I bought my first Panasonic ZS3 back in 2004. I am totally in LOVE with the camera, but the toggle used to get the camera to zoom won't work any more, and the 48X digital zoom it has was one of the main reasons I wanted it. Well, I just found a ZS7 on eBay for $132.00. The digital zoom is WAAAAY higher than 48X, in fact, the thing drove up to 177X! Crazy! So I still have the old ZS3 it will be hard to give up for taking pictures of my art, etc, but now I've got the ZS7 for the zoom photos I love to take. thanks for sharing this little review of the ZS7. I have the user manual for the 3 but don't have it for the 7 so I appreciate it.
@1Ronners indoor video is super tough, you really want something with a bigger sensor if that is going to be a primary activity. otherwise just get some lighting, then it will be fine
I have the same camera- I use it mainly for concert footage- however, i hate how whenever the drums or bass kick in- the volume gets extremely low and you end up having to turn up your computer volume. Any help? Thanks
@italiankid14 concert shooting is super tough. you generally want an SLR just to deal with the low light. This will be OK for a point and shoot, but it's not what I would recommend. Plus indoors you can't take advantage of he ZS7's coolest feature--the GPS!
I think my ZS7 is making a noise near the len. I can hear it while taking video. It sound like a leaking sound. Does anyone that has the Zs7 having this noise? It get louder. I am thinking returning it back. I think mine is defect?
@GeGeMus12 I have this camera and a mac, and its harder to import HD vids. You have to drill down into the folders and copy the .mts files to your computer. I have heard that the new iMovie '11 will support this, but i only have ilife'09. But great camera and other than that works well with mac
People are complaining about the low light recording with this camera. I will be doing alot of indoor video recording for youtube. How do you like it for low light recording?
@princev11 that's what I use mine for. My other account Cameron905 has some samples. It has a stereo mic but will cut off high bass if it's a louder concert. If it's really quiet the zoom might be noticeable. As for photos, my experience has been mixed. I need to shoot more but you can get clear shots without using a flash.

How to turn flash on?
@ForYourFreeMind It only puts out 12 migapixel pics though. It uses the other 2 for intelli zoom

@1Ronners My battery lasts fairly long, and i dont turn the GPS on and off like most people recommend. But its always good to have a spare.
can't help thinking but I think this video was shot using the zs7 as well.

Would you recommend this for indoor concerts???

I just bought this for my wife at Amazon for $278. I hope that she will be happy with it.
Why not just look at her photos after a week or two and see.
does this camera come with birth contoll?

@TheMRamstaff I'd get a canon rebel. The canon ef-s 60mm macro is awesome and not too expensive. Don't think you can get better quality for less...
