You can do 2 or 3 bags....and a mixing board to dump stucco on....its alot easier and goes pretty quick....since you have quite a bit of stucco to do it would be beneficial.....if only small patch no necessary I would hit paper first to bring it flush to wall than hit everything.....thats quite a bit of work for 1 dude so props for tackling it solo
That whole patch is going to show. I've been plastering professionally for 18 years you need to feather the joints into the existing stucco with a wet float but not bad for a beginner
@@wthomas7955 yeah man I've been plastering since I was 5 scooping mud on my dad and grandfather's hawk and then eventually they taught me and I learned the hard way trying to spread the mud to stiff
Thanks for the video. How can I add color to the stucco? Do I add it to the mix or do I spray paint the wall after the stucco? I would like it to be white in color.
Im thinking of doing a small repair outsidemy home. The problem is its winter and where i live that means its below freezing most days. Is it possible to perform the repair at like 38 Fahrenheit in the sun?
Can someone tell me, is a base coat strong enough on its own for the outdoors? Or does it have to be covered with a finish coat. I have a small project I'm working on, I used a base coat it cover a cement structure, not a wall per say, but it's already so heavy and thick I don't want to apply another coat if I don't have to...
HI HandyGuy 2016. I've got a question pertaining to a previously, poorly done, stucco finish? Can a person stucco over the poorly designed stucco and previously painted surface? My son's house has stucco but he and his wife are not happy with the results. They would like to stucco over that last coating. The house was flipped and they bought it a couple of years ago. What are the steps to re stucco a house that has stucco? Does the surface need to be sealed? The final texture is a very smooth one.
Hi, hope this answer doesn't come to late since he didn't answer your question, step one you would need to power wash the whole thing to get as much of the poorly installed stucco off next you need to get concret bonding agent apply this with a brush or a roller let it dry then when is dry you can do the recolor on the property, lots of materials brands out there for recolors, is a difficult process you may want to hire someone with experience on stucco if you never did this before.
@HandyGuy2016 It depends on the finish that you're putting over to office. It's a 1960 or a critic.Finish good depending on why they're doing double coat
OK...instead of showing 15 minutes of hosing off all the tools, why not show 15 minutes of hosing the naked applier down? Just saying..it might be more interesting...
You can tell you dont either or you woulda noticed all those clean tools and a "mixing ratio" Either way, as long as he did that color coat all in 1 coat, hes good ta go and did that shit his self.

This coming weekend I'm going to start my project (stucco my foyer) thanks to you.
Don't listen to the negative people who obviously bought all your supplies for you. Lord forbid if it was a DIY project 🤦🤣🤣 great job

Appreciate the advice. It's not noticable, but I will know for next time.
Nice. Answered exactly what I was questioning
Thank you for making this one I want to stucco my house I had no idea how much one bag would cover until now
It says so right on the bag.....the coverage
Looking forward to a concrete repair video 👍
Very informative and to the point. Thank you for an awesome video 💪🏾💯
A clean tool is a happy tool
Nice.... helpful video.
Thanks 👍
whats the working time of the cement? cure time? can you just do a single coat?
Next time mix your mud a little bit wetter it goes on a lot easier and spreads a lot better and you won’t be killing you’re arm trying to trowel it
Yep, way too stiff on the mix.
@@wthomas7955 yeah man I've been plastering since I was 5 scooping mud on my dad and grandfather's hawk and then eventually they taught me and I learned the hard way trying to spread the mud to stiff
I like to mix a little egg whit in mine. Makes it nice and fluffy
I really appreciate how meticulous you are. Without it a noob like me would have crusty tools :)
Get a separate bucket of water and put all your tools in there when not in use.......also wet every tool prior to use.....
Best video I've seen so far
what type of bonding adhesive did you add to the mix?
Very thorough video well done
Charlie Holland o
Well done thanks for the pointers
Thanks for the video. How can I add color to the stucco? Do I add it to the mix or do I spray paint the wall after the stucco? I would like it to be white in color.
Paint it after it is cured.
@@HandyGuy2016 Thanks👍
The color is the last coat.....its called color coat and is different material
@@kirkdunn1379 what material is that?
Good. Example man. I appreciate the video man.

I wouldn't chance it personally, but read the instructions carefully and decide for yourself.

Yes now do the brown coat and then at last finish coat

Nice video Sir 👍 Your looking like Bob Vila
are you doing it professional or just playing around?
Is that a 60 lb or 90 lb bag of stucco and did you get that scratcher at lowes
80# bag, and the tools are from Home Depot.
My question: why do you want a second coat when the first does the job on a concrete wall
can you just use this to smear over old cement blocks to fill in crackes and holes and leave it alone ? STUCCO - SCRATCH AND BROWN BASE COAT that is
I'm a super rookie ....matter of fact lower than that however I've done a lot of research and I feel like what you might be looking for is mortar mix
Mortar Mix by Rapid Set
Dumb question? Why 2 coats? Is it necessary
It's a lot like drywall mudd, the second coat is like the finish coat that covers the blemishes and gives it a finished look.
@HandyGuy2016 It depends on the finish that you're putting over to office. It's a 1960 or a critic.Finish good depending on why they're doing double coat
The Floor needs more concrete than the wall needs stucco.
How long does this take to dry?
Have you got to paint that stuff on
The lathe needs to be furred out to be effective.
What is the ratio of water to mix?
I just followed the instructions. It was about 1.5 gallons per bag.
Any one knows how I can go about buying the stucco
Lowes or Home Depot
u got to be kidding me dude . ...if you couldn't figure that out on your own ..it might not be the best idea for you to attempt this
No tarps on the ground
Add-here-ation?? Adhesion.
Irregardless!!!
@@mr.crighton9491 Regardless*, irregardless is not a word. It got made into a word because jackasses, not unlike yourself, kept using it. 😆😆😆

Ha ha, pretty sure the video would get taken down and my farmers tan would look hilarious 😂
Is there anything you don't know how to do?
Stucco.
Have been a plasterer for 25 years this is the worse shite on the market it is full of small stones and it has no spreadable
What product do you recommend to buy?
Would someone tell him he needs a dust mask?
Rookie lol 😆
why are watching this video then .......loser
You Millennials and your damn gloves.....you dorks seem to fear everything these days.....
It’s to far
You clean those cheap tools way too much
This material is garbage, bad sand to cement ratio
You can tell this guy doesnt spread for a living look at how he puts the mud on his trowel lmao
You can tell you dont either or you woulda noticed all those clean tools and a "mixing ratio"

Good job by the way
He's a DIY'er. He's doing it himself. He's self-reliant. Aren't you proud of him?
I've been plastering for over 25 years. But I wouldn't slag the guy off. At least hes man enough to give it a go.
Ya he's a weekend warrior you f...n jerk off
You’re too slow
You definitely don't know what you're doing
