    I think the Peeps have spoken, $9 a month to be able to choose between 50 stocks in not what Acorns was made for.

    I love Acorns but $9 is just too much for a limited stock selection. I use it as a glorified savings account

    Honestly, I love Acorns I’m going to continue using them. But if Acorns isn’t careful, I think Acorns is going to lose the essence of what made them successful.

      Yeah they can’t keep adding cost without features that make it worthwhile.

      @@BrendanEvan It seems to me that Acorns Premium is trying take two incompatible ideologies (Robin Hood and Acorns) and trying to get them to interact. If you want my opinion, I think Acorns should have offered budgeting tools to go with the Spend Checking Account similar to what you would see on Digit and/or Qapital. What do you think?

  • @EricJamesyo
    @EricJamesyo Рік тому +7

    $9 dollars is too much, but I'd sign up for $5. I'm fine with slow and steady compounding. The limited selection of stocks and slow execution doesn't bother me. The 2022 stock market reminded me that quick and speedy decisions aren't always to your benefit. I watch my individual stocks like a hawk on other brokerages, and I glance at Acorns maybe once a week. In the past, I literally would forget about Acorns for months. Since 2015, I'm up 39.52% in Acorns, and the dividends keep growing every 3 months. I could replicate everything on m1 or robinhood sans round-ups, but I feel that Acorns deserves some credit showing that boring investing does work with time.

    • @BrendanEvan
      @BrendanEvan  Рік тому +1

      That would have been better to add it to the $5 tier. Sounds like you’ve got a nice long term perspective!

    • @hotrod3769
      @hotrod3769 Рік тому +1

      I agree with you. I bet over time they will include it in the 5 tier. Would've been nice to offer that for existing customers.

    • @jaytrosvig

      I’m on the $3 tier. Since I use Apple/Goldman Sachs HY Savings, I’ll stick to that depending on what happens with the Apple Card. I’f the Apple Card and/or the High Yield Savings Account gets discontinued, I’ll upgrade to the $5 tier and move all my money to Acorns. Hopefully by then they’ll open their custom portfolios beyond the Premium Tier.

    • @EricJamesyo
      @EricJamesyo 8 місяців тому

      @@jaytrosvig I went ahead a few weeks later and signed up for the $9 tier. Most of the stocks have been performing well which has made the decision pay off, but $9 is still too high.

    They need to allow us users the option to have dividends deposited into the acorns checking account, that would be great.

    • @BrendanEvan

      Seems like a simple feature to add, they should do that!

  • @hotrod3769
    @hotrod3769 Рік тому +4

    I have a feeling eventually they'll need to include it in the 5 dollar tier. 9 doesn't really make sense. Too high.

    • @BrendanEvan
      @BrendanEvan  Рік тому +2

      Yeah or add some truly awesome features. I think they should include a 1% match on IRA contributions like Robinhood just added!

    I love Acorns but they should have this feature at least at the Personal Plus Level. Premium level is mostly useful if you have a family.

    • @BrendanEvan
      @BrendanEvan  8 місяців тому +3

      Yeah it’s a bit of a dichotomy to dangle the family stuff and stock trading out so far
      I don’t think it’s that useful overall though so you’re not missing out imo

  • @JDCline1982
    @JDCline1982 Рік тому +1

    9$ a month is insane. I don't think it's worth it. I'm considering it but fees will eat up a lot of the gains. If they gave you instant stock trading maybe

    • @BrendanEvan
      @BrendanEvan  Рік тому +1

      I think it’s 2-3x higher than what we really want. Even still a flat fee is SO much less than a percentage. If you paid a manager 1% (which a TON of people do) they’d be taking more than $9 per month once you have anything over $11k invested.

  • @Constitution1789
    @Constitution1789 Рік тому +2

    It's slow, expensive, restrictive, and unnecessarily complicated. 😅 But I'm sure some individuals will appreciate Acorns as an alternative. The more competition, the better.

      It is supposed to be for beginners, but it is unnecessarily complicated. Also, $9 a month is $108 a year. There are cheaper alternatives. I think beginners would be better off buying an S&P 500 ETF like SPY or VOO.

  • @RonnieM90

    I love your videos about how you educate about investing but why pay for a platform when so many others are free. Fidelity schwab vanguard m1 finance robinhood weeble. Ease of use of course m1.....acorns hard pass. If I have to pay for a service per month to invest my money might as well hire a stock broker

    • @BrendanEvan
      @BrendanEvan  Рік тому

      A broker is still tons more money but that’s a different discussion. Because you’re right that the main feature Acorns charges for is available for free, it’s not the most sensible decision on their part. I think it could appeal to someone who only uses Acorns and doesn’t want any added complexity…maybe?

    • @mikeshuman7393
      @mikeshuman7393 Рік тому +1

      @Brendan Evan yeah but keeping that 9 dollars a month to invest in 1 stock can be 1 or 2 or sometimes even 3 shares in a small cap company that can be seen as a risky investment but it could also be a fractional share in a ETf that you can dca in...fees are garbage..acorns is garbage in and garbage out. If you want easy pick as expert pie on m1 and dca and be done. If you want another easy one robinhood.. I recommend m1 but personally I like fidelity because of the credit card crypto investment roth ira 529 hsa you name it. Can't go wrong with a big broker. If you want to learn and you are serious about it learn.... channels like yours helped me get started and I got some decent books. I looked at these reviews you guys did on you tube and found my brokers....that's what I would recommend. Find your own journey because evey platform is unique to the individual just like investing

    Peeps. $9 bucks a month?! Really?! And we can’t even pick stocks from the, what(?) 3700+ companies in the exchange?! Wow. Totally and utterly, lame. I mainly use Acorns to invest pocket change but if I wanted to use it full time then this would be a HUGE disappointment. 1-3 days just to buy stocks?! My goodness. THANK YOU so much for this video. I waited awhile for this to roll out and boy was I let down. I’ll keep funding my pocket change and let them invest all of it in their predetermined funds. Acorns is not and will never be fidelity or M1 finance so in the end, I don’t care. I won’t be doing it. If I knew how to send you $9 bucks to refund you for this video I would. Anyway, thank you again.

      @JDCline1982 I feel like low dollar investors should not be paying $9 a month to invest. That is $108 a year. You would have to invest $10,800 for that to equal 1%. There are cheaper alternatives. I think they would be better off investing in an S&P 500 ETF like SPY or VOO.
