How did you verify you got all the air out? The mini OEM ISTA+ C BMW Group says a specific pattern. Besides going through all gears while braking, you then have more. Shift to manual mode, release brake, press accel little or 2500 less rpm and manually shift from 1-6 gears, and stay in 6th for 3 seconds. Shift back to 1st and remain for 3 seconds. Repeat that procedure twice. Then press brake, wait for shaft to not spin, shift to reverse, release brake, press Excel pedal lightly again to 2500 rpm and hold there for 10 seconds for ventilation. Press foot brake and shift to drive, release brake and wait 15 seconds for oil cooler ventilation, press brake and wait for shaft to stop spinning, wait 2 seconds and move selector to neutral. Never turn off engine is marked very important during this step. Then check fluid level again and temp. 😊 Great video on your building it back from damaged belt. I just did mine from same thing, dang broken belt. Actually we did all the engine gaskets at same time, never will leak again, lol. Thanks.
Excellent video! I had to replace my R50's cvt axles which caused a lot of fluid loss. Added a bit of oil through the correction port but now the mini wont even start for me to go through the leveling process, but rather it shows the EML had turned on. What would your diagnosis process walkthrough?
Many thanks Reason I ask is that I wanted to add an additive to the cvt fluid. Something called oil extreme concentrate which seems to help the viscosity of the fluid and help gear changes. I just didn't want to overfill the transmission so wanted to be able to check by opening the bottom valve and observe the drips.
Ali Neriman all I can say is open the drain and let out 1 quart or so put yours in and follow with what you took out until it comes out the inspection whole

Thanks for the video Angelfiggi! Having worked thru the previous parts in this video set I got as far as adding fluid. At around 4 quarts the fluid started pouring out of the driveshaft socket which had no driveshaft in at the time. Does any one have any ideas what I have done wrong?
Install the driveshaft. There is a plug on the bottom, remove the plug and add oil until oil comes out the plug. Turn the car on go thru the gears and check it again. That's what I did
Thanks for replying! I did wonder about that, as it was only about half a cup of fluid not all of it :). I drained the fluid out before removing the drive shafts and that was like 12 months ago so it's a bit vague... thanks again for the great tutorial!

A few questions however: 1) you said you have to go through the gears before opening the bottom valve on the transmission body, do you literally mean just going through from P to D? 2) what temperature do you have to get the car up to before you test the level from the bottom valve? 3) in the video it shows only a few drops coming out from the bottom valve and you said that you needed to put more in. Once you topped up the fluid, what happened when you opened the bottom valve? Ie what kind of flow of fluid should we see when the fluid is at the correct level Thanks
I went from park to reverse to neutral drive and back and forth. I let the transmission get to about 150 degrees before opening the the bottom plug. I added another half bottle while the car was warm and quite a bit came out but not as much as I put in and I waited until it was a few drops coming out and I replugged it. The car drive fine I haven't had an issue yet. Thanks for watching and subscribe.

I'm repairing a mini with some damage to the suspension and also needed to replace cv joints, I figure I needed to up the transmission fluid after loosing some with the drive shaft replacement. So I added some following your video, but after I thought it would have been better to replace it. But anyway, I put two littles that I thought would be sufficient. I drove the car today for first time and it looked too slow for the expectations really, did I damage something you think? It is also leaking what appears to be power steering fluid from the steering rack that I guess it was either damaged on the collision or before. I appreciate your feedback. I took on doing this project as my son loved this car when we saw it as an opportunity to learn something new! Best regards!
Fabio Alberto Granados Mendoza I did find out that the power steering motor has a recall and the dealer replaced it for free. I don't know if that helps but it's a way to go. The other thing is to take it to the dealer and let them do an adaptation to the tranny that might help to.
I think that my problem is a leaking seal but it may be worth trying to call and find out! I got the power steering rack off the car today and I'm just looking how to get it fixed. Thanks again for all your help! :)

Hi; should the wheels move with the brake calliper removed just the same? I have a CVT mini and cant work out if the CVT is dead or not, the wheels dont move with the disks/callipers removed.
angelfiggi got it, thanks! So it appears my top hex is stripped completely. If I were to use the filler pump, would I fill it through the inspection hole that you show letting out the excess fluid? I see lots of info on this for other models but none for this exact set up.
idk if u got it yet but you probably have, take out the battery box and under it will be the t55 fill port. you don’t have to take the battery out you can squeeze a swivel socket into it but removing the battery and box helps

Ali Neriman I don't think you can check it that way. Unless you were adding the fluid yourself. I don't know where the box is. There are so many.

I'm not sure. The car had lots of code when I got it. I got the car for $500 so I tried to fix it
