That reminds me of my favorite anecdote I read in a magazine in the 90s. The teenage girl comes in to buy tampons, the cashier asks for a price check on tampax over the intercom. A few minutes later a cute guy who worked there comes over and asks “the kind you push in or hammer in?” The girl is absolutely speechless with disbelief. Finally the guy sees the box of tampons and stammers “ohhhh I thought you said thumbtacks!!” 😂😂😂

As a grocery store cashier, I can relate to this so much lol! I've had pregnancy tests not scan, men's fertility pills not scan, condoms not scan and I have to excuse myself to go ask the pharmacist for the price so embarrassing
I think it's sad that we still have to feel embarrassed about something that happens to the majority of women every month. Every time I've seen a fellow woman grabbing some pads and she was always trying to keep them discreet. I'm the same way. It's so embarrassing but why?

I can totally relate we have a store in the USA called CVS and when my mother got sick it was when I got my first period. Well she sent me into CVS and there was no price. Instead of a lady cashier it was the male store manager. Talk about embarrassing moment in. Later on maybe 9 years later he would become my first boss

We were at some department store (I can't remember which one) and she held up this training bra to my chest, over my t-shirt. And an employee asked, from like 15 feet away "can I help yall with anything?" And my great aunt was like "yes I'm trying to find a training bra for her! Her first... so I am not sure what size!" We just say what department theyre from and when they call back, useless youre the cashier or standing right by them, you wont know what you need a price check for.
Like for example, some meat. "Meat department [name of the register]00"

Wow I couldn’t imagine but I’ll be buying my own stuff in a couple years. I personally don’t do anything when I’m called a man over the phone because my voice sounds like a man I’m just used to it, but I don’t identify as one. That’s probably one thing we still have in society is saying someone’s gender how they see it. Hopefully they just tell you to have a good day.

I was buying tampons one day and on their website it said they were in stock but when I got there they were all gone so I went up to a lady and asked if they had any in the back and she went to the little microphone and yelled “can someone check if their are any TAMPONS FOR THE WOWMEN IN ILE 6” and the worker was kinda in a food section and their was a lot of people and ALL of them new that I needed them and all I could do was leave the store 😭
