The French nation are back stabbers so don't be surprised when they smile at you. They have no intention of preventing illegal migrants crossing the channel whcih they could easily do in 5 minutes by accepting illegal migrants back to France. During the Falklands conflict their armed forces were trianing the Argentinians on how to use and maintain exocet missiles which killed many of our sailors. Their farmers, fishermen, port workers and immigration officers often strike and close the channel crossing which by the way is illegal under EU law but it never stopped them. Not forgetting how we helped them in 2 world wars. As I said they will smile at you and when you turn your back they will knife you in the back.

@@andynixon2820 The French (and German) politicians have treated us shamefully during the Brexit process. The idea that Brexit-supporters are anti-European is bizarre, since democracy is a core European value and this referendum was the ultimate embodiment of that.
Funny how the British think that we don’t like them. I’ve heard many people from England say that they don’t like the French, but never even once a French say something like that. Same for the Italians. We love our European neighbors. Wars are over between each other for decades..
If I may, we get a lot of negative stories of what is going on in the U.K. and think that if the same basic element goes to France that will be your lasting impression of us. As for our view of the French, it is almost a sport to imply something negative about the French in humour. If someone said something directly negative about the French they would be deemed to be a bigot and there opinion would have little value. My opinion: we are like both hands, the same but opposite. Both hands are equal and can easily work together.
@@Leila2023_ Hi Leila, I'm really not a picky eater, but as an American it seems like the people who enjoy British food are within the borders of the country alone. That said, I think the Brits have many other merits that far overshadow this. Nice food is great, but a backbone and conviction that seems prevalent in your society is what kept the Nazis from either winning WWII, or making it substantially bloodier. From what I can see, that endures today and it matters. Also, of the cities I've visited here in Germany, in France, in Belgium, and in Italy, there is no place that could compare to the city of London. Finally, I think the EPL is the best football in the world in terms of overall quality of play. Disagree if people hate on food that you like, but I think it is true that most of the world finds British cuisine to be peculiar if not unpalatable. That coupled with the typical British "aloofness" make for easy targets.

Hey guys, well I’m English and I have to say I love the french and France, Paris is amazing but I also love Italians and Italy and I would happily live in either country. Both have amazing art history so as an artist…. It would be heaven ❤️❤️❤️
This made me laugh, especially the part about British cooking. Years ago, I was stationed in Naples, Italy at the headquarters for Allied Forces Southern Europe. It was my second assignment in the US Army, and was a very exciting and stimulating place to live and work, since there were military and civilians from all over Europe and America stationed on that base and working and relaxing in close, daily proximity to each other. I always remember those three years with a lot of fondness and joy since I learned so much about living in Italy and about Europeans as a whole. Sometime in the middle of that tour, some one who was British told me a joke that goes like this: "In Heaven: the cooks are French, the policemen are English, the mechanics are German, the lovers are Italian and the bankers are Swiss. In Hell: the cooks are English, the policemen are German, the mechanics are French, the lovers are Swiss and the bankers are Italian."
French cooking is crap and so very over-rated, especially the "Haute Cuisine". It's all sauces and art on a plate instead of canvas but leaves you hungry and disappointed. The use of all that butter, cream and cheese is not good for health, and the bread is rubbish. English bread is a nicer texture and the loaf a better shape than baguettes or boules especially for making toast and sandwiches. When you eat a good roast with Yorkshire puddings and all the trimmings you don't feel hungry for the rest of the day. Since Britain is so multicultural our most popular food is not even 'fish and chips' (as the EU allowing France and Spain to over fish the English Channel has made fish so expensive) but Curry - 'Chicken Tikka Marsala' invented in Birmingham!
Went to France back in April first time . Loved it great people and places and the bread is on another level. Didn't know what to expect but happily found everyone very friendly and more than willing to help me communicate with my extremely poor knowledge of the French language. 👍
Every times i meet a foreigner who speak french even a few phrases or word, i feel so pleased that somebody even take time to learn part of my so insanely complex language^^' Thank u for that it feel really nice :)
It's great to hear such nice comments. I've always respected the French because they are not afraid to stand up to what is right. Even at their own government's. Which we don't do enough. So big respect to the French.👍
I'm surprised by the many positive comments considering we're national rivals in most things. My opinion on the French is that they seem a lot more passionate in both a positive and negative sense. The positive side is that they are more open in their emotions than we are. This also shows in their art, culture and national character. The negative side of this is that the French can also let their emotions get the better of them, though this may be a fault of the British media. Love France and the French people. From England with love!
The national rivals thing is only one sided I'm afraid: the Brits think they are rivals of the French, and that the French see it that way too. But the reality is that French people are unaware of it.
Les anglais sont très sympas. J'aime beaucoup leur manière d'esprit et j'adore comment ils parlent l'anglais...leur accents et personnalité sont incroyables.
From our experience we have been accepted as immigrants. I began visiting France in 1975 and some years had 2,3 even 4 visits per year. Me and my family moved permanently in 2003. We retired recently, I worked continuously in a Fromagerie, my wife retrained to work in the care sector, she is also a local councillor. We have had almost no negative reaction from the locals (there are xenophobes worldwide) and have many French friends.
In the late 1980's I had my first holiday in Paris. I met some lovely people. Helpful and patient with my school girl French. One night in a restaurant, we were included in a small anniversary party. They just kept passing the food and wine down the tables to us! One lady helped by swapping some francs for pounds for us when we found the exchange had closed and we needed to buy some food. At another restaurant, the chef sent out several deserts for us to try for free. It was a wonderful time. I don't think French people would recieve such a welcome in England but I would hope that they would.
I like the french accent when they speak English or French of course. I admire their working people for their militant protest, also the fashion is very simple but looks good.
I was surprised to hear some of the French people in this saying they enjoyed our British accent - I guess the grass is always greener on the other side, surely French is the most beautiful language in the world!
I didn't even think of that, but I agree with you that French is just a gorgeous language. Italian and Spanish are also beautiful, but French has that certain je ne sais quoi (pun intended).
The people interviewed are correct about the food. In Britain our home food is very quick, easy to make and basic. We don't have the notion of going for fresh food everyday, we just buy our food once a week and it lasts us until the next week. In our nicer restaurants though the food is world class.

Its interesting because here in Spain our reputation is generally not so great unfortunately. I absolutely love France - don't speak it as well as I'd like, as all my French colleagues always want to talk to me to practice their English (which is always excellent, even though they always apologise for their "bad" English!). Lovely people, great cuisine (not a fan of some of it. especially Foie Gras, escargots, and what I like to term at business lunches as "mystery food" - not even the French can tell me what we're eating half the time - but it looks nice. I was once helping myself to a plate of profiteroles, expecting a nice dessert, but inside was minced snails and garlic - so that was a surprise! Love the cities, the countryside. I'm glad as nations we get on pretty well. I do wonder though why I've never seen any French comedy in the UK in the same way that a few people understood some of our traditional TV comedy from years gone by (and slightly more modern). We do seem to have very different senses of humour as nations so closely located to each other!
I am Argentina but I lived in France and England and I noticed many relationships between people from both countries, mainly between French men and British women I think both countries like each other a lot There are many British Francophiles such as Charles Dickens, Nancy Mitford, Jane Birkin, Charlotte Rampling and others
My great great grandfather was a soldier, and had a French girlfriend 1919. Relationships only exist because of chemistry and proximity.. doesn't mean anything ,it's not our business so who cares?
I think France and GB are like squabbling siblings. We bicker at each other from time to time, but if some other nation comes along and starts something we immediately jump to the aid of the other. Deep down we get along. Also the French have the best sounding language anywhere in the World, bar none!
Yes, you are right. From the XIX° century, quite early actually (just after the fall of Napoleon), France and UK started to become very close allies. Louis XVIII of France was an anglophile. Queen Victoria was a good friend of king Louis-Philippe and above all of Napoleon III and Eugénie (their son, the Prince impérial moreover died fighting as a British soldier in South Africa). I guess what made this rapprochement possible is that France gradually became a parliamentary régime and then a democratic Republic. Democracies rarely are at war. Unfortunately, the fall of France in 1940 started a difficult times till 1944. We were lucky that Churchill, even if he does not really appreciate him, support De Gaulle during the war 😉
An enjoyable video, perhaps stumbling on differences culturally, and commonalities of the desire to be loved by each other. France has an embarrassment of cultural riches, and Britain has some too. Our history's are similar and different at the same time, resulting in what we are today. Let's hope most people pause occasionally to consider how lucky we are. May the road rise-up to you. Robert

They have no intention of preventing illegal migrants crossing the channel whcih they could easily do in 5 minutes by accepting illegal migrants back to France.

Sometime in the middle of that tour, some one who was British told me a joke that goes like this:
"In Heaven: the cooks are French,
the policemen are English,
the mechanics are German,
the lovers are Italian
and the bankers are Swiss.

I’m legitimately scared to see if you guys have a similar video on Americans. But, given the surprisingly friendly attitude towards the British, perhaps it won’t be so bad. 🤷🏻♂️
We’ve got one and you’ll be surprised 🤗
nah UK is our young brother who piss us off for ages but well....with time (centruries), we tend to not kill each other at once...the USA is our strong dumb brother who listen noone and we can point to someone and say: oh, he said [insert whatever], attack!! and see him goo waaaaraggghhhhhh!!! we like him but well he's not bright at all, better to have a conversation with UK..... =), that would be a family portrait..
There are still many French people who understand that, if it wasn't for us Americans, they would all probably be speaking German by now.

I know these are generalizations, but I like these videos, it's funny that we have a more or less clear image of people from other countries, and it's fun to hear these opinions.
The general opinion about the French here in Spain is... interesting, as said that girl while describing the British cuisine, I had always heard that they are very "reserved", very difficult to deal with, but I have to say that when I was there I was very pleasantly surprised, everyone was there very friendly and I had a great few days.
I have already commented on the impression I had of the Brits on the Easy English channel (very polite, always apologizing, etc).
Sorry to write in English and not French ... I'm still busy with Italian and Greek at the moment, but I'm looking forward to getting started with French soon!
See you soon! 🤗😉
By the way, I agree. I have tried both cuisines, and I can say that I prefer the French one... sorry, Brits pals! 😉
Merci Mano ! Au plaisir de te relire en français.
@@EasyFrench merci! j'espere!
Very nice comments from the French interviewed. I always love going to France.
As an Englishman who lived for a while in France I'd like to reciprocate by saying that I like the French. I had many good friends when I was there and they helped to make my stay very happy.
Perfect channel to follow along with if you’re sort of deep into duolingo French.
We have so much history it’s just like brothers that argue lol
Its interesting because here in Spain our reputation is generally not so great unfortunately. Here its all wrapped up in getting drunk and falling off balconies etc, whereas France isn't as much a drink all you can destination. For many of us its really quite embarrassing at the moment to be British in Europe (for obvious reasons) so I'm happy with the positive comments.
I agree, I think we got off lite.
I feel that most well adjusted people will like most other people if they take the time to understand their culture. It is only a lack of understanding that separates us.
@@MrJoeshipley In the case of the French people liking the English I'm pretty sure it is the opposite. French people don't speak english that well and are unaware of the cultural French bashing that happens in the UK and US . If they knew all the crap that is being thrown at them in english speaking countries they would probably not have such a positive view
how do you manage to fall off spanish balconies? i wonder!
@@niksarass I feel like the vast majority of French-bashing is just friendly ribbing, like that directed at an enemy sports team.
I have always loved France and the French people from my first trip there when I was 12 years old and I have returned to France, to lots of different regions many, many times since then. I love the hearing the French people speaking their own very beautiful language and always try hard to speak French to the best of my ability, which the French people seem to really appreciate. The French have wonderful style and French cuisine is one of my favourites. I think British cuisine and especially the quality of the food in our restaurants has improved greatly over the last 20 years and is very multi-cultural which I enjoy. Vive La France 🇫🇷❤🇬🇧
I feel like most people here and in France in general when asked about "british people" their first thought goes to english people and especially Londoners. That's why it would have been nice of you to instist on the fact that your were asking about all of Britain including Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales and not just England to make sure their answer would actually fit the initial question.
Fab episode EF team 💛💛
Lovely to hear comments about our humour and music… just need to work on our cuisine, I will attempt to cook all 3 of you a traditional roast dinner if you come to Brighton and prove some of us Brits can actually cook 👨🍳 😂😂

There is exceptional food in the UK, but you have to look for it. If you walk into any random pub on the corner, you're very likely to get crap food. You need to search the good places. France is a little different, where the overall standard of food everywhere is higher. It's there in the UK too, but you have to know what you're looking for and it requires a bit of effort on your part.

But the negative comments about our…”cuisine”, I totally agree with. If I had an exchange guest, I would cook for them from scratch, something Indian or Italian. That poor girl being served grilled cheese and told it was “home made”! 😞
There’s plenty of homemade English dishes that are perfectly alright. Key word is ‘homemade’ though.
I love France and the people. They are very kind, pleasant and have a very relaxed attitude to most things. We need to talk more! In both languages!
Thank you ladies ! Only you keep my interest in continuing to learn French
Brilliant, I enjoyed this video so much, I am English and was listening to French pop music from the sixties (wonderful), then I start getting references to learning French to which I'd never really considered before. But...........after having a pre ordained impression that the French really did not like us English, and then seeing this video, a 90 degree turn needs to happen. I thank the lovely people on here who have been positive about us, yes, I understand the food thingy, but it's who we are. The least I can, and will do now, is to learn some French, and give them my best jokes. Thank you to those excellent people you interviewed.

How lovely to hear as a British person! I would say that French is probably the most beautiful sounding language and I love the architecture over there as well.
Very interesting video! If I had to make one piece of criticism, I would avoid translating "les Anglais" by "the Brits", as this term (which should be translated by "les Britanniques") also includes the Scots, the Welsh and the Northern Irish. British people are much more than the English! Apart from that, very good job, I'm really looking forward to seeing more video from you! A Belgian living in Scotland. :)
Thank you for your comment! You are absolutely right, but in France people tend to use "Les Anglais" to describe the Brits in general, which is "un abus de langage" of course, but that's usually the word people use, much more than "Les Britanniques"
@@EasyFrench That's very true! And the point is to show which terms French speakers use colloquially, which makes sense! Thanks again for the video! :)
When the English talk about the French, they don't make any special distinctions about the 'Chtis, the Alsaciens, the Corsicans, the Bretons, and so on. There is no disrespect intended, that's just how it is.... it's the same when most French people talk about "les Anglais"... They are not deliberately ignoring the Scots, Welsh and Irish.....
I personally feel that the French - like the Germans and the Italians - are far more positive and gracious about the Brits than many Brits are about the French, Germans, and Italians - to speak only of some of the Europeans I have encountered. I was in a bar in Germany once with a number of English guys. Some Germans at the bar in high spirits very amiably enquired "So how are our English cousins doing tonight?" You'd have to go a long way before you ever heard a group of people in an English bar asking how their "German cousins" were doing on hearing a group of strangers speaking German.
@@twangbarfly truth is English, French and Germans, in alphabetical order, are closely related, we are siblings, the dna maps don't have artificial borders. Being half Norwegian, I am, though, more germanic than Germans are ;-)

Hi
I was surprised how nice the French people were about us! I come to France one or two times a month with work. I promise our food, and how multicultural it is, is way better than the reputation it has. My vegan colleagues have a SUPER difficult time eating in France - just salad and fries.
No not all of us English like them, and just because of a few relationships, means nothing.
That means very little
@@kiwiboiianzac3572 It means that diverse people can connect, and it means a lot 🙂
Yeah nah, I would never spill my blood defending my enemy's land. Britain fought the wrong enemy 1914
Robert
