Tommy kicks ass. I bet lots of people could play this material, although not a single one of them would sound like this. More love drummers! It's not a contest!
Tommy can play, just cause you don't like his playing doesn't mean he can't play. He is one of the most influential rock drummers of all time.. Are you?
Who said he can't play I would like to meet the guy that said he can't play tommy is one of the most iconic drummers in the world he has made his own style and he's been copied by many
67 years old and still kickin ass and takin names.... hey all you new wimpy ass drummers of today, like Josh Dun, Dan Platzman, THIS is how you play the effin drums.... Tommy is a friggin legend!
Bro i swear if you look up the word humility in a dictionary, a picture of tommy aldridge appears big in the front page So humble i really love that of him❤
Helps if you LOOK the part...Tommy is LEGEND...end of story. Anybody that does not get Tommy, does not get Tommy. No point discussing. Ignorant of history,--educate yourself. Tommy IS rock drumming. Rock drumming is not prog rock, fusion, funk, jazz...it is a style of its own and Tommy defines this genre. If you do not like the genre, this is a different argument or conversation. Stay on topic folks...
Has anybody noticed how low his throne is compared to the snare drum and knees? Very unorthodox, but then again it's Tommy we're talking about! Beautiful drumming!
Consistency and nuance of hits/dynamics was all there. Tommy is one of my favorite drummers, and both he and Yamaha drums brought life to this song and delivered big - both sounded great!
Tommy Aldridge playing "Amphibia" (Patrick Rondat). The recording of this album (Amphibia) is a great memory ! The bass- Patrice Guers, guitars- Patrick Rondat, and drums- Tommy Aldridge, were recording live at Ferber Studios in Paris.
Dude in the blue shirt and black ball cap..expression on his face during the performance, priceless!!!! You know that something is unique and special when your mouth is open for that long!!!!
My favorite drummer for 30 years. I bet a lot of drummers could emulate this but no one would actually sound like Tommy. Also I think that Tommy has extremely tasteful drumming.
I've been watching Tommy Aldridge with Black oak Arkansas band Jim dandy Ruby star those were the days sinbads club Santa Monica Pier California awesome drummer
great memory, nothing like standing a few feet in front of him as he absolutely demolished those drums, no mercy there. intense :-) thanks for posting.
Wow. Somebody get that snare drum to emergency! Some heavy hitting fluidity from a living legend right there. Crazy stuff from a cat that always has his foot right down on the gas. Crazy chokes towards the end as well.
Archie, this video is fantastic.Really good to have a different viewpoint on Tommy's playing. Do you know if he's going to be playing the Oaks from now on?
damming awesome drummer and 65 and still has is cotton ball hair rock on Tommy hands down he smokes most heavy metal drummers in the 80s a nd now Gretchen job Tommy reminds me of the curely haired guy in the movie earthquake 70s something
So many people going on about soul! Here's what needs to be understood. The only person who can adjudicate feel is the person behind the set. If you don't think there is feel here because he feels different than you, then you are demonstrating a lack of knowledge. Tommy is a great player. He's got phenomenal energy as a live performer, can drive a groove like a freight train, and has a great vocabulary around the set. There's no reason to think his playing his bad.
Actually in truth, this video doesn't really do Tommy justice. I've seen him a couple of times performing clinics and he's a total monster. All single notes and he just rips it!
I'm a jazz player and I have watched some aldrige video's that just kill. he is a great player.I'm sure my teachers like garibaldi, porcaro, houghtn, ralph perterson, alan dawson , ,chaffee and bob gulloti might be yelling at me but tommy one great rock drummer.
why would they be yelling at you? they are not fans of ROCK music. Tommy is ROCK drumming. Jeff on Kingdom of Desire is a rock masterpiece. Tommy is rock-hard rock drumming and does not try to be anything else. This genre has a style of its own. Power--visual--time-groove-control...repeat. It takes discipline to NOT overplay.
Tommy kicks ass. I bet lots of people could play this material, although not a single one of them would sound like this. More love drummers! It's not a contest!
A solid straight hard hitting really tastful pioneer of rock drumming. Go Tommy !
Amazing. One of the most authentic, inventive rock drummers of all time 🤘🏼
Tommy was amazing with Ozzy and Randy ~ and he still has it today!
Tommy can play, just cause you don't like his playing doesn't mean he can't
play. He is one of the most influential rock drummers of all time.. Are you?
He has been my favorite all time drummer since I started listening to music. Never found one I liked better.
He has the same chops he had in the 80's.
who doesnt like his playing? everything seems positive down here
I think his best work is with Pat Travers Go For What You Know Live.
Who said he can't play I would like to meet the guy that said he can't play tommy is one of the most iconic drummers in the world he has made his own style and he's been copied by many

For sure, one of the greats.

Excellent... the bouble bass father Mr Tommy Aldridge
I think he'd tell you that crown belongs to Louie Bellson.
It's a song from the french guitar player "Patrick Rondat", from the CD "On the Edge", 1999. Drums: Tommy Aldridge
You mean his '96 album "Amphibia" track "Amphibia Pt. 4".
Is he 65 years old isn't he? That's amzing.
Tommy Aldridge playing "Amphibia" (Patrick Rondat).

Tommy will always be the best
Seen him with Ozzy back in 1981 2 weeks before Randy Rhoads was killed. I was blown away with his drumming and 40 years later I'm still in awe.
Me also in Birmingham, Alabama. I was on the front row against the stage barrier and have some of the last photos ever taken of Randy!
Yeah, you're right! Tommy has the right idea, always had it! Balls to the wall, fast, hard, loud, powerful!!!
Wow. Somebody get that snare drum to emergency! Some heavy hitting fluidity from a living legend right there. Crazy stuff from a cat that always has his foot right down on the gas. Crazy chokes towards the end as well.

nope. I'm not Kenny. lol, Allen Brunelle (drummer of metal band MYSTIC FORCE) Tommy is 1 of my top 3 all-time favorite drummers. :-)
Nice!
9 months after this session the drums gave birth to little drumettes.
Maestro
Mighty Monster
A 10 +!
anyone recall the French dude TA did this song with/for? Pat Rondat...
Not a Yamaha fan but this kit looks sweet. Love those Paistes.
+aizo yurei Same here, I'm more into Tama and dw, but a good sound is a good sound nevertheless :).
Oak shells.
Actually in truth, this video doesn't really do Tommy justice. I've seen him a couple of times performing clinics and he's a total monster. All single notes and he just rips it!
