I'd personally like to call this Quackity has abandonment issues cause of that basically dead karnapity marriage so he warns tubbo about going back to ranboo (even though they never separated in the first place cause whatever)

I like to imagine that Big Q's doing this since Tubbo's his step-son. I hc that schlatt was tubbo's father and when he died, Big Q became his step father. With the whole Karlnapity fiasco too, Quackity just doesn't want Tubbo to get hurt like he did.

It just hit me really hard with the lyrics “that’s how fast he’ll leave you” and it showing Sapnap and Karl leaving, it made the “I won’t say I told you so” sound so much more- like- heartbroken. It just adds so much emotion to the animatic in the sense that Quackity is genuinely trying to save Tubbo from a heartbreak like his and I love it- great job!!!

True- but he’s still manipulating him and basically making tubbos view of him morph into Schlatt. He seems to be doing this due to his own selfish reasons, showing he’s more so still the antagonist in a way. Although, there m I g h t be room for change. Personally I think he’s too far gone.

My idea of this is abandonment issues. Quackity has never had someone stay around forever. Schlatt treated him like shit then died. He thought he had Sapnap and Karl but then -in his eyes- abandoned him too. He feels like if Tubbo finds anyone else, he'd never come back. Besides, Quackity has never had a stable healthy relationship. He's a mix between "Don't leave me- I'll do whatever it takes to get you to stay" and "I don't want you hurt the same way I was"
He's a good person at heart, but he's been through so much shit he can't properly express that anymore.

I love this because you can either see this as Quackity manipulating him or Quackity trying to save him from a love in which he regrets. Quackity was engaged to Eret, Married to Schlatt, Engaged to Karl and Sapnap and none of his relationships ever turned out for the better so,, He either is warning the child or keeping the child.
i think its both. on one hand its Manipulation, because you know c!Tubbo is a person liked by many and has suprisingly a lot of power, but is also very naive. but on the other hand c!Quackity cares more about him than he wants to admit, so he is also warning him. because of his own past experiences.

Every scene and frame is beautiful. Animation, facial expression, shading, colors, all of it! And the credits at the end showing Tubbo and Quackity as puppets! I will cry-
To be honest this was less of Quackity being a villain and more of him hurting. When Tubbo said "I think he likes me. " Quackity got triggered by how he heard himself say that in the beginning of his own relationship. He saw Tubbo as himself and tried to protect him. But when Tubbo said no he got angry. "He doesn't't know what he's doing. How the consequences will be worse later."
First- I fucking love this version of Tubbo you draw, the heterochromia is always amazing. Second damn this is good and those flashes and the wing shows and augh Karl and Sapnap leaving when Quackity said that line- brilliant. God I love your animatics they work so well with the song lyrics and they look so good.
As a Quackity kin this kinda hurt to watch but it was stunningly drawn and gives even more depth to Tubbo, as well as the song and animatic itself fit with each other and we’re well timed. Overall, good AU, even greater talent!
Rewatching this masterpiece once again, and it inly now struck me why does this animatic make me so emotional.
In the original movie this song is just Gothel manipulating Rapunzel, and here Quackity is also being manipulative, but the little flashbacks of Karl and Sapnap show that he does believe in what he is saying. Unlike Gothel, there is an element of protectivness or desire to spare Tubbo some of the pain he expierienced. It' still manipulative, but coming from a different place than Gothel was, very interesting, I love your take on those characters.

The song really fits with c!Quackity’s personality with him being very bitter and resentful even when trying to get others to understand his perspective

I like how this interpretation is fundamentally different from the original song however still uses the song perfectly to get the story across.
Firstly, I can only assume Quackity is the “mother” in this scenario because he was engaged to Schlatt, who many headcanon as Tubbo’s father, and going along with that, Quackity would’ve been a parental figure towards Tubbo too. Going off this assumption and seeing Schlatt flash in there, showing how Quackity is becoming like him…ooh, chills
But I think what I really mean about how it’s fundamentally different from the original song but still perfect is that the dialogue matches perfectly but the intent is different. Gothel was just being uncaring and manipulative, but here Quackity clearly has good intent. Because he’s been in shitty relationships. He’s been abused and abandoned, the abandonment really being the key here. He was abandoned by his partners and he doesn’t want to see that happen to Tubbo. He’s genuinely trying to protect Tubbo, and that’s why he’s getting so emotional over it. :(
And seeing them make a reference to an ambiguous “he” without clarifying but knowing instantly that of course it’s Ranboo…good. That’s good. You shouldn’t need to explain everything for viewers to understand. I like it when I pick up on what unexplained things mean by myself. You did good

I know that this is dream SMP lore but at the same time it does seem like it’s for Qsmp lore too! The weird part is that even though it’s for DSMP and totally unrelated to Qsmp if you change a few things it could be a Qsmp animatic!

my favorite detail of this is towards the end when Quackity's wings are towering over him, but he doesn't actually have them out. tubbo knows they exist, tubbo knows they're there, and he knows the defensive wing raise (for context most animals will raise their limbs to make them seem bigger, and wings are limbs) showing extreme emotion

The expressions are right on point and are really expressive in general, and the designs for Tubbo and Quakity are spot on and are stunning! Plus the small details like the wings and Karl and Sapnap are amazing as well!

Yooo this is so dope, even after a year! I like to interpret the part where Quackity has a shadow with wings as like, he used to have them, but then Schlatt cut/ripped them off or something.
I dunno why but in this I feel the only reason why Quackity is so against Tubbo being with Ranboo is because love has never worked out for him in the smp, with all of his previous relationships, so of course he thinks he's doing "What's best" because he's been through that pain and thinks he's right because love is dead.

Hmmm the end scene is interesting. We have both tubbo and quackity as puppets. Except while Quackity is still strung up high by his strings, Tubbo managed to break out of his or at least isn't being held by whoever is holding the other end. Either this represents destiny and Tubbo broke off from the path set for him to separate from Ranboo and instead chooses to stay with him orrr the strings represent hate and resentment which still "controls" Quackity" and which Tubbo manage to let get of.
Tubbo won't be held back by whatever keeps him from being back with Ranboo. Quackity on the other hand is still anguished over his failed marriages and will still continue to let it consume and control his every action and thought.
So basically quackity is controlled by his fear of being abandoned and so he tried to warn Tubbo but he said No refusing to be control by quackity fear

The part where u put the flash transition from Shlatt to Q and when u showed Sap and Karl leaving Quackity.. just chills. Absolutely incredible work. U can tell Q was speaking from his heart, from experience, and wanted to look out for Tubbo but sometimes doesn’t have the best way of showing it
