I love it when the seller puts different "Goodies" in the parcel with the goods. Sometimes I order different spare parts from the guys, so they always put chocolate and a magnet on the refrigerator with the product - it seems to be a trifle, but it's so nice! Миру- Мир!
I don't think Walnut Shells will remove paint, they are more of a polish and are used for cleaning reloaded brass cartridges. You can try it and go back to the glass beads. Fork stanchions look great.
I must admit I had to watch the video 3 times to take in what you were saying about the stanchions. I was badly distracted by the pink outfit as usual.

I used ground up corn cobs for what you're planning on doing. It was almost a polished look when done.

There are many different media types depending on what you want to remove. I also have glass bead and aluminium oxide. However I don't have sand.
