How wonderful she was! It is a pity that many young singers today barely know about the great Claudia Muzio. Even when her health was failing she could give amazing performances and her personality shines through the recording.
No words. Sublime version. Everything on the right places - technique, expression, soul, style, elegance, life. Remarkable. Her voice comes from heaven
It is evident that she was from the same school as Callas. In her numerous interviews, Callas said repeatedly that the Bel Canto tradition is the great school of vocal training, the only way to sing. Muzio demonstrates what Callas meant by those words. I admire her singing and her musicality, just as I do Callas'.
Meraviglia !
Imagine having both Ponselle & Muzio around today. It boggles the mind not to mention the ear & these two of course were contemporaries as well. Oh, for time travel possibilities!
For many decades l have loved to listen to Muzio recordings. I have listened to her records over and over many times. She always evokes emotion and still makes me cry. I am so grateful her artistry will remain available to future generations.
Beautiful performance! When I listen to her, I get a similar feeling as when I listen to Callas -- there's this sense that only she and the music exist in the world, and the world *is* that music coming into being. Their identification with the music must have been so intense. Thanks for the upload.
Wow. This is probably my favorite aria because it's so beautiful and uplifting. I never thought I'd hear a version that I like as much as Maria Callas's, but I think this one is just as great. They don't make singers like this anymore.
Penso Callas, pur unica, conoscesse bene quest' interpretazione.
Everyone says it’s uplifting but I don’t understand. The whole thing is depressing and the ending foreshadows an early death. Where is the positive part?
@@quedotelancine1685 Perhaps not in the context of the opera itself, but as a stand alone aria it is. She's talking about how God gave her hope and peace in a time of extreme sorrow.
@@jamesmorrison2055 I guess I just felt the vision was disassociating and her seeking something to make reality meaningful. But I never get “good” from this aria. I think the chord progression just paints the vision that’s it all a lie in the end
Apart from anything else the sound is amazing. How did they do that in 1934? You can hear why, if you don't have proper bel canto technique that this would wreck your voice in no time. I don't recall hearing anyone sound anything like this in this aria. It really is astonishing.

Truly unbelievable performance, and preserved so well. She is fabulous.
One of the greatest and this is well past her prime, shes 44 here and sadly died 3 years later ...id have her up there with ponselle
Just beautiful. The power, the tonal clarity and the musical expression are all exemplary. La Muzio was a great artist indeed!
Absolutely stunning - and consider the poor recording of that era. My goodness!
Meraviglia !
Of course
INCREDIBLE!! the HUMAN VOICE can sound so unbelievably in its PERFECTION!!
This is probably the greatest performance of La mamma morta before Maria Callas.
It better, than Callas. Callas was coloratura and Maddalena is too heavy for Her though She was great as great can be!

And Raisa at the same time. The Golden Age.

❤
That clarity! That intensity! That balance!
Absolutamente MARAVILLOSA
Mamma mia quale forza lirica interpretativa e carica psicospirituale in questa registrazione !
Simply FABBALOUS !!!!!!! 💜💗💜
Semplicemente magnifica!!!
Listen to that clarity, incisiveness, chest ! It’s all there!

My god!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Letteralmente meravigliosa superba
This is unsurpassed to this day, even by Callas. There is an incisiveness and brilliance in Muzio's chest register that can't be found elsewhere.
Wow… it’s a really good recording! Thank you
semplicemente divina
unbelievable 🤩
Magnifique, merci
Uauuuu Callas faz exatamente idêntico.
Stupenda, magnifica!

It's unsurpassable, even by Callas! ❤

Phänomenal!
Woa!!!! What a whopper!
Only two years before her death at 48.
