    Always good to hear what a shoe is like when used in anger! Not the same as a training run so I’m enjoying the before and after reviews. 👍🏻

    After uumming and aarrrring, I went all in and got a pair. They are great 🙂 They are very stable and great for midfoot striking. To combat my form going out of shape in a race and the heavier shoe, I will increase my leg and core strength training - which, I should do anyway! I really like these Lamborghini Hokas 🙂

    I just run Tokyo Marathon in Cielo X1 because my last few weeks of trainign got ruined by illnes and I knew I will not be going all out and X1 felt like a fun cruiser (I only had one 10km run in it before).
    The shoe delivered exactly what I wanted, the weight is really not that noticeable because of the bounce and good turnover.
    No issues with stability despite my form deteriorating quite a bit by the end. Zero issues with the upper.
    I will definitely use them for longer runs with marathon pace in the future.

    Thank you Chris, I bought the Saucony Pro 4 based off your race review and I am completely in love with it. I can't believe I'm saying this but I think I'm going to run it in London ahead of my usual fave Adidas Pro 3

    Agree with your weight and heat concerns, after 3 hours of running even 25g every step will weigh, and heat will build up. I think there are better alternatives....look forward to see your view on the new Asics Metaspeed Sky Paris.....

    I share your concerns. I’ve got the Cielo x1 and not sure for my upcoming spring marathon. I didn’t feel much from the Saucony endorphin pro 4 as the upper felt quite loose and it has less pop than endo 3. I don’t fancy sc elite v4, so maybe wait for ASICS metaspeed Paris edge🧐. Not overly interested in alpha 3’s either.

    Just want to say, one of my favorite things about your channel is the video length. Nice and condensed. Allows you to come, get the info you want, and leave. The 15 minute shoe reviews you see elsewhere are a pain in the ass.

    Did first 10 k Tempo run in them. I have wide feet and they feel perfect. First Hoka that fits me TTS. They feel very bouncy but they actually reminded me of the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro V1. Same ride.. Heavier.. More stable.. Like a training partner for the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro V1. Fist I thought its like Alphafly but the longer I run it felt like a chubby brother of the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro V1. Definitely not a racing shoe for me. By the way.. I ❤ the laces 🎉.

    For a heavy runner (95kg) not particularly concerned with weight these feel brilliant for 5-10k. Perhaps next version will have a lighter stripped down upper and drop some weight but for a middle distance not too serious runner these are my favourite so far and ive pretty much run in everything.

    • @FordyRuns
      @FordyRuns  6 місяців тому

    Found this exactly the same after just trialling this after the W10k. It’s fun, bouncy, proplulsive, but as you say, at that weight, what’s going to happen at 20+ miles in a marathon? Not something I’d like to risk £250 on

    To be fair, I did clock them on your feet at the meet up before the race on Sunday, and I thought they were a very good looking pair of shoes.
    Shame about the weight. And I'd deffo struggle with the thicker upper. My feet get crazy warm.

    This is probably the most fun shoe I've run in. That said, I don't think it's fit for the marathon race. Good tempo day shoe, but I wouldn't want to race in it. In my US size 10, the Rocket X2 is 1.4oz less weight and feels a lot more zippy.

    They are a fantastic shoe very responsive but sadly hoka made one massive mistake and that is the weight. I did a 20 mile run for marathon training in these and after around mile 16 the pace dropped dramatically its just to heavy.....if people are thinking of a race day shoe for a 5k/10k or HM and want a Hoka shoe go for the Rocket X2, not only is it cheaper but it's a better shoe in my opinion. For a marathon shoe I'd look elsewhere.
