- In this video i present to you a fully straight piped Grand Cherokee WK1 with the OM642 Mercedes-Benz engine, the exhaust setup is a 3 inch/76mm pipe from the turbo all the way to the back end, no DPF, no cats, no mufflers, just raw sound. I have the 08 just like that black on 18 Rockstars getting ready to lift it 3 inches and throw some Nitto grapplers. Was considering doing the same with the straight pipe. What exactly did you do?
It's fully straight piped. 3'5 inch pipe going straight from the gutted catalytic converter to the back.

@@HowtoRestoreHeadlights Custom tune from HEED 91, they struggled a lot to make the tune because of the hybrid turbo, turns out nobody else around here throws loads of money trying to make these things faster, so they did not have any experience with this kinda stuff. I really thought they would do because it's a mercedes engine and i know that tuning these 350cdi's (om642) is common but they told me that when the engine is in a mercedes car, it uses a completely different computer as opposed to the one used in chrysler-jeep models. It was very hard but they managed to get it done. Car runs 0-100km/h in 5 seconds, gearbox doesn't like the torque. I'll do a data logging video soon, stay tuned.
Amazing that it doesn't even smoke. Did you delete the EGR obviously? How many km's on the motor?
Egr is long gone along with the swirl flaps and the dpf. Motor is well over 500,000km it has already been rebuild once. Its a good workhorse.
Have you also reflashed your ecu ? chiptuned ? Also , have you reflashed the gearbox ? New gearbox soft ? Sounds like a beast .
The car is running a garret 2359vgt turbo with a stage 3 ecu remap, it also has water-methanol injection. Also has a stage 3 tcm remap with a standalone controller that pretty much allows you to do anything you want to do with the transmission. I have done a sub 5 second 0-60 run when launching in 2nd gear, that puts a lot of stress on the transmission and drive train components but it just had to be done once.

Pretty bad honestly, the previous owner didn't know what maintenance is and now all the bad stuff is happening to me. They are tough and reliable when maintained properly though.

Where did get the pipe cat?
The cat is in place, it's just gutted out. There's nothing inside. Basically a catless downpipe
@@actualyoungfarmer1078 I see. That is what I thought since no one seems to make a custom made down pipe for this :(
@@coucouj2781 well, you can probably go to any exhaust shop and they'll custom weld a downpipe for you but it probably won't be cheap. Gutting the cat serves the same purpose, i don't know if the sound would be different if it was a real downpipe.

Traction control off light when launching.

@@MyDestroyer1995 You have to reprogram the computer, otherwise the check engine light will come on.

350hp with water/methanol, around 310-315 with just boost. It's set at 1.9 bar, makes that with the help of a 2359 hybrid turbo made by GR Turbo ltd.
Sounds pretty bad probably from the gutted cat and a mild muffler would probably help too
That's about the best sound you can get from this engine, I've experimented around with different mufflers, even those straight through ones just make the car sound like a vaccum cleaner or like one of those active sound systems that play "engine noise" through speakers. As for the gutted cat, doesn't make any difference in sound, I've ran open turbo before with just a pipe to bring the heat away from the turbo, sounds exactly the same
How was the cat deleted?
It's gutted out, the shell is still in there but what used to be inside is not. Also the car has to be tuned after, otherwise the check engine light will come on.

@@actualyoungfarmer1078 how do you gut the cat? That’s all you did, just that and it just travels down the pipe huh? I’m pumped about doing mine too. I just got a new cold air intake
@@robbycrawley1569 You have to take out the cat to gut it, just take the 6 bolts that hold it onto the flanges of the other pipes, it comes right out, then take a pry bar and a hammer and punch out the contents of the cat until it you can see right through it. There's another way to do it by cutting it open and taking the mesh thing out and welding it back shut.
I can barely hear any turbo flutter wtf
Turbo flutter is not a good thing to have, it basically means that the turbo is producing more boost that the intake can take, so when you let off the throttle all that boost goes back to the turbo and makes surging "stututu" noise, newer cars have electronicly controlled wastegates and variable geometry, so there's no way they can make that sound.
