- SCP 682 is a Keter Class anomaly also known as The Hard to Destroy Reptile.
Dr. Bright is an anomalous SCP Foundation Researcher. He differs from his fellow scientists because of his use of SCP 963 making him effectively immortal.
In this video we explain what happens when you pin these "unkillable" entities against each other. Will SCP-682 overtake the powers that SCP-963 provide Dr Bright? Or will Dr. Bright's relationship with SCP963 prevail over SCP682 ? Watch and find out!

Again, this lizard doesn't have "regeneration" or "adaptation", he has straight up wide scale reality manipulation, and it can activate even when he's dead.
Yeah, to put it simply, his life force has a quantum lock. Even when the researches lost it using 536, his body was destroyed but he escaped the chamber and chased around members in a body in a state of quantum flux. And when introduced to the nothing in Russia, he simply affixed his life force to where it strongly felt his own existence, his own chamber.
Explain some more to me. I thought 682 was actually a being that existed beyond the mainline scp multiverse and its body that we see is a manifestation of this being, right? So while this reality bending entity exists in its sanctum it can just keep raising its physical shell to keep existing.

Um the lizard does have “regenerative capabilities” it specifically states it in the 682 article. That reality manipulation thing is likely from some cannons interpretation of 682 (which is valid given the fractured nature of the cannon) but per the original article it just regenerates

Its likely he wouldnt be able to help even in his true form, since to chill with humans in the first place, he needed to get a mortal body.

That last line really got me thinking
What if 682 is a physical manifestation of pain and suffering? Just like 682, pain adapts and changes to every situation imaginable based on circumstance and every attempt to hurt or "kill" your pain only makes it stronger.
Perhaps the way to truly end the threat of 682 once and for all is not by trying to kill it, but by trying to heal its pain and suffering? It makes sense why other scp's like 999 or the girl were never killed by 682, they weren't trying to hurt it, but they wanted to befriend it. Idk, just a thought.
The girl couldnt be killed because anything he inflicts on her will just bounce back-and its been shown that he has and will kill anyone-especially kids..which he does so extra messily. 999 didnt even change him, but made him even more angry and dangerous
Have you read SCP-6820? If not I recomend you give it a read. It's a series VII article so it's long, but it kind of delves into the idea that SCP-682 is an incarnation of suffering
Sadly that might be wrong, as the foundation attempted another experiment with non-anomalous girls, all of which failed and in such a high number that the guy behind the experiment was either killed or fired.

The last termination attempt with 3108 failed, but what if you got a D-class that never knew about the existence of 682, convince him that it's so friendly it's somehow dangerous, then have him blindfolded and with a headset that blocked every external sounds, and order him to shoot on a certain direction to hit 682 (wich would be heavily sedated and imobilized to be an easy target) with 3108 in order to make it less friendly, that would actually end up with 682 friendly

Ok, serious question to all who write for the SCP Universe:
Why keep trying to kill SCP-682 instead of pacifying it? SCP-053 canonically makes SCP-682 peaceful and actually happy, while the young Girl loves to be around it. As well SCP-682 and SCP-053 have to be be permanently isolated anyway, so its not like the young Girl would lose any freedoms. Its basically like introducing an immortal puppy to an immortal child, who cannot interact with other living beings. If you ever have to take the Girl out for tests, have SCP-999 take care of SCP-682 until you can return SCP-053 to her cell.
I know the authors want to keep SCP-682 as this big, unbeatable monster because its a fan-favorite, but I think even fictional beasts deserve to be happy.
Because 053 and 682 are both considered highly dangerous SCPs, and because of this prolonged mutual containment is deemed far too risky because if it failed there would now be two uncontained highly dangerous scps that lack proper holding cells.
@@randombrit13 I mean, what is the danger of SCP-053? She never had any violent intentions, and no attempt of containment breach, so even if SCP-682 would not be pacified and break out, that would have happened anyway at that point.
And again, according to the files the presence of SCP-053 calms SCP-682 down to a peacefull state.
I mean, in the end I get it, its made up stuff and SCP-682 is a very famous SCP just for seeing how it goes berserk and stuff, and lifes lost dont matter because, well, fictional, so pacifying it would be boring. But honestly, for any real life case, I say it would be worth a try at least, seeing how many lifes each breakout of SCP-682 takes.

I’m not sure on why 053 is deemed dangerous but so long as she is, mutual containment with 682 will never be authorised.
@@randombrit13 Basically SCP-053 is considered dangerous to be around because her anomoly causes people to want to kill anyone around you, she cant stop or control it, basically if you are around her for more than 10 Minutes, look into her eyes or touch her, you really want to kill everyone around until its only you and her, then you want to kill her, but if you try, you die. She is also immortal.
However, SCP-682 is somehow immune to her Aura, and even becomes as tame as a little puppy around her.

while the experiment between Dr.Bright and 682 was ultimately a failure it did give important clues as to how to handle it in extreme scenarios, a mind based attack is still something it has a hard time with and while the amulet is not the best tool for the job it does beg the question of what other mind altering or mind assaulting SCPs could be used to overpower its mental functions, this combined with any SCP or technology available to the foundation that can temporarily hault its manipulation of reality could be the key to permanently destroying its conciousness.

In order to terminate SCP-682, the 05 Council must access SCP-001: The Database and edit the 682's database entry to establish some kind of Achilles heel (and set hard limits to the creatures abilities) and describe how the Foundation's latest experiment was able to exploit that weakness to neutralize the Hard to Destroy Reptile once and for all. Oh and don't forget to change his containment classification from Keter to Neutralized.
Wouldn't work, 682 is a multiversal entity that exists both in that universe and outside it. Editing The Database either would work until 682 rewrote it and then killed everyone because it now had access or it simply wouldn't work because 682 is not part of consensus reality.
@@PoliceTelephoneBox Multiversal entity or not, 682 doesn't exist IRL. Everything below the Alpha Layer is controlled by and at the mercy of the Database. The only reason 682 has proven impossible to kill so far is that he was written to be that way. If on the other hand it was written that 682 had limits/weaknesses then he'd have them, and if the Database said that 682 had bee neutralized then so it would be. If his page and all references to him were deleted from the Database then 682 would cease to exist (and I mean cease to exist for real, not like that fake nonexistence that the pattern screamers caused once).
@@PoliceTelephoneBox 682 Cannot affect the Alpha Layer, nothing can, not even The Database itself, but editing the Database does effect the SCP Foundation's Multiverse, and even it's Megaverse, but to edit the Database one needs total control of their Beta Layer (there are multiple, one for each fictional story we've made) to edit even a single thing, Otherwise they have to hope someone else writes into the Database that they edited the Database like in the case of 5999.

I think that a cheaper alternative to the vat of acid 682 is in may be a giant microwave, as it would consistently burn at 682's flesh, or at least anything with moisture. It would be hard to adapt to that.
This is an ALTERNATIVE to the vat of acid 682 is currently being held in, not a way to kill 682
Edit: To those saying he could become radioactive, that's not how microwaves work. 682 would not be able to adapt to the microwaves to be come more dangerous. Microwaves emit non-ionizing radiation; a type of radiation that has enough energy to move atoms around within a molecule but not enough to remove electrons. Because of this, 682 would not become irradiated, just like how food does not become irradiated. Even if 682 were to become radiated, it would STILL only be non-ionizing radiation - which isn't necessarily harmful to people, its just really hot.
Edit: To those saying he could become metallic and explode, that would be the case in a normal at-home microwave. But even an at-home microwave can be modified to melt metal, with two slight modifications: the rotating glass plate must be removed and the holes which admit air to the cooking chamber must be taped over or sealed. This can be scaled up, and used on a larger microwave on 682.
Edit: To those saying that he's survived large amounts of heat, like from SCP 001 - While that's true, a microwave only produces heat as a side product of the radiation, which fundamentally forces atoms to vibrate, causing heat. I think the vibration of such atoms would be the thing that kills 682, rather than jus the heat. And more so, the surface of the sun is 9940.73 degrees, a temperature that has been surpassed by man made creations. A lightning strike, for example, is 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit (5+ times hotter than the surface of the sun). I believe that with a powerful enough microwave you could surpass this temperature.

I know that this didn't happen in the video, but my fanon (fan canon) is that when put around 682's neck, Dr Bright's mind would make the SCP foundation so worried that some said it was "worse than an XK Class end of the world scenario" and they immediatley added to the list "Dr Bright is not allowed to be in the same room as SCP 682" and they revoked the Dr Clef things Dr Bright is not allowed to do one and then revoked that as that was an insane idea...
And the person who took the Dr Clef one off got given amnestics after the entire 05 council shouted at him and almost made them D-Class.

Can you do SCP-682 vs SCP-106(Also known as “The Old Man”)? I think that if he were somehow contained for a long period near 682, he could kill it.

Bright you could have still use the time it was knocked out 36 hours you going to try the number of tests to just try to kill the maybe the state of unconsciousness could severely impaired his own ability to to adapt anything harming 682 while his body's trying to adapt to a mental takeover

I personally think the reason why bright was sent into that mental limbo was because he was exposed to the true force 682 actually holds. And since 682's lore suggests it exist on a near devine scale, he was most likely nearly absorbed by 682 like how one of the victims were shown to be trapped in its head after
