In 2016 Babymetal was at Fortarock in Nijmegen and this year they had their first own show in the Utrecht, Netherlands. It was sold out in minutes, so they added a second day! It was 2000 people show in TivoliVredenburg (I was there too !). Babymetal fans, best fans. ;-) Amazing crowds. The hitting the gong is actually a tribute to an other Japanese band X-Japan. They were the first really big metal and metal-like band in Japan. The band started a year after Metallica was started, so they've been around for a long time ! I like how you said, it all fits together... because at first glance people would say: but these little girls and metal don't go together at all. But they make it work in a spectacular way. Babymetal crowds are the best! I have been to two shows in Utrecht in June this year, best days ever! The size of the audiences in Europe or the USA is not comparable to the shows in Japan, but it's so amazing how every single person is giving their all. Almost all BM songs have those special parts where the audience can participate, and it makes so much of a difference. And especially the Japanese fans are relentless in their efforts. It puts a huge smile on my face just watching it, and it's even better in person.
"Was that it? ...... Yeah. That was it.", I have nearly same reaction after a good gig. I just seem to be unable to believe a couple of hours has passed. I could just keep listening to music for hours if shows would be longer.

BABYMETAL is a Japanese Kawaii Metal group consisting of (for the most part) SU-METAL on lead vocals, YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL on backing vocals/dancing, or "SCREAM AND DANCE" as they like to call it. I say 'for the most part' as Yui & Moa have a few songs that they do as duets without Su and Su has a few songs she does as solos whilst Yui & Moa take a well deserved break. They started singing to backing tracks with actors in skeleton suits pretending to play instruments (known as BABYBONES) but soon incorporated the Kami Band into their concerts, bringing them in full time at the end of 2013. The Kami Band consists of some of Japan's premier musicians on rotation based on availability. The most popular configuration consisting of Takayoshi Ohmura and Mikio Fujioka on guitar with Leda Cygnus as stand-in, BOH on bass and Aoyama Hideki on drums. That's one thing about Su-metal: in addition to being able to sing extremely well, she has that "I'm so cute" look that can instantly turn into "I will cut your fucking heart out with a rusty knife" look - the definition of "Kawaii metal".
This is going to be a strange analogy but the two younger girls are like the hype man in a rap group. The best example would be Flavor Flav in Public Enemy. Yeaaahhhh Boyyyeee.
Actually, this was one of their smaller headline concerts back in 2013, only about 12k in this crowd. They sold out the Tokyo Dome in 2015 - 110,000 people over two nights with a different set list each night and fully choreographed. They sold out Wembly Arena in 2016 and they have played Sonisphere and Download Festivals with around 40k-60k each time in 2014-2018

This song and performance are awesome. The lyrics are really cool and a neat b-day song. They switched it up for her and Moa;s 20th bday. Yui and Moa both got to sing lead on their 15th bday shows and Moa got to again a few days ago for her 20th.

Thanks for choosing to react to BABYMETAL, they're amazing! As someone who is new to the group, I thought I'd give you and your followers a little background on them.
BABYMETAL is a Japanese Kawaii Metal group consisting of (for the most part) SU-METAL on lead vocals, YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL on backing vocals/dancing, or "SCREAM AND DANCE" as they like to call it. I say 'for the most part' as Yui & Moa have a few songs that they do as duets without Su and Su has a few songs she does as solos whilst Yui & Moa take a well deserved break.
They were formed in 2010 as part of the idol goup Sakura Gakuin, before touring on their own in 2011 and have gone from strength to strength.
They started singing to backing tracks with actors in skeleton suits pretending to play instruments (known as BABYBONES) but soon incorporated the Kami Band into their concerts, bringing them in full time at the end of 2013. The Kami Band consists of some of Japan's premier musicians on rotation based on availability. The most popular configuration consisting of Takayoshi Ohmura and Mikio Fujioka on guitar with Leda Cygnus as stand-in, BOH on bass and Aoyama Hideki on drums. These are the people you will see most often in videos. Since the untimely passing of Mikio at the end of 2017 they have enlisted the talents of Isao Fujita on guitar.
Below is a list of some of their best performances that I hope you will consider for future reactions. In the last show supporting Judas Priest in Singapore there was a third girl named Saya on stage that already had been in the Japan tour.

I totally concur with you on the respect due to who goes on stage now and in no way I'm expecting the new girl *to be Yui*. It would be not only disrespectful but also stupid.
And believe me, I'm among the few that was annoyed by the total lack of info about the two so called "muscle girls" that joined the band on the European leg, because I thought they too deserved their fair share of attention.
By the way, I was still at the point of the "chosen seven", with 7 girls in total on stage and no name at all for any of the new ones.
Now I'm seeing they've switched back to the three-units formation and I discover only now from you that the new girl's name is Taro Saya.
I warmly welcome her to The One and am curious to see her performing, be assured of that.

And that *in my opinion* the current musical direction the band has taken is not as original as before.

That's one thing about Su-metal: in addition to being able to sing extremely well, she has that "I'm so cute" look that can instantly turn into "I will cut your fucking heart out with a rusty knife" look - the definition of "Kawaii metal".

Actually, this was one of their smaller headline concerts back in 2013, only about 12k in this crowd. They sold out the Tokyo Dome in 2015 - 110,000 people over two nights with a different set list each night and fully choreographed. They sold out Wembly Arena in 2016 and they have played Sonisphere and Download Festivals with around 40k-60k each time in 2014-2018

@@NolanVoid Just to make it clear, this video from the Legend 1997 concert was with about 8 000 people, no make that 8 000 fans. :-) I think their 2016 Download festival crowd might have been 80 000, so more than 60 000.

The band Pop Evil is really awesome. I have seen them live in person 5 times, I had a blast at every one of their concerts I went to.
Sorry you missed out on the original Babymetal.Their formation and rise to fame is truly an amazing story. One in a million. Sad it had to end.
