He is actually very well known for his crazy flow switch and melodic rap, I don't think anyone in Kpop has his flow game, he is just naturally so good. It's like his specialty. And the beat is produced by "Clams Casino" it's super sick. Arson means setting somewhere deliberately on fire in English but actually in Korean 방화 (Arson) means to prevent fire! He is doing a very cool word play on this and the " if anyone asks me" verse. The lyrics are so complex tbh we need our Korean fans to take their time for a whole explanation cause he is really hitting hard. This song is a bop for sure. The whole album is a masterpiece. Thank you guys for the video.

He's already my favorite solo artist! And even those who might not be into this new album must at least agree that he's one of the most INTERESTING solo artists to follow. Because throughout his carreer (including being part of BTS) you never know exactly what you get from him. He is so versatile and extremely creative and artistic.
I'm so happy so many are enjoying this album. I've seen videos dedicated to calling this mv, More and the album trash. There are toxics on Twitter practically spitting on it. Basically a portion of Army are throwing genuine tantrums at not getting a more mainstream sounding album like Hope World was. That's truly sad because outside of the fandom Jhope is picking up fans (males in particular) left and right. Most of these people don't even know he's part of BTS. This move of establishing themselves as individual artists in their own rights within the industry is proving to be a really good move by BTS. My neighbour hates kpop and hates BTS BECAUSE they're a boyband, Asian and their music isn't in English. This hypocritical BITCH was pounding Arson yesterday as loud as he could when I arrived home. You have no idea how revolution that is fam! I live in f-king SAINT LUCIA! Land of the close minded! I practically stopped in my tracks in shock before saying "YES! GO JHOPE GOOOO!!!"

After seeing this new music video and having listened to the entire album (many times already) I have to repeat the same comment I left under your reaction video for "MORE":
J-hope will seriously go down in history as one of the most iconic artists of our generation. He has his own distinct style in his music. The talent of this man is out of this world! He is the most versatile artist of our generation. He does it all. He always has a unique flow, unique voice and all aorund one-of-a-kind performer. I love the hopeful sunny personality and I love the darker sides of him just as much. I'm so excited to follow his carreer.

The entire Album is amazing! I honestly like EVERY track! Right from the intro. I think it's a genious intro and it really shows that he's not just a musician. He's an ARTIST! Listening to the album in order really makes a difference - it tells a story, so the order matters.
My favorite songs at the moment is Equal Sign and Future (And ARSON!). Equal sign made me tear up just by listening to his singing voice. I love when he sings powerfull (like we've heard him do before) but there's something about his soft high pitch range that just hits different. That's what I felt when listening to "Blue side" full version.
When reading the lyrics to Equal sign it just makes it even more beautiful.

The whole "Jack in the Box" album is
freaking masterpiece. When you read the lyrics of each track, it hits very different. He's telling a dynamic story of his past, present, future. He's so incredibly talented, he's really showcasing his skills in a way he was never able to before with his cadence, his flow, his powerful lyrics, the amazing beats, the production! Do not play with this man and his art, he's serious about it, he has went above and beyond! Hoseok outdid himself again. "Hope World" & "Jack in the Box" are like full 180° turn! (Though from daydream we know the depth of his Ivrics which introduces us to the harsh reality of their lives as idols.) This song gives me a little bit of "Hangsang" vibes, which is again from "Hope World" so it's also not too surprising to me to see this side of Hobi. We all have multiple sides to our personality, and viewing him as only Sunshine is selling this complex man very, very short. I think the big difference in this album from "Hope World" is he is letting us in more, so we can see him unleashed with full creative license. He gave it such a classic, grimy, 90's hip hop vibe, but also incorporating other styles and genres that clearly inspire him, and you can hear his influences but it's also so freshly Hoseok, completely and unapologeticly him! I'm genuinely in love. Now, about Arson, the lyrics are thought provoking and paired with this imagery, Arson is next level stunning! Hobi is really bringing us out of "Hope World", into the depths of his genius mind. I'm love with all the tracks, especially Equal Sign, Arson, Safety Zone, What If, Future…..well every Jack in the Box track is my favorite until I hear the next one I guess!

seriously i cried a lot reading them, because im in the fandom since a lot of years and i know how he feels, i saw always, all the days, "armys" putting him just like a happy guy or a person that HAVE TO smile, and when he gets mad, cries or just is serious them act like if is bad from him (recently he upload a pic, in it has a serious face and the comments make me so frustrated!)
In songs like 'equal sign' and 'stop', he shows that is real with his feelings and thoughs of the humans/world and himself.👏

It's not his first solo album. His first solo album was Hopeworld. J-hope doesn't rap he dance on the beat with his words.

This is the first time their solo stuff has been released as actual "albums", so technically you're not wrong to say that this is J-Hope's first album. But he did release a mixtape back in 2018 called "Hope World", which was his first release of solo work, even though it was a free release and wasn't called an album. I look forward to you checking out that one as some point (he also did a VLive right after it dropped that you might like to see), as well as the rest of the tracks from Jack in the Box. They're really good.
He also did a VLive about the album the day after it came out. BTS normally does what they call "Comeback Special VLives" after releasing an album. It's basically them going Live and talking about the new album (sometimes right before the album drops, so they try not to give spoilers and fail, and sometimes after the album is already released so there's no risk of spoilers), introducing the tracks, playing some fun and hilarious games, and usually the Concept Photo Sketch Video is shown. They're super fun to watch. They started doing them with the album The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever and have done one for every album since. You may want to put those on your list of things to watch, either for here, or for patreon, whichever. But the one the other day was the first time that the "Comeback Special" wasn't the whole group and Hobi did it alone, obviously, because it was his solo album. It was really cool that they continued doing that even for his solo, and I hope they do it for the rest of the members, too. It's actually a bit of a comfort to see that some things like that haven't changed. They're still doing what they've always done, just modified a bit for solos. But it's still very BTS.
And yeah, this track is FIRE. When I first heard More, I didn't really feel it was my style, even though I did think it was a good track. And naturally, the more I listened to it, it actually grew on me a lot. I really like it now. But Arson? I loved it from the start. From the teaser I immediately knew it was going to be a beat I loved. And Hobi did not disappoint. Not in the slightest. I love hearing how his rap has grown since he started. No one raps like J-Hope. He has an extremely unique way of delivering his lyrics that is purely "J-Hope". And the rest if his album is just as good. I've basically had both "Hope World" and "Jack in the Box" on repeat since it came out. I just made a Playlist of all J-Hope, and it's wonderful.

Interestingly enough, Hobi WAS very well known in the Kpop industry before debuting with BTS - the companies/other trainees actually referred to BTS before debut as “the group with Jung Hoseok” because of his reputation in the dance community (remember he did win a national dance competition before becoming a trainee at BigHit, which really made him sought after and renown).

@2:43 J-Hope was NEVER the least known member when BTS debuted. He was known for his amazing vocals, stunning visuals, and obviously well known for his underground dancing skills with crazy moves and amazing personality. Then he became the group's main dancer, vocalist, and rapper. "my popularity at the top" - this part means that they grew from nothing to the superstars they are now.
Yeah don't know what they were talking about, but I was like ummm have you not seen the concert were the entire stadium was shouting Jhope, when he did Just Dance! And his mixtape and chicken noodle soup did really well, if I remember correctly Hobi was the first one to have a Hot 100 hit on Billboard with Chicken Noodle Soup, ft. Becky G.
And trust me that just a little info. I mean did they not watch American Hustle Life. That was recorded with in their first couple years and literally in one of the scenes, Hobi and Jin were walking down the street in L.A. and he was recognized as jhope. Honestly he seemed suprised himself, ai mean they were definitely still rookie's in South Korea, but it was a really a cool thing to see.

You can't fit J-Hope into a box because he is more than what people have realised. He is a group of seven very talented individuals and one them is Suga so a lot of people forget he is there sometimes or at least that is my impression of this. In more he talks about perfecting his craft for 11 years, music is his life he released Chicken noodle soup because he wanted to pay homage to the track that got him into street dancing which is what he was he had his own crew. So did Becky G which is why they doubled up for the track.
Artists are more than what we hear to truly stand out in such a group like BTS is hard. The fact that he went this route is hella exciting there is not one thing I would change
It isn't like MicDrop at all, which was addressed to BTS haters. He meantions haters sarcastically, once, as born haters, after all they were partly responsible for this fire in him.
Arson is dark where JHope continues to address his passion for music from MORE.
While there he directly dealt with his passion here he talks of how this fiery passion set fire to everything, the rise to the top, the winning of awards etc.
This passion is from within and I think he chose to burn brighter because even after the fire was put off "outside" the heart was still on fire and he is shown lying with flames, so only he can put this fire off.
