I agree with alan on the sleep mats,im a side sleeper,so hard to get comfy,i have a trekology UL 80,a foil rollmat AND a 3/4inch thick rollmat! Perfect!
I'd recommend this mat if you are a side sleeper like me and struggle to get comfy: amzn.to/3EwAGKF and the UL80 is also super comfortable for me too, especially as I have lower back issues. But thanks for watching, commenting, and sharing. Legend :).

Went all in and got the Rab ascent 900, ooft. For a wild camp, I haven't a clue. Been practicing in a wee local campsite which is basic but want to get out on my own. Kilsyth hills/campsies are local, all previous experience is campsites with a big tent so very new to finding a spot. Got to be right for a confidence booster.

No I've not been able to get out wild camping for a good while now, gutted as I love my wild camping hikes especially up in the highlands but hopefully I'll be out and about next year, watching your adventure's makes sure I'm still getting to go wild camping...maybe it is second hand but its working for me for the time being. LOCH BRADAN is a beautiful place I helped build a water treatment works there back in 1990 it is in the middle of bloody now where stayed in a site portacabin in middle of winter , and watched the FIRST GULF WAR on a hastily rigged up SKY satellite dish as there was nothing else to do a night or go to the pub in Straiton . Explore the wild while you still can get out before you're knees and back give way to decerped old age

13 percent of UK is wooded and when I look at forests around Northern England and parts of Scotland, I saw that on Google earth, most of them are immature and plantations. It broke my heart.
Mate, the whole area has been ripped apart by deforestation. I would LOVE to drive/trek through the Galloway Forest Park fully grown. It would be absolutely gorgeous. There has to be a more appropriate way than cutting down trees endlessly? Look at the Amazon too :(
How often you use tarps Monty? ive done trekking and wild camping for a few years years now and never ever venture into tarps dont know where to start to be honest. always done tents currently using an OEX coyote 3 im 6,3 and i feel its alright size/weight for me.
As I said to another legend who supports the channel, a tarp is my favourite camping gear. I use it pretty much all the time it rains - apart from when exposed as they ain't really designed for wind. I love my tarp - Superlight DD 3 x 3, - as it means I have more freedom to move. It's also EXCELLENT and reflecting heat when having a fire - just don't get the tarp too close. Great for bivvy camps too. Then you are having the time of your life with all it's combinations. A versatile and invaluable asset in the Scottish camping world! Man I am passionate about my tarp lol. The Coyote is a world class tent. I loved mine but it was too red and big, so I gave it away on my channel to someone. Had it out in 65mph winds and it was a champ. If you are getting a tarp, look into the DD one that permits loads of configs and has attachment points all over.

There may be truth in this, after all scientists are fairly certain that the date of commencement of the Veery birds' annual migration from New England.to South America varies depending on.the severity of the approaching hurricane season. I had my introduction to the great Scottish outdoors back in.the 1970s, long before youtube. There was a wee old guy from.Springburn called Tom Weir who had a series.on STV called Weir's Way in which he visited various airts and.provided interesting facts about the locale. He had an enthusiasm that came through the screen and made him a national favourite. As well as being an exceptional mountaineer (1950 British Himalaya Expedition) he was also an historian, raconteur. ornithologist and expert contriburor to several periodicals. @@MontyOutdoors They were nice berries, the scarlet berries of the rowan. The tinsmiths of old held that the redder the rowan berries were the more severe would be the approaching winter. There may be truth in this, after all scientists are fairly certain that the date of commencement of the Veery birds' annual migration from New England.to South America varies depending on.the severity of the approaching hurricane season.
I had my introduction to the great Scottish outdoors back in.the 1970s, long before youtube. There was a wee old guy from.Springburn called Tom Weir who had a series.on STV called Weir's Way in which he visited various airts and.provided interesting facts about the locale. He had an enthusiasm that came through the screen and made him a national favourite. As well as being an exceptional mountaineer (1950 British Himalaya Expedition) he was also an historian, raconteur. ornithologist and expert contriburor to several periodicals. His programmes are all now available on yputube and I commend them to ypu
