I'm actually starting OT(and speech!) myself really soon and I can't wait! I can't wait to get better at everyday life skills, I'm over being dangerously clumsy and hurting myself by accident, I'm ready to learn how to better understand my senses and learn about fun therapeutic activities that can help me cope with my sensory processing disorder. I was just diagnosed with ASD at age 24 few months ago, and I am very lucky that a pediatric speech/OT therapy clinic just started working with neurodivergent adults like me! And that means the world to me because almost everyone only focuses on children instead of also including adults in their services, I never got the opportunities that kids today do, just because we didn't know then what we know now, and not all that long ago I was a kid struggling like everyone else on the spectrum! I'm so far behind because all my life, no one ever knew, even me, that I had Autism all along, so now it's time to play catch-up. I'm so excited I get to experience OT, even on a pediatric level(better for me anyway!), I'm ready to get to work, but also have fun...

So great to hear that! Definitely something that we may take on in the future - helping adults as well as children!

Thank you, could you possibly consider preparing a video highlighting key signs a therapist is effectively working well with your child. As non professionals we are so reliant on the OT and what they say is a good plan. In my experience we've had to book for 20 weeks in advance of the 1st session to gain access to the OT services. My child's current OT was horrified at this practice . It's her philosophy that a few session would be more ideal to assess your child's challenges and you are sent off to work at home and check back in a few weeks later to access the progress with their professional eye.
"Top tips to know your therapist is right for you" .....equipment they should have in their clinic, duration of a session, activities in the sessions, assessment techniques, homework.....thank you, I love your work and look forward to tuning in here and with sensational brain.

Looking for services, I have a 7 year old who could benefit. How do I find one that uses my insurance?

Call local clinics near you and ask about insurance and number of visits allowed. Most will be able to tell you, if not call your insurance and ask about OT services :)
