I got a G3. Can't say a word. Bad about it I aso. Got a SW. 40 cal. And a SW. 9 MM. Both are SD 40 and a SD 9mm. The Taurus keep right up with them shot about 900 rounds threw them. It's a great gun I carry it now.
At least it's not a Hi-Point, but do to quality control, customer service and past experience with trying to get by Taurus back from them for warranty after four months, haven't bought another since 2002.
I also have taurus g3 and i found the same as what you have... I found many images every images of g3 having red dot on chamber right above the safety lock.. but on my g3 i dont have that red dot and also you dont have too.. did you notice this??

Mines the same way. Mine is the G3 TORO and I also have no red dot above the safety
