I always kept a walmart tubeless tire plug kit with me in case I ran over something, it'll get you home or to the shop. That and a couple of co2 cartridges to inflate after the fact.

Just a heads up. When I redline my V2 in 2nd gear a little to far the bike cuts the throttle to zero rpms. Nut buster. So, I’d hate that to happen to you in a standup wheelie. Thanks for the heads up! I think that’s the electronics protecting the engine. Pretty crazy technology that motorcycles have these days. That stand up was close to red line. In hindsight I should have shifted a little sooner, but 2nd felt so good!
In between the Pitt and NJ rounds, ya think they do anything at Warhorse in Scranton? I remember being there when they opened the location and good ton of folks stunt show. That was probably about 15 years ago now give or take a year or two.

Awesome skills 👍. Just wondering when doing the stand up wheelies are you working the back brake much. When I’m doing my more sedate sit down wheelies on my 1199 I try the back brake and it doesn’t seem to do much. Is this because the big L twin torque and engine braking? Or maybe because I don’t go near balance point?

Josh is there any difference between the XSR 900 and the Mt09 handling wise apart from the different shape? I don't want to compromise on the suspension department would love a hooligan carver but with the looks of a retro bike.

Sounds like a fun Sunday ride! Definitely the 1 thing I miss the most about not living in california anymore is not being able to jump on my bike, ride ~30min. And be up at GMR or Azusa. I do have a minibike track 5min. From me though that's open all day everyday except on kart racing days and membership isn't bad at all so while not as good as Cali, at least I have some good riding close!
Gonna be at COTA next weekend for MotoGP though and hopefully MSRH in the next month or so.
If I had to do it over again though I'd definitely move to Texas again! Much cheaper to live so you can live MUCH better than I was able to in california! Got COTA a few hours from me and MSRH 1hr., or Cresson ~3.5hrs away so still good riding, just not for free anymore!

i never wheelie, would you consider that bad for track days and just skill?
I did my first track day at buttonwillow last year and I seen the different type of riders. Especially how great the A class riders rode there bikes make them look like toys. Make those bikes dance 💃 and then they had a ex motogp rider Tony Elias come out and ride a few laps. Pro motorcycle riders like herrin are just a different breed. Absolutely crazy I wanna be just half as good.

4:47 when you're sliding the rear like that are you using all rear brake, downshifting and clutch or a combo of both?
It's called backing it in, mainly front brake, downshifting, bit of clutch control and counter steering, check out some tutorials

Exactly what StyleZ521 said but I use a lot of rear brake. Please do not try this on the street. Go to a track and practice this. It can bite you in the ass QUICK!
@@joshherrin yup 👍 learned it on the street tho with a supermoto on an empty parking lot, its possible but i would only recommend trying that when you already very comfortable with your bike
@@joshherrin thanks for the response! Don't worry this is why I have a Grom. I try the stupid stuff on the Grom rather than on my big bikes. Haha. I slide the back end of the Grom around with the rear brake, but I've never tried backing it in. That sounds like a to-do for the summer.

Yeah rode one time with a flat for a mile and the rear was skating ~1ft back and forth. Not fun!

@@joshherrin yessir, very sketch! One time I had my rear blow out on Nohl Ranch going 50mph on a left hand turn in the right lane. Rear blew as soon as I entered the intersection and was heading towards the curb and couldn't turn so laid my '14S1kRR down. Ruined a jacket and totalled the bike but got a brand new 2015 S1krr that I still have.
BTW my wife Elvia used to work with Rachel a few years ago at Suzuki. She asked if you could say hi, as well as congratulations on getting married and having a baby! Hope you two are doing well!

Did you manage to save your rim?
Yeah! Got a new Q4 mounted up yesterday! I was lucky. If anyone ever finds themselves in that situation, I would just advise trying to keep the bike as up right as possible. It gets sketchy with any lean angle and I would assume it increases the chances of pulling the tire off of the rim.

Yeah! Seems a little ghetto but it works super well. Just needs to be a good quality sticker. I’ve had that one on there for a couple of months now!
