His voice has not diminished at all- almost reminds me of Mel Torme. The fact that the sound of his voice was as unique as it was from the start makes me think of many of my favorites- Peter Murphy to Mark Lanegan- it may be argued the greatest singers are born and not made. Richard’s lyrics too were a thing of wonder. Cheers to this great band- Talk Talk Talk I bought on cassette and it’s still one of my favorites.
Just listen to this same number at this venue from twelve years ago and it is magic. This is muddy and lifeless. I wish it were not so but the sound lets it down.
It's recorded through a cell phone. You really think the sound on this video is what you would be hearing in person? Also the quality of the recording can vary wildly depending on the phone.
I think the reason they don't sound tight anymore is because everytime I see them ,there's some new people in the band. They never sound like a band that's been playing together for years anymore. I still love the songs but some of the shows haven't been very good.
