Apparently he created an entire cinematic universe, where each band member had their own movie, but John Landis and the studio insisted it be condensed into the one movie.
I just found an LPcopy of 'Blues Brother - Made in America', at a local thrift store! Recorded at the Universal Amphitheater in Hollywood. $3 in mint condition! 😉
30 years ago this appearance was recorded and it is as good today as it was back then. As a horn player AND drummer I had two different occasions to do clinics with Lou Marini, aka Blue Lou from the Blues Brothers Movie and band.
In the pantheon of Dan's comedic roles, leave us not forget the weird "Nothing But Trouble" 1991 (with Chevy Chase, John Candy, Demi Moore, Valerie Bromfield) where Aykroyd plays a 106 year old 'Judge' of a horror house. Pay attention to his nose.
That movie is insane. I begged my Old Man to rent it when I was a kid, and he absolutely hated it. It was an ongoing joke between us, and eventually became our "it's soooo bad it's good" movie.
Yeah I haven’t generally seen the Canadians are nicer thing usually being true. There’s a strong passive aggressive sentiment there usually. They’re kind of like people from Wisconsin mostly.
The ones who are nice I don’t know if that’s immediately because they’re Canadian. Also their politics are horrific they’re like verging on dictatorship after years of terrible voting.
Danny is always the nicest, entertaining, and coolest cats you would ever be lucky enough to have in your life. Dan Aykroyd gave me my start in the business and I will always be eternally grateful for his generosity and kindness. Every time we hang out, it's like 35 years have never passed and still remain in awe of his quick wit and thirst for knowledge and adventure. Danny is a blast and will always love him like a brother. ( no pun intended ) 🕶️ 👽 👻 🗿 🔭 🛸 😎 😂
Of course, fantastic to see Mr. Aykroyd. Thank you! Did anyone else hear Anna"s last line to Mr. Aykroyd? "Let's get arrested!" Ha ha! What a little anarchist. Aykroyd was right, though, she turned out to be a super successful actress.
Maybe this is because a book involving the making of The Blues Brothers came out yesterday. I know because I bought the audiobook on Audible last night. UPDATE: I forgot about the new Ghostbusters movie.
I’ve never met the man, but I seen him in Reno I guess he was making a movie or something awesome actor I love the blues Brothers rip for the fallen brother🎉❤
who's Dan Aykroyd?? I though it was Elwood Blues.😆 I met Dan once when he was releasing his Crystal Skull vodka at a LCBO in Ottawa such a nice man. Elwood Blues is my idol to the blues.

True story: Years later after this, in the 2000s, I was an extra on many days of "Veep." One day, after a particularly long day on the set in D.C., I was leaving the building where we filmed that day, and I happened to be leaving at the same time as Anna. It was late, and it was dark in the parking lot, and she hesitated before walking out the door to her car. She didn't have a bodyguard, security guy or assistant. I introduced myself as one of the actors, she said she recognized me, and I offered to walk her to her car. And I did! I waited until she started the car and drove away, and then I walked to my car and went home. That was my special time with Anna. I saw her again on the set on another day, and she thanked me for walking her to her car on that previous day on the set. So I had some special moments with Anna. I miss working on "Veep"---everyone was so nice. Those were special times.
When I was a smart ass teenager in my thirties, a friend of mine went to Aruba and brought me an Aruba t-shirt. I can't believe this was first time dan aykroyd appeared on david letterman show this was david letterman on cbs . Dan aykroyd didn't even appear on letterman s show on nbc
He should have given up playing that character after Belushi died.... Was HORRIBLE when he got John's mediocre talented brother to play with him later... Totally ruined the memory of the original. Guy just started doing anything to make a buck... sad.
Dan is a great guy. A very talented man. Thanks Dave!
Dan Ackroyd created and wrote the entire script of The Blues Brothers movie.
Apparently he created an entire cinematic universe, where each band member had their own movie, but John Landis and the studio insisted it be condensed into the one movie.
I think that was a good decision by them tbf. Worked out pretty great! :)
Great harmonica player one of the best period get Briefcase full of Blues listen to the whole thing you will not be disappointed 😊
@@edmundobungo1106 I would like to have both.
Dan Aykroyd -- inscrutable yet lovable.
He's also a demon on the harp! Damn!
quite average.,
5:45-5:55 that so-called "little transition" was like a superhero transformation, ranks right up there with Clark Kent changing into Superman
I actually SAW the Blues Brothers with JOHN Belushi LIVE in concert!!
That is a treasured memory for sure. I can just imagine the energy and excitement you must have experienced.

He's a total package
if only belushi was alive in 94 they woulda brought the house down
dan was pretty amazing on his own tho

Kinda curious to know if any of the Houses of Blues do much blues these days? Think they may have bailed on that concept.
