The RC doctrine of the immaculate conception is that Mary was born without original sin not that she was born of a virgin!

  • @KayRay-d8z

As a Catholic I would like to corect the immaculate conception part, Its not true what the presentation said that Mary was also conceived without sex, that’s not what immaculate conception means, it means that she was protected by god’s grace from original sin, Mary, whose conception was brought about the normal way, was conceived without original sin or its stain. That's what “immaculate” not what you mentioned in the video

I think I visited the church while I was at IU in 2011. Did you become rector recently?

Why do you put money on the altar during the blessing of the Eucharist?

Sorry, but I found this to be quite wishy washy. We're I not a cradle Episcopalian, J doubt this would have inspired me to become one.

I am also an Episcopalian, and unfortunately wishy-washy is on brand for us.

Hi, I’m looking to find a spiritual home, and I am confused about something that I hope you understand and can explain to me in a way that won’t make me wonder about the appropriateness of it endlessly. Could you please explain to me why money is put on the altar during the blessing of the Eucharist? It seems like such a dark practice to me right now.

You are completely wrong about the both the Immaculate Conception and the Assumption. The Immaculate Conception is the dogma that Mary was kept free of original sin from the time of her conception. The Roman Catholic Church does not hold that Mary was taken up to heaven while still living. The Church is silent on the matter. The Chruch holds that Mary was taken up to heaven bodily at the end of her life. I would expect a priest to be better educated than that.

As a suggestion, it would be great if Episcopalians would stop saying “bells and smells,” or “smells and bells,” however it goes, as it is derisive toward every other religious and esoteric practice known to man, perhaps with the exception of Protestants and heretics. The bells and the incense have real meaning and real spiritual power to people everywhere on Earth. You aren’t being rude to the beliefs of only the Catholics, if deriding Catholics is what you are hoping to do. Please remember that even if the esoteric underpinnings are missing from your understanding of these important practices, their use isn’t lost on others. It might be nice if you brought them back, actually.

Episcopalians don’t believe the Word of God. I had to leave the church and join the Anglican Church years ago. It broke my heart to leave but the Holy Ghost convicted me to go.

I just don't see the point in being a Christian if you're just going to pick and choose which articles of faith to believe or disbelieve. If you don't believe that the bible is truth in its entirety, then why bother being a Christian?

There's a difference between believing that every person has dignity, as everyone is made in God's image, and affirming actions and behavior that is clearly sinful. I'd argue that doing that latter does the opposite of affirming someone's dignity.

I was raised in the Episcopal church. When I became a Christian I realized it was not Christian theologically
Based. They are not readers of the Bible from the pulpit and are very liberal.
