping me save some money!

Always used in manual with a flash. Yeah, the auto mode with flash on this camera is still a mystery yet to be unravelled.
