- The Buick Y-Job was a revolutionary, experimental vehicle that ushered in the modern concept car! This laboratory on wheels was the creation of Harley J. Earl, General Motor's legendary VP of Styling, to be used for developing new ideas for GM's production cars, as well as being his own one-off daily driver!
Learn about the details of this car and many others on the NHVR through our newest series UP CLOSE where we take you through the details on some of the most significant cars in America's automotive history. #DriveHistory

What a beautiful car! I have a 48 Roadmaster convertible that was spawned from this beauty. Hopefully one day I can find the parts I'm missing and get her back on the road!
Had Buick reimagined this today as an EV it would be a best seller
The “Short Horizontal Grille” looks vertical to me.
Am I missing something?
The grille is longer than it is tall, which was something very unusual compared to the tall grilles of most 30s cars.
What a beautiful automobile...too bad they did not make them
Magnificent car!
Was that a young Ronald Reagan behind the wheel of the Cadillac in the photo?
The Y-job had the 320 cu. inch Roadmaster engine, not the 248 special engine.
Sure Looks like it--good catch!
Looks like him to me.
Seriously, this video needs to be redone with voice instead of graphic notes. I had to start/stop this video so many times to keep track of the notes that I almost completely ignored the car itself. I stopped watching part way in.
