I miss those days when people still believe in family and friends. Everything started to change in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Downhill from there...
Aahh, yes, my childhood in the 80's. My family used to watch this show while we used to eat dinner - NYC, 7pm, dinner, at Kate & Allie's, channel 5. I loved my childhood. BTW, their apartment was on the west side, my childhood apartment (my mom still lives there), was exactly on the east side, a mere 30 minute walk) Edited 12/20/21 Standing in front of their house now.
Here's something interesting: Jane Curtain was one of the original SNL cast and Susan Saint James is the wife of Dick Ebersol, who produced SNL during Lorne's absence.
Before there was the Big Bang Theory and Bob loves Abishola, I never thought when I was five I would watch Kate and Allie on CBS and locally on WCBS-TV in New York every Monday night, until the last episode in 1989, and it was on reruns on Channel 9 in NYC.
Kate and Allie sitcom received good ratings when the episodes focused on the dynamics of the relations between the duo. When Allie got married the whole concept and magic of Kate and Allie collapsed. So did the ratings and the final exit of the sitcom was inevitable.
I hate to break it to you, but the protagonists weren't a lesbian couple. It probably would've destroyed the network's viewership numbers when it originally aired in the 1980s US.
This theme song actually brings tears to my eyes now. Thinking of happy times with my sisters watching it, so young and unaware of how life would end up 😞 If I imagine for just a little it’s like I’m back in that time.
Something about this theme fills me with nostalgia
Me too. Can't quite put my finger on it.
The piano playing and the saxaphone are awesome. Great intros you cannot go wrong with it
One of my favourite theme songs.

This show had a lot of heart. I do find it odd, looking back that I also really liked "my two dads".
One of my favorite t.v. shows!!
Great oldies, I use to watch
Love this theme!!

Just when you think you're all by yourself, you're not.
My favorite
I still watch it. Great memories
Where do you watch it? I mean, besides YT? Because I'd love to see the full eps w/o the endings cut off.
Thank you for making this! I enjoyed all those promotional photos.

this theme ending is awesome

Remember this song due to the reruns airing in 1988-1989.
Nice very job, from New York...Brooklyn, NY.
Congrats. My partner, Rick and I have been... OMG 23 years. Wish you both the same for a long time

Even being about two solo mothers was bold at the time, no? But it's good to look back and see how a society can change its attitudes.
BTW, I'm enjoying the reading of the video as a couple's photo album. :) Best wishes..
as a child that song meant it was about to be really boring for the next 30 minutes
as a child, this theme song meant the next 30 minutes were gonna suck
Then why click on it to listen, loser?

It's a very comforting, cathartic song for me.
