I have heard you teach this in the past, but I never thought about it. I listened today. Think if you added this comment, it would make it simpler to understand. WHEN THE PERSON STRAIGHT ACROSS THE NET FROM YOU IS HITTING THE BALL, YOU ARE TO PROTECT THE OUTSIDE LINE OF THE COURT. leaving the other person to take the middle. seems easier for me to get it. no thinking about all the different angles and who takes it.
It is a great way to distribute responsibility. Cover the line or middle. Seems to work the best if both players on the team shade to the area the ball is coming from. The toughest ball is still the one hit from the middle to straight down the middle. Since I am a lefty that plays on the right side, I just usually yell “yours” to my partner or take it myself if I am closer to the NVZ.
That can be the case. I would suggest favoring a 2-paddle thwack in the middle over an unchallenged shot. When in doubt, go for the ball :). Appreciate the comment
Seems like the X does not work as well at the baseline, since one has to have a great backhand stroke if a right hander. Seems like forehand can crossovef?
At 4:50, you said it’s fine Johnson broke the X. No she didn’t. I replayed it again and again. The last one to hit the ball was the girl in black. So Johnson was the one who was supposed to hit it back. She didn’t break the x. Please reply, because I’m trying to understand the concept, but 4:50 is confusing me. Maybe you just misspoke.
Is a good question. You are correct that the ball was not by the player at the other end of the X from Millie. The ball, however, was traveling along an X toward Millie. A "gray" area if you will. The concept, however, is that based on the ball's trajectory, that would usually be Millie's ball yet Jorja hit it. As long as Millie is ready there, all is well. Appreciate the question.

KISS: keep it Simple Stupid
Great new and improved video on Respect the X. The addition of the breakdown of the pros was helpful. Thanks for helping us improve our game.
Ty
Great demonstration screen. Congrats on the new tools!

Thanks Tony appreciated!

Good stuff Dish
Like the new format, but if you can find a way to not block the screen with your body, it would be better. Otherwise, great stuff.
💯
I love RTX! It also allows the non-hitting player focus on defensive repositioning. That is never mentioned specifically.
💯
Thanks Big T!
Glad knee is better
@BestPickleballCoach thanks... Still rough getting to the corners from the base line...
@@tonytroyer9729 take your time and feel better TT
I definitely believe in RTX, but it seems in some cases a ball that goes through the middle untouched is simply a winner.

You can Break the X when it makes sense. Check out our free RTX guide.
