Female here. Hiked and camped alone all my life throughout the United States. Went to Olympic National Park. Became creeped out and unnerved on a trail. Saw nothing but knew I wasn't alone. Backed down the trail with a switch blade in one hand, pepper spray in the other. What I remember the most is the complete silence of the forest except for my breathing. Never went back.
You are wise and Faire.....you listened to the inner voice God gave us to keep us safe.......Christians call this discernment, I have been saved by these warnings many times
Somebody was watching you with the intent to harm you. I had a similar experience but in NYC of all places. Around 9pm I was walking down a empty residential street to the grocery store and suddenly my brain went on high alert. The first thing I noticed was how oddly quiet it was. I've never heard that kind of quiet before. And I couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching me. Didn't see a soul but my body was completely in flight mode. Damn near ran until I got to a busy street a couple of blocks later.
Selena Grinage Well that's true to a point. Except for how expansive forests are in the west. There's some places no one can Land in because of how dense some areas are. You'd literally have to be on foot. And you'd only get so far.
I've never understood why people jog, walk or run through the woods with earbuds or music playing in their ears. My daughter used to walk at night with earbuds, cured that by sneaking up on her. NOT SMART, your senses are for your protection. I grew up near the Everglades, you definitely don't go out alone.
Well I wear them but I usually only have one in my ear because you Always want to be Aware of Your Surroundings at all times .. Stay Safe out there Everyone !
I'm a solo hiker, when I feel like someone's watching, its always when the forest goes quiet, its super scary but you need calm nerves to get you out of there safely. I carry my Glock, blade and pepper spray. A old Indian grandmother I ran into in Yosemite once said to me, "if the forest around you sudden goes quiet and you feel like someone is watching you, walk away or run" Yosemite has so many missing hikers too
is it a supernatural thing? Read something on reddit, people with same experience get lost stumbling on something unexplainable like dark clouds chasing them, stairs, portals, fae, aliens, some freaky shit in there.
@@0nionBruh. I honestly think it is supernatural. One time a lone hiker, he walked out in front of me and found my trail, he said he’s been lost for hours and didn’t know how he ever even went off trail when he was following the dirt trail path, he said before he got lost he felt dizzy and he just remembers he felt like someone was watching him and and he blacked out. Woke up in the middle of the forrest and scared for his life. Got that right, I left back down with him bc I felt as if someone was watching me the entire time. He was elderly and I wanted to make sure he was ok too, he reported it to park rangers but of course they couldn’t do much, not like a report matters there anyways, they’ll eventually hide it. I also believe in tree spirits. I swear I’ve seen trees move a bit as if it’s alive, brings shivers down my spine just thinking about it. I hear one little noise and I stop completely still, these trees I would hear moving like a bit to the side, I know they move cause birds will fly out of it after the noise or it goes completely quiet. Heck I’ve even spoken about it to local native tribes in my town and they said I’ve just seen a tree spirit, some are evil but some are just curious.
Solo hiker here too, Monterey county where I live but I carry all those things and people think I’m crazy.. I got lost in Santa Cruz aptos area, I realized why Ed kempur got away with everything he did. Shit you not for 4 hrs I did not see 1 person, I rested and like you said it got quiet with only a crow squawking. 15 mins after a Cali hillbilly popped out behind me 5dogs all with shock collars, mind you where I came from had me sweating and wondering how I made it down.. as quick as he came he disappeared when two mountain bikers came around the corner. They were lost off the main trail for 10 mins. Pretty intense moment…The hills do have eyes 👀
@@swizzle3535 holy crap that’s scary! Glad you got out there safely! I went to oakhurst area near Yosemite recently for a small quick hike, this lady with her dog was in front of me and she said if she can hike close to me cause she felt something was off, I told her to go in front of me and I’ll be in back of her a few feet away. Sure enough a mountain lion was stalking her and her dog, she got so scared we got out of there and warned others who were behind that we passed. They all left with us, we made sure to make plenty of noise. We reported it to the rangers so they came out and stationed around that area to make sure other hikers either got out of there safely or isn’t going in without a large group. Oakhurst, CA is mountain lion territory.

@Sean Beebe Yup. Remember the Kim Family? Also in Oregon's woods: The Kim family -- parents James and Kati and children Penelope, 4, and Sabine, 7 months -- disappeared Nov. 25, 2006 as they drove to Gold Beach from Merlin, just north of Grants Pass off Interstate 5. Kati Kim, 30, and her daughters were found Dec. 4 with the car after being stuck in the snow for nine days with few supplies. James Kim, 35, was found dead two days later in a creek. He had walked more than 16 miles in the cold and snow in a futile effort to get help. - The Oregonian
You should NEVER dismiss your gut feelings. It's spot on everytime. I taught my son, listen to your very 1st thoughts about something you feel uncomfortable about. Our intuition is a guide.
I spent a month in the forest in east Oregon and I really believe it's the people out there. It's nothing supernatural, there's always a rational explanation
John Doe . Yea I kinda see what your saying. And I respect everyone's opinion. But we are talking about the people that Mistreat children and Kidnap them and sexually assault them. So if we have to use Tactics like that , then that's what needs to be done. And just because Isis be-heads people doesn't mean that no one else can. Isis doesn't have a Copy Right to be-heading people.
I remember a firefighter once say that when children are afraid in a fire they will instinctively hide. I can imagine children lost in the woods would do the same and thus become much harder to find. How absolutely terrifying it must be for a child to be lost in the woods.
I think if they're still a toddler they'll just walk and play, and if older due to cultural conditioning they'll look for any adult, THIS IS DANGER because they tell every kid that adults should be trusted for help if you're lost, but in those big unmarked woods every one/thing out there is dangerous.
When I got lost as a kid at 6 flags I just cried in the middle of a crowd till some big guy with his 2 daughters stopped, grabbed my hand, & walked me to the guard station. They gave me a balloon while I waited to get picked up lol. Point is tho, kids are unpredictable. My first thought wasn’t to hide, it was to seek help by making a scene.
Judy Malone ......that was so left wing and over exaggeration of a simple idea of keeping track of a kid.. I was commenting on the monkey backpacks leash( look it up if you don’t know what I referring too). It’s a backpack leash that keeps kids from running of.
When I was a young teenage girl I took silly risks and walked in the most unsafe isolated places which sometimes felt unsafe both in the city and wilderness. I could feel I was not alone and followed a few times but I was lucky to have the most amazing dog by my side who looked over me every single second of the day. He was the most friendliest of dogs normally but never on those walks he was always in guard dog mode without ever being trained. I got him from the shelter and he was my guardian angel for 10+ years. Once he passed I never took those risks again. Stay safe, happy and healthy out there everyone!
I got lost when I went to the wallowa mountains range, with the boy scouts.Well they took me fishing a long way from camp, and ditches me,I was a bully target as a kid.Anyway i wondered around the mountains lost no clue where i was or to go.i started crying and prayed to my father/creator to send an angel to help me show me where to go.Minutes later 2 happy laughing guys came out of the woods and up to me,saw me crying and calmed me down, told me they will show/take me to my camp.Listening to my story on the way, rather disgusted with the actions of the older scout's.Funny thing is I asked them if they were Angel's and why i thought so,they laughed ,not mokingly but joyfully happy laughter. No we aren't Angel's but we sure are glad we could help you,and walk with me every step, when we arrived at camp, the adult troop leader's didnt even know I was lost, the kids never told them. The two men who rescued me,tore the entire troop mostly directed at the adults, they told them they would never treat me like this again no more cleaning everyones fish, collecting wood, ect. They treated me somewhat, different after that, not much.I still believe they were sent our Father who takes the time to hear the quiet scared prayer of a little lost boy.
i used to venture to abandoned places in Ontario, Canada myself all the time until one time i felt a presence that I wasn't alone, it wasn't until that moment i realized how vulnerable I was in these places on my own unarmed. Trust your gut, your instincts and intuition know more than we do
I also live in Ontario and I would have to walk through the forest at night to get to my house, this one night I was walking through and all of a sudden everything went dead silent which caught me off guard, it felt like I was being followed by someone or something so I just started sprinting till I got out of there, always trust your Instincts.

During my "middle aged crisis" I was crazy enough to try caving. It was so terrifying I cancelled out and begged one of the guys to walk me back the long hilly distance to the parking lot. Nobody would so I went myself. Once I got in the car (not mine so I couldn't drive it) suddenly an older fellow was at the window staring and smiling at me. Not another soul around. I swallowed my fear and he talked a little nuts but not bad and finally left. Then my whole body shook for five minutes or so.
@@birdlynn417 That was bad bird. I had been to Arizona one time in the mines and my mind got caving mixed up with mines. I expected beautiful lights and cool rides to everywhere. Boy was I shocked and horrified. Interesting thing is, there was a regular crowd there and they loved every minute of it. To each his own.
I'm not gonna lie.... i was reading this expecting it to be similar to all the other "shared experience" stories in these comments about people being in legitimately scary outdoors situations.... but this wasn't that lol, this was you freaking out about situations that probably shouldn't have bothered you. Yes, old man approaching your car when you're alone can be quite unnerving but when you talked with him and he turned out to not have any immediate bad intentions, then you shouldn't have been "shaking for 5 mins" nor should you be shaking from the prospect of going caving/spelunking, which can be a very dangerous and scary activity true, esp if you're inexperienced but it seems like you had a a group of guys with you so tbh... it kinda just sounds like you chickened out basically... in both situations lol and that there wasn't anything actually wrong.
@@thekamotodragon Interesting perspective sunshine, and you're probably right that my fear reaction was more about the caving itself than that older guy at the car. It just made the whole experience too nervy for me. And while there were experienced cavers with me, don't kid yourself. There were two accidents right there, and one man fell down and hurt his back pretty bad. That particular cave seemed to have been a pretty challenging one.
@@annettegenovesi damn, i feel bad now for kinda ripping on you haha, because you seem nice, and I don't think i communicated my core message very well with that comment, what i guess i was really thinking when writing was that i wanted to encourage you (and others) to be stronger people and not cave (hah) in to fear, you know? I like seeing people tackle scary situations head on to better themselves but then also make logical decisions when there is genuine danger and risk. Like, I'm certainly not doubting you that that cave was probably dangerous and if it was too advanced for you, then you were right to not go in, so i support that. But also, I'll say that caving is a legitimate hobby that many thousands of people enjoy entirely safely.
I'm glad Paulides is shining a spotlight on this issue. It's not just missing kids, it's also missing backpackers, campers and hunters. We need answers. Real answers.
@@rakeshkumbhare2164 That's where "answers" comes in! When people come up missing, we need to know WHY. If the bureaucrats know, they pointedly aren't telling. If Paulides knows, he isn't telling. Good thing we have infinite patience. oh wait
And this is not a new phenomena either. I was an avid backpacker and camper 40 years ago, and we heard the stories back then about people going missing in national Parks on a regular basis. At the time a lot of those disappearances were attributed to growing operations that the campers stumbled upon. Others I suppose could be from predators or dying of natural causes way off any trails. It's an unusual number of missing persons. I don t know if clusters are significant because all these places are apparently popular and attract hikers, etc. The fact that there's no trace is baffling though.
i don't get this: the comments go on about abducted children but the video is just about how kids can wonder off and just keep going/disappear on their own. am i right?
@Mike Stanis I don't know about the comments. I am not going to scroll further down. There are quite a few issues with missing people in the US and the world that need to be researched and figured out. Whether this is animals taking people for fun or UFO aductions or better training for all search and rescues, this video is all about shedding light on the subject matter. I'm a local professional tracker that works only at the sheriff's requiest, and I am hired at least once a year to find people in the Pisgah National Forest. I will often find a trail of the suspected missing person, follow it out 5-20 miles and lose track of them again and rarely pick it back up. Sometimes it's like they go straight up rock faces despite not having appropriate gear, unconditioned, or a small child. Around 20% of these cases are just off or wrong for one reason or another. Then the park service likes to deflate the number of disappearances by never recording 1,000's that are lost and found every year. Many claim to have no memory of the event. I really believed it was medical until couple of years and now I am not so certain.
I never hike or enter the woods without being armed I spend alot of time in the woods with my beagles and I can tell you with absolute certainty you feel much better armed than unarmed
I wont go anymore without a firearm, one time on a trail not far from the back of my house a cougar crossed the trail in front of me. I froze and it must have been sheer dumb luck he didnt see me or smell me. I was just lucky that day.
The beagles are a great idea. But being armed and with years of experience hasn't stopped people from vanishing. A self locator beacon and respect for the environment is your best bet of that not happening.
My ex was there in the mountain area where Derrick supposedly got lost. He was out there scouting for a Christmas tree with our young 8 year old daughter and her friend. My ex said he NEVER SAW a young boy out there. He only saw Derricks father. It was snowing lightly out. The police never questioned my ex regarding this incident. I don’t believe Derrick was ever there. My suspicion is that his father killed him.
I used to live in the woods. Every afternoon I would take my dogs for a walk. One day as we were walking along the main road, I spotted a dead 6 point buck that had been hit by a car. There were about 5 huge vultures feeding on the carcus. The next day when I was walking my dogs past the same spot, there was nothing left but the ribcage. The following day there was nothing left, not a bone. I guess what the vultures dont eat the coyotes drag off. I imagine that humans would go just as fast or faster than a full grown buck. Without a trace.
@@CaptainMorganxxx Vultures may not eat clothes but they did eat the fur and the bones and antlers were gone. I suppose that if it were a person they may have left some evidence?
In order for a case to be included in the Missing 411 clusters, any possibility of animal predation must be excluded. There is so much more to it than this. Even if every missing person was due to being eaten up by vultures and then bones hauled off by coyotes, what’s killing them in the first place? The point is that people are vanishing into thin air, their companions look away for 5 seconds and then they’re gone. A bear could not manage to do this without being noticed or leaving a bloody scene.
I always made sure we all had whistles, that way if someone couldn't be seen even for a minute wed always blow a whistle. Just hoping this might be useful to someone venturing out to explore nature.
Remember Anthony Bourdain and his show "Parts Unknown" - well, one time he was in Seattle (I think it was Seattle) and I'll never forgot a segment of that show he asked the locals, "why is the Pacific Northwest home to so many serial killers." That creeped me out so much that it's a part of the country I never want to visit.
Likely because it is so remote. In British Columbia there is a highway called the Highway of Tears. Women hitchhikers (most Indigenous) have been disappearing for years on it. If you google the highway and see how remote parts of it are, it is not shocking at all that people disappear without a trace. A predators dream for sure.
Oh well that's easy, tunnels. Made & run by the government. Look at his clusters for missing people on the u.s. map, then take a map of all the tunnels(for shipping whatever) and tell me if you see a pattern?
It's not just the parks, Mexican nationals dig tunnels all over the U.S., There's a house in my neighborhood that everybody knows they've been tunneling from for over 19 months...starting the week before the 2016 election and ending May 2018. Your guess is as good as mine what they've been "storing" down there.
It's all not necessarily man made tunnels..In Kentucky we have the biggest underground cave system in the United Stayed.."Mammoth Cave" a national park in Western KY, considered the mouth of the cavern system..In the late 50s early 60s a whole town disappeared and is believed to have entered the caves and never exited..Edmonson KY..it all could be tabloid fodder but through my investigations there is a grain of truth to the mythology..The Big South Fork in South Eastern KY, Hopkinsville, Hellier..all part of the same caverns and something very weird has happened in theses places..and the "real news" outlets refuse to report it.
When you’re out in the woods and it suddenly gets so quiet you can just about hear molecules bouncing off your ear drums it’s probably time to leave quickly…especially when the hair on the back of your neck stands up (like when you rub a ballon on your head and the static makes it stand). It’s only happened to me a few times in my life when out hiking or hunting but some primordial genetic sense kicked in. Don’t know if it was a bear, a wolf pack, cougar or something else but I paid attention and quickly went back the way I came in.
I've had that a few times too. Middle of the night usually. I've been back to those places and it hasn't happened which tells me that when I feel like I'm being watched or tracked, I probably am. Now I never go out without at least a hunting knife and titanium tactical torch.
No matter what , as Dave P. And lots of others know something is happening in our world and I think it has to do with a certain type of alien. Like the predator. Me and my fiancé had a scary moment in the Corbett wma here in Florida, We camp the area frequently and I still even hunt the area but one night we set up camp at a fairly new spot to us near some water and surrounded by woods way in the back and all was just as any other night just me , her and our dog he’s a ( Chi-weenie) .. We always keep a small fire burning all night just as a way to keep some light around the camp for comfort. Around 12 or we finally made our way into the tent and not long after sleeping, around 2 or three in the morning My eyes jolt open like I was suddenly awaken by something inside me. I immediately heard heavy heavy breathing coming from the other side of my pickup truck . I barely pick my head up and see my dog looking at me shaking… ( not even barking) I pulled him close and sushed him by saying I know softly in his ear. I than whispered to my fiancé if she she was awake and she replied immediately ( yes) whispering under her breath . Just as I slid my shotgun into my grip I heard the same type of breathing coming closer to where the first thing was standing. So I knew there was two of w.e was big enough to breathe so deep that I can’t even mimic the sounds of the upper respiratory sound that I can still hear from that night. I whispered just be quiet to both my fiancé and my dog and all three of us just laid there for what seemed like 20 mins until I heard one run towards the road through the woods exceptionally fast.. The other remained there still just breathing and making little noises when the bushes would move . Still we did not get up or try to be brave. We knew it wasn’t human or anything I hunt. I figured with the way Sasquatchs they throw rocks I would be out numbered in the dark with who knows how many are really around. My plan was if something touched the tent I would just pull the trigger at that spot and figure out the charges later. But nothing did & After a while of laying there The noise just faded away & before I knew it was gone. We came out the tent right at day break to find a new path through the brush where the noises had definitely come from. It wasn’t hogs and it wasn’t deers… dam sure wasn’t human . I still hunt the area and still camp there but as a guy with experience in camping never go unarmed!!!!!!! And never play your hand early … The element of surprise may be all you have on your side. My instincts told me stay put until provoked and I am not ashamed to say I listened.

That thing standing by the side of your pickup truck could be an agent trying to notify you about your pickup truck's extended warranty. In seriousness, it could be a bear sniffing out food. Some black bears are accustomed to going to camp sites and where people are because they know there are food.
Guys, gals. If you have a sickening feeling or any semblance of a feeling that you're being watched, then you're definitely being watched. It happened to me, and I can confirm it. When a peeping tom was staring at me from outside my window at night, I had the same sickening feeling. And I didn't even know I was being watched until my mother stormed outside and chased him out, then came to tell me about it while I was checking the window, not even fully knowing what happened yet. My mother caught him standing right in the spot where I felt the deafening disgusting stare was coming from, and it was pure intuition from both of us and from God for sure, because my mom also had no way of knowing that someone was out there watching me but she had a gut-feeling. The window was also pitch black so I couldn't see anyone outside, but I felt it like a hot rod on my back. Not even fear but pure disgust. Always listen to your cautionary gut.

We lived in tents on and off in the woods all over the west coast when I was growing up. My dad and step-mom weren't always there and I just hung out by a creek or river or lake by myself. Luckily they were usually back by the time it got dark. I can not imagine doing something like that today. A little kid in the woods alone is a recipe for all sorts of bad things. I still love being in the woods with or without company, but I have been hiking and hunting the woods over here all my life and never ever go without telling someone general area Ill be & time I expect to return, and my firearm, compass, water & emergency kit.
This is one of the things I hate the most; children disappearances.. it makes my blood boil, specially if there is an abduction 😡 Dont Hurt Children.. PERIOD!
I agree! I'm so protective of all children. They are all miracles, they need to appreciate how amazing parenthood can be. I hate that people kidnap and abuse and kill children. It's so infuriating, how could someone kill the world's first touches of innocence
The very thing that agitates me to no end is how easy it is to loose a child in this time frame with every app, pics, alerts, etc. But yet instead of solving problems, it's back to same racist crap that has nothing to do with an urgent matter, kids disappearing!!!

I live near Crater Lake and our kids are taught about the "gods of Crater Lake" in 4th grade (public school.) The natives here have stories about many different mythical creatures that live in the forests. Sasquatch, faeries, elves, magical trees, giants and various spirits; all of which are considered malevolent and most of which will take your kids. People here know better than to let their kids run amok, if not just for the simple fact of wild animals. Plus, the Pacific Northwest is very well known for its high concentration of occultist groups. Watch your kids people!
I also live close to crater lake. I have not been taught about anything other than geography of crater lake. I have six kids 11-23 they have also not been taught. Where would one find some sort of story about this please?
A friend and I went hiking way back in a trail because we knew there was a lake with a little beach where we were heading to go lay out and swim. We noticed behind us that a man was following us and was obviously trying to stay far back from us and quiet. Thankfully we both started making loud threats to him talking about how crazy we were and then both pretended to be on the phone with different people informing them. This stuff is terrifying, not as scary as these situations. I read something about stairs being found unimaginably deep in national forest parks that s&r are very aware not to go near for some reason.
I'm surprised you don't know the backstory the stairs are old apparently you walk up them and down you might accidentally never come back there's a UA-cam video about firefighters being scared to go near them even when looking for children they won't go up them some say it's the stability that no one trust after all no one knows who made the staircases but they are everywhere in the wood. Ten years ago my husband and our 5 kids went to Oregon to find a cheaper place to live. But when I notice all of the missing kids it was INSANE ! Really INSANE !
I moved to Florida 20 years ago. The very first thing i noticed on advertising flyers and also in the mail were notices for missing children, very disturbing news indeed.
Definitely not cheap to live here! Income tax, property tax & they're sneaking in sales taxes into corporate taxes which gets passed down to the consumers! Plus Portland, OR has been the number two city in the country for human trafficking beat only by Miami in the past. I believe Oregon is further down the list now tho but still!
The stories about the kids who traveled tens of miles on their own thru forest overnight are the ones that really creep me out because it's just unbelievable and makes the imagination go wild

I've seen and had some things happen on our family land that I don't just tell anyone cause of fear of being called a liar or crazy,it's 92 acres and it used to be a Indian hunting camp, finding arrowheads are common here not difficult to find, but there's also a group of graves like something happened where they had to quickly dig and bury a bunch of there dead and leave. When my brother, cousins and myself were young we were warned not to mess around alone or when the light was fading and had to have a rifle or shotgun in our group. But was never told why, well I found out when I was 14 and thought my Dad was calling me and I ended up realizing I was being led by something that was not my Dad and I had a fear that came over me and felt like something was bearing down on me and then suddenly there was no sound,I mean it's like the air was swallowing it up,I tried to pop my ears by extending my jaw to see if my hearing went out but no I heard just fine but anyway I'm ending it here but there is definitely things in this world that defies nature

Do you have young children? I spent decades in law enforcement, and children wander away from parents on a regular basis. It’s extremely easy to get disoriented in a wooded area, too. Don’t assume you know facts you don’t have. Kids _do_ go missing in forests far too often, no foul play is necessarily involved, and certainly nothing “paranormal.”
I am amazed at how many people trivialise this issue! I can’t imagine how painful and frustrating it would be to lose someone you loved in this way, and then to have people making fun of it would drive me crazy! How incredibly cruel. The families and friends of these people will never stop grieving and wondering, never draw another peaceful breath! If you’re too stupid to read the books, shut the hell up! You don’t know what you’re talking about!

I don’t believe it’s the forest people at all but can’t even hint at what it can be.. possibly a time warp!..some creature that lives below that can move super fast, even aliens .. God only knows because we don’t.. I simply wouldn’t go there and certainly not take kids with me if did. I feel so very sorry for the parents and their family’s and friends.. it has to be purely heartbreaking.
This man David Paulides now has his own UA-cam channel "CanAm Missing Project" and has made 2 movies about the many missing people. He tells people how to better protect yourself in National Parks and such. It's terrifying how the government is trying to keep it a secret of how many thousands of people missing.
I used to do Ground Search and Rescue in Oregon. This does not strike me as super natural at all. Oregon forests are huge and cluttered with trees and foliage. I remember finding the remains of a crashed DC-8 from the 1960’s. We were all over that area, but we did not see the 5 acre debris field until we were 20 feet from it. Also, when you are conducting grid searches, you do one grid at a time. It is common for lost people to wonder around and enter grids you already searched. It is why moving around is discouraged. I could go on and on, but not before making a point. Unless you have significant survival skills, do not go off the trail, and only hike well traveled trails. Everyone should be carrying some sort of emergency location device. They may cost a few hundred dollars, but they are worth every penny. Some will transmit your location every few minutes to a website so family will know exactly where you are. Some services will send warnings to family if you do not move for a while.

Ive had that silence happen to me many times in deep wilderness and also when I was in shady places in Iraq. every single time I have that happen in the woods I pack up my shit make sure my gun is loaded and get the hell out of that area. Once that silence turned into me being stalked by a very large mountain lion in BC luckily I was armed and it got distracted by my uncles dog which was following my ATV. But if silence becomes loud to you there is a very good chance something Is wrong and its time to back track immediately.
I was born in Oregon. Lived there til almost 10. There is a vivid recollection of mine where at about age 7 or so and on a hike in the woods during day camp when I became hopelessly lost. Not just confused but to the point where I couldn't even hear another child or adult's voice. You might consider here for a minute that my memory of Oregon and my years living there has remained sparkling clear to this day. I've been told from others that my memory is exceptional for that early period of my life. Well to this day I sm still dumbfounded on how I found my way out of the woods. There weren't any trails. I do recall coming across another child and she was lost too. The girl was perhaps my age or a little older. I say older because she was close to my height and few girls my age were ever my height. Suddenly the girl and I were on a familiar path. And within minutes the sounds of happy kids playing together returned. Perhaps there is a logical explanation for this happenstance. However at the time it felt like a bloody miracle.

I have a note for parents.. Please leave your small children at home, when you go camping or hiking in the great outdoors. These children, can be easy prey to predatory animals and God only knows, what else is out there! Did you ever try to run away from danger, with a small child, on your hip?? I have! It's a very difficult run on uneven ground or uphill! Leave the kiddies at home, with grandma/grandpa. Aunt/ Uncle. I wouldn't go into the woods, around my home without a gun on me. A 357, long barrel, with hollow point bullets, is good protection, as far as a pistol goes. One friend told me, she carries bear spray.. do ya realize, how close you got to get to a bear or something to use it on...? Too close, for my comfort.
I was visiting my friend in rural Maine. I went for a run along the gravel road along the lake. I got this weird feeling. I stopped, took my ear buds out, listened. Silent. Started jogging again sans ear buds. I could hear leaves crunching in time with my feet. Stopped. Silent. Did this two more times and the last time, the crunching was closer but I couldn’t see ANYTHING. By now, my fight or flight kicked in and I SPRINTED the mile back to the house. I could have set a personal record. Never jogged with ear buds ever again unless I’m in the gym and don’t go out into the wild by myself anymore either.

Hey, Kristie. Read your post. Smart to avoid earbuds. I once had a similar experience. I pursued the sound, and found a fat little robin kicking up leaves to find worms. His digging was intermittent. I volunteered to be in a search party for a missing boy who wondered off at a campsite. At the meeting beforehand I noticed this guy in old army boots and jeans. Later I would talk to him and find out he was former Army Special Forces. Anyways as we were leaving to start the search he turns to us few who were going to follow him in a group and says “you won’t be able to keep up with me, and I’ll be faster on my own”. Then he turned back and walked off into the woods. About a day and half into his hike he found a footprint and tracked the boy down. He came out 2 days later carrying the kid the whole way.

I lived and worked in our national parks for years and many of my friends still do. What I think is odd is that all these tourists are going missing in the parks yet I don't remember any employees ever going missing. I know your first thought is that employees don't go missing because we live there and know the terrain, but that's not true. We spent most of our time working in an office, hotel, or gift shops. When we did go out we didn't know anymore then a tourist. We just randomly wandered out into the wilderness and we were always stoned too. Plus those national parks are HUGE. Why are kids & tourists disappearing but never locals?
Locals anywhere are usually smelly and gross. If you visit me at home, I’m generally reeking of sweat, vomit, pickled bologna and deep fried goods. If I stay in a hotel, I then have access to facilities where I can shower and brush my tooth. There’s soap and shampoo in them showers.

You must always trust your gut feeling. I remember as an 8 year playing outside in an apartment parking lot one day. I was the only person there from what I could see. Let me add I always played outside as a kid either riding my bike or ‘looking for dinosaur bones.’ This time I was alone again in the parking lot when I suddenly had this sickening feeling like something is wrong. Keep in mind I’m only 8 with no such knowledge of looking over my shoulder or even being aware of the dangers out there. My mom never had such discussions with me about stranger danger or being careful around men in general. But something made my stomach sink that day and I ran towards a stairway that’s leads up to the apartments. The stairway itself isn’t safe as it’s behind apartments that residents hardly used. As I got all the way up the stairs I looked behind me to see what gave me that feeling and I saw the 2 men that lived across the street in another apartment complex. They’re looking up at me but stood still, like they knew it was too late to catch up to me. They lived on a 2nd story so to think today that they walked down the stairs, crossed the street and made their way into the parking lot where I was still sends shivers down my back. I know today what could have happened… but as a kid I didn’t know those dangers but always had a strong gut feeling growing up. I’ve had many close calls this being one of them.
Our intuition has evolved with us for 1000’s of years. I’m glad you listened to it, it’ll save you a lot of trouble in life. It’s like having another brain
When I lived in Oregon as a teen, I noticed that it seemed like a cycle of disappearances. One year would be teen girls, another kids, and another young women in their 20's. Crater Lake disappearances could very well be people falling into holes and cracks in the caves.
Yosemite is almost 1200 square miles. To put this into perspective , if you were to set up 10,000 cameras, and each camera covered 100 square feet of visual area, then you would only be covering 1/6 of Yosemite. Just so you know, there are 61 national parks in America. From what I understand, the total square miles amounts to 81,563 of visual area. To cover even 1/4 of that area, assuming 100 square foot of visual area per camera, you’d need about 1,076,632 cameras total. It’s not impossible, but it would be very hard to manage.
Game cameras are cheap and can help on the commonly used trails, not total coverage but some cameras at key points would give a time stamp if the individual passes by.
Smarter thing would be to give people who go into forests some tracking device and a camera that would be sending info live . Then if nothing happens the files would be deleted and returned and the whole process repeats with each person . Also selling such devices to people who visit frequently.
I saw something pole vaulting through the Olympic National forest back in 1990. The woods did not go silent, it was a bright sunny day and whatever it was moved really fast. It has kept me wondering all these years.

is it a supernatural thing?

I remember a firefighter once say that when children are afraid in a fire they will instinctively hide. I can imagine children lost in the woods would do the same and thus become much harder to find. How absolutely terrifying it must be for a child to be lost in the woods.
I think if they're still a toddler they'll just walk and play, and if older due to cultural conditioning they'll look for any adult, THIS IS DANGER because they tell every kid that adults should be trusted for help if you're lost, but in those big unmarked woods every one/thing out there is dangerous.
never thought of that but it makes sense. Especially now when parents tell their children to not talk to strangers etc etc.
When I got lost as a kid at 6 flags I just cried in the middle of a crowd till some big guy with his 2 daughters stopped, grabbed my hand, & walked me to the guard station.
It's OK not to take Chances. I already know I would never go caving. Not my style. It's OK to stay safe is what I say now.

I don
t know if clusters are significant because all these places are apparently popular and attract hikers, etc.

Well that's like saying trust me you feel warmer with a jacket
The beagles are a great idea. But being armed and with years of experience hasn't stopped people from vanishing. A self locator beacon and respect for the environment is your best bet of that not happening.

See that seems likely to me.

BUT ! they don't eat clothes , shoes, metal fastenings etc,
@@CaptainMorganxxx
Vultures may not eat clothes but they did eat the fur and the bones and antlers were gone.

Likely because it is so remote. In British Columbia there is a highway called the Highway of Tears. Women hitchhikers (most Indigenous) have been disappearing for years on it.

One friend told me, she carries bear spray.. do ya realize, how close you got to get to a bear or something to use it on...? Too close, for my comfort.
It’s them damn dang wen-dee-goes

I read your story and omg I got chills from it, can I use it in my TikTok stories? I do TikTok’s about interesting stories and man!! Your story was freaky! Thank you in advance ❤️🫶🏻
@@Shinebrightwithstar absolutely!! People need to be more careful in those settings! Especially in the early spring and late fall when animals are about to hibernate or just waking up from hibernation.
Hey, Kristie. Read your post. Smart to avoid earbuds. I once had a similar experience. I pursued the sound, and found a fat little robin kicking up leaves to find worms. His digging was intermittent. He was listening to hear if anything heard him, I suspect. Sounded just like footsteps in the leaves. You, know, though. I SAW the robin. He was easy to see. Your story is quite spooky. A cool share.
@@JohnDoe69986 Oh, man. That's incredible.
Are you happy now UA-cam, I watched the damn video.
🤣
Honey B, i like your name. I hope you don't live up to it's reputation.
RIGHT!
Yeah no shit. Google has been recommending this video for a while.
Yep same and I learned nothing new
Was in the woods behind our house..the hairs on my body stood up, I was horribly scared, I was 13yrs. I knew someone or thing bad was watching me ..I ran like a dear🙏
We need to teach our kids how to survive in the woods in school
or not send them to school and teach them right
Or at home.
Nah , More toys for me :)
The Left already killed the Scouts, I'm sure they'd just Love That... :>/
Give them an axe and tear down walls... Wait fortnite is already training them lmao!
Good question. I've always wondered that toi, about the park's employees.
First, I don't think that is entirely true and only your limited experience. Second, locals might not let their young ones wander off.
@@Elite7555 that's fair
Ive listened to palidus on C2C am most people disappear in late afternoon around 4 and most are weak as in children old people or mentally slow research for yourself
here in Arkansas there are tons of kids missing and the thing about this state is people here care about how the state looks so they try not to mention anything about it. having been born here, grown up here, lived here all my life, the state has been made fun of for more than 1 hundred years so as a result, people here try to squash anything negative about the state, including any bad stuff that NEEDS to be known about
Mark Fenris Wait tell me more! How often do children they go missing in Arkansas and how often are they not found?
Ummm, that's pretty much what happens anywhere not just in Arkansas you inbred imbecile.

When I lived in Oregon as a teen, I noticed that it seemed like a cycle of disappearances. One year would be teen girls, another kids, and another young women in their 20's. Crater Lake disappearances could very well be people falling into holes and cracks in the caves.

I start with checking the politicians the people are waking up to all the Lies
All these people going missing; why the hell aren't cameras being used more frequently throughout the public park spaces?
The same people leading the search along with the search team are probably the same ones involved in the disappearances.
"each year hundreds go missing"
In 2017 an estimated 331 million people visited national parks..
