How to Tell if You Purchased a Pair of Fake (Knockoff) Rayban Sunglasses

- I purchased a pair of Ray-ban sunglasses because the price was really good. It cost about the same price that optical stores purchase them for. When I opened them, I realized why the price was so good. I work with Ray-ban sunglasses everyday, so I was able to spot these fakes. Most everyone else would not be able to tell because this pair was a good knockoff. The model Rayban was an aviator RB3025 W0879.

Redwagon, looks good. It has the RB etching in the lens, the correct packaging, the model info on the temple looks correct too. Also has the writing in the bridge.
I got some Aviators from Ray-Ban about 6 months ago, and they came with a fat black case just like these, the case was also smooth but it did have a texture to it.they also did not come with "The Icons" booklet and they did come in a clear Luxottica bag.
It depends which Raybans. The aviators RB3025 L0205 you can purchase online for about $100. In retial stores, they can go for more.
Ray-bans also have an "RB" etched symbol on the far left edge of the left lens. The fake pair in this video had the "RB" logo too. If you buy a pair off the internet, you can take them to a sunglass shop so they can authenticate it.
What specifically about the pair on the right makes you think they're fake? I ordered the Ray-bans on the right directly from the manufacturer, Luxottica.
I have a question does your tan case for original ray bans have "case made in china" on the inside of the case
Also another way to tell is Ray Ban puts and R B Symbol on the lens in the corner on the left side opposite from the raybans on the other lens on the outside
I think the RayBans logo/font on the front left lens is darker than the real ones too...
mine came with the clear bag too and a black case like that. is the pictures in the icons book very clear or are they pixelated? the ones i got were pretty low quality pictures in the book and very pixelated. should it be like that or should the pictures be very high quality and very clear?

Also bought a pair of wayfarer and new wayfarer around 3 months ago, which did not come with this booklet. Came with the fat black smooth but textured case, clear luxottica bag and 2 plastic strips on the arms... I believe the new wayfarer didn't come with any plastic on the arms.
@Cassiano...there are a lot of fake Raybans, Police, Gucci and most any other brand. The screw falling out doesn't necessarily mean they're fake Police sunglasses, they could just be defective. Where did you buy them from? Does the seller have good ratings? If they have good ratings, that's a very good indicator that they are selling the real thing.

Overall, it looks like you purchased an authentic pair of RayBans. I wouldn't worry about the print being off a little bit on the booklet. Do the case, cleaning cloth and booklet like like in the picture?

are there alot of fake police sunglasses? i bought a carrera s9bm9 polarise sunglass but the screw keeps getting loose. one time i forgot to keep an eye on the screw the lense popped out of the frame and that made me think if i do got a real one or fake!
I'd like to ask you one thing: about the booklets (sorry i'm not a native speaker). I notice that when folded, (on the "cover"), some have the script LUXOTTICA or LUXOTTICA GROUP and below, 32021 AGORDO (BL) - ITALY... well some have this signs very low on the lower edge of the "cover". Other have it with some higher margin from the bottom. The latter is the fake one in your video. Still, on ebay it looks like the "higher" ones are on sellers that look good. what do you think? thanks :)
Yes, it's important to know if the place you purchase from is a legit seller. Where did you buy these Police shades from?
The RB etching on the left lens (left as if you're wearing them) on my Ray-Bans is on the inside rather than the outside. I purchased them from Sunglass Hut, which is owned by the same company that also owns Ray-Ban, Luxottica. I doubt I have fake ones, but apparently the etched RB should be on the outside from what I've heard. Anyone know if this is true or not?
If you purchased them at Sunglass Hut, they're the real deal. The etching is inside the lens.
I made a slight error. I pointed out the "Ray-ban" logo on the left lens. The logo is actually on the right lens.
The model Ray-ban in this video is RB3025 W0879 GunMetal with Gray/Green G15 lenses in 58mm. This model should come with a "The Icons" booklet (it shows all the different models of classic Ray-bans). The Wayfarers RB2140 series come with a "The Icons" booklet too. The other Raybans do not come with this booklet.

If you bought them about 6 months ago, and they are aviators or wayfarers by Ray ban, it should have come with an "Icons" booklet.

Best I could tell you is to compare them to a real pair from Sunglass Hut or other authorized retailer. Ask the clerk if you can compare yours. Some of the clerks might not let you because they get asked this a lot and hate to have their time wasted on people that bought online. Other clerks might not care as they only make $9 per hour- so they may help you.
thank you for the video. I've bought mine from Sunglass Hut at Myers in Australia for the rrp but mine is packadged like the one u showed on the left. Does that mean its a replica?

A missing box doesn't always mean it's a replica. If you purchased the glasses at a Sunglass Hut, it's the real deal. The parent company for Sunglass Hut is Luxottica, who happen to be the manufacturer of Ray ban. So your pair is genuine. It was probably just missing the box because it got crushed. Ray ban makes a flimsy box that gets crushed and often thrown away. Clerks that work in a store will often just trash the box. A missing box can be an indication that it's a fake when there are other things off with the glasses themselves.....ie, print on the inside of the frame displaying model number lopsided, dull or hard to read. The Rayban logo on the temple arms should be cleanly applied. Does the frame feel lightweight? Ray bans are sturdy, and should have some weight to it. Hope that helps.
The only real difference between the two (otherwise you could seriously make them come off as authentic) is the warranty brochure. On the back of it, there is a huge white square. Other than that, you wouldn't be able to tell even if you took it to a RayBan dealer or you're local optometrist. I know this for a fact because I have a pair of replica wayfarer 2140's and no one has yet to tell me they are fake. Came with all items that would make it authentic (mine doesn't have the huge white square) and I got them for $22.50. Could sell mine for upwards of $90 if I wanted but I'm not a scammer so...
Seeing that it was missing the box, don't you think it could have also been missing the booklet? I've bought real Ray-Bans from a few different Authorized places and they came way different each time. I'd like to really see more proof that these are fake.

I understand what you're saying but they didn't. How can you be so sure every single pair is always going to be the exact same? I'd say things are very much changing frequently, from the booklets to the bags, to the cases. Mine came from the official Rayban website and seems very, very similar to the ones you call "fake", and nothing like the ones you call real...
I got RB 3483. Paid over $200 at Sunglass Hut. It says "Made in China." I seen the same shades later but it says "Made in Italy."
Luxottica is the manufacturer of Ray-ban and has plants in China and Italy. Sometimes Ray-bans will say Made in Italy and sometimes they will say Made in China. It depends on when they were produced. If you bought them from Sunglass Hut, they're authentic. The quality will be Ray-ban quality. It just stinks that you think you're paying for handmade Italian quality, but, Luxottica is just stretching their profits and having the glasses made on an assembly line. The same goes for a lot of brands like Prada, Gucci and even Louis Vuitton.

hi i recently bought rayban justin wayfarer glasses but i doubt they are original if you ask why in the brochure the page with the clouds and the sun is uncolourful also a white page includes chinese writing and the glasses rayban writing looks a bit different and the box has some letters are differently close to one another ..Can you tell me please if its really fake ?

Luxottica/Rayban makes shades in China and Italy.. The Chinese are on the left in black case.
Yes, some Ray bans are made in Italy, and some in China. The aviators and wayfarers are made in Italy. The other styles can be made in either Italy or China. The glasses on the left were a very good knock off......best I've ever seen.

You can always take them to Sunglass Hut to compare them. Compare the frame, case and packaging. This should be a dead giveaway.
The pics in the booklet should not be pixelated. I would take everything you have and go to a Sunglass Hut and ask them to compare the sunglasses you purchased.
Does anyone know how to remove the Ray-Ban logo from the right lens without damaging it?
Put some acetone on the end of a Q-tip and rub off the logo gently. If you have a plastic frame, try not to get any on the frame. Acetone eats plastic!!! Why do you want to remove the logo, out of curiosity? Thanks.
Thanks! I hope it works. The reason I want to remove the logo is because I do not like advertising Ray-Ban. Also, the logo gets in to my visual field and it can be quite irritating.

Hard to tell nowadays. The best thing to know if you purchased real Ray bans is to know the source you bought the glasses from. Sunglass Hut and Lenscrafters only sell real Ray bans as they are owned by Luxottica and who owns Ray ban. Your local optical store will have authentic Ray bans too as they don't want their store's legitimacy to go down the tubes in their neighborhood should they be found out. Amazon, most likely real- check seller ratings. When buying online If the frame is deeply discounted- probably fake.

Yes, many brands that produce sunglasses, handbags, leather goods are manufactured in China, then shipped to Europe to have the logo attached, or put in pretty packaging, just to get the "Made in Italy" logo emblazoned on it then shipped to the US and purchased by unsuspecting consumers.
Exactly! Which is why I suspect so many Ray Ban Aviators are on Ebay for sale at a great price. To me the most important part is testing the lenses for UV protection. As long as that is there it's all good. You can bring them to an optometry to test or use a personal UV meter to test. All the ones I bought off Ebay passed the UV test. I've bought some from direct retail sources like Sunglass Hut and others on Ebay. UV protection is #1!
