    Hi everyone 👋I have now learnt a bit more about this quilt, and have taken it out for its first wild camp. Check my recent videos (or click on the card at the end of this video) to see how I got on with it (plot spoiler: I love it!).

    I love my corus 20 quilt, I wouldn’t go back to a bag now, its perfect as it is for summer use and then I pair it up with down equipment to make it warmer to keep using it in winter and was out in -6c and was warm enough in my xtherm

    • @joinmeoutdoors
      @joinmeoutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      I really like the sound of your setup there, so I hope I get on well with my quilt and can do something similar to keep the winter weight down. I do sleep quite cold though, so the jury's still out!

    Hi,
    Thanks for the review.
    What width pad are you using?

    • @joinmeoutdoors
      @joinmeoutdoors  Рік тому +1

      Hi Alex. I used a Thermarest NeoAir Xtherm Max Regular Wide, which is 64 cm wide.

      And the regular straps work fine with a wide pad?

    • @joinmeoutdoors
      @joinmeoutdoors  Рік тому +1

      Yep, absolutely fine (they are elasticated as well as being adjustable) 👍

    Looks awesome! I may buy one or 350 one day. For now im using Sierra Design Cloud 400 which is like sleeping bag and quilt put together and like it alot but its a bit warm for summer hikes and cannot open in legs making me sweaty a bit.
    With this Cumulus you can do whatever. I sold my Rabs also they are ok but defo not so comfy like out bags/quilts.
    I am polish also so maybe I could buy it, deliver to my family home and pick it up once im there on holiday so no tax to pay when coming with it ;)

      I think all quilts should do what the Cumulus quilts do! The temperature will be over 15°C in the night this weekend, so I think being able to open the quilt right out will be perfect. I imagine a sleeping bag would be really uncomfortable in those temperatures. You will save lots of money if you have your quilt delivered to Poland - great idea! Thanks for watching 👍

      @@joinmeoutdoors Yeah 100% I also bought new Exos 58, switching from Atmos 65 to save weight as well just like you lol and go a trekking pole tent Trekker 1.0 seems awesome weights 1.2 kg so should be much better to walk lighter. I just hope I can fit everything in my pack lol I want to head out here near Edinburgh.

      @joinmeoutdoors  2 роки тому

      @@gregoryoutdoors We are basically living the same life as each other then 🤣 I'm actually finding my Exos 48 to be bigger than I need, which was a surprise. The lid comes off, which probably brings it down to about 45 litres. I think the 38 would have been big enough for me in hindsight, so I think you'll be fine with the 58. Scotland should be a good adventure!

    Really good review. It was my first trip with xtherm recently (see my channel) it was 8.8 deg with a -1 comfort bag and no thermals just a Berghaus jacket. Do you think the quilt wd be ok? Ps. If I came to your house I’d have to throw a grenade in there to make it untidy enough for me to feel at home. 🤣

      Thanks Pete. I watched your video earlier on today and left a comment 😊 Those conditions sound like about the minimum temp I'm wanting to use the Cumulus quilt in - possibly wearing two layers. The proof will be in the pudding though! Did you just threaten to bomb my house?! This took a nasty turn 😂

    I’ve the Sea to Summit Ember 111 and would never go back to a sleeping bag. It’s been down to -6 and still toasty. A good sleeping mat is a must though. Atb. Hardy

    Hi, Love the look of this but not sure about all the additional costs. How much did it cost you to get this into the UK?

    • @joinmeoutdoors
      @joinmeoutdoors  2 роки тому

      Hi Peter. I've just looked up the emails from when I bought my Quilt 250 in May this year - the quilt came out at £211 including shipping, and then there was £58 to pay in import duty, so it came out at £270 all in. I did find one UK company selling Cumulus quilts at the time (based in Scotland, from memory), but I couldn't get a response out of them at the time.

    I love my ugq 20 degree quilt but I was looking for something for the warmer nights this just might fit the bill

    • @joinmeoutdoors
      @joinmeoutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah I can imagine that would get a bit warm in the summer month, and unnecessarily bulky perhaps? Cumulus offer a range of different weights, plus you can even customise them by adding extra down and choosing your own colours etc before you place your order, so if you already know the fill weight (and fill power) of your UGQ quilt, you could probably have a guess at the fill weight you'd need, and tailor your next quilt accordingly.

    Can't knock the weight and the temp rating. To get a bag at that weight you're looking at bags with maybe a +10 rating. Will be interesting to see how you get on with it when camping.
