It's unfortunate that when you're different you are likely to be treated as an outcast and only be accepted once you've "shown your value" to a level that is beyond reasonable. And even then there are those that don't accept you yet.
這就是

@@user-co4oq4nv9z fair, but unfortunate nonetheless.

It's the Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer lesson all over again.
Then become a vilain znd spread the message that you didn't cause this unspeakable evil
6:48 you can't changed everyone's opinion on you so fast but those who do.. they will support you even if they're just on the sideline.. i love how they added this reality here..
Just like X-Men movies. Those people never accept them as mutants
They will not accept us!
I believe the blue flame was meant to keep the evil creatures at bay. If the troll girl can use it without burning herself then she was meant to be a guardian of that town.
I would disagree. That means she would owe protection to the town, but she doesn’t. She’s just a child. The town should be responsible for protecting her, not the other way around. Stoning is deadly. They had every intention at multiple points of not just letting her die but actively killing her. When her guardian is gone, she will have nothing to hold her there.
I think the blue flame is the guardian of the town as it shows some sentients and her being able to touch it is because the flame accepts her as a part of the town
That was beautiful. I love the music and I love the troll girl. I love that the nun, although initially startled by the unusual appearance of the baby left on her doorstep, quickly warms up to her as she's still a baby in need of warmth and a home.
Yes she was a true nun with God's Love in her heart 🙂💖
To the nun, the troll girl was one of God’s creations. And not a descendant of the dark creatures who found no refugee on the Ark. That’s what I think she would think.
I may be baptized but I’m more open minded. Basically if I see a child regardless of what species be human, troll, or other wise I care for it. Being an infant she is neither good nor evil it’s more on the upbringing that molds them.
@@Coyoteprimeagreed
I agree
This film was absolutely beautiful and it's so nice to see a nun portrayed in a good light. It's especially rare to see that in today's day and age. Wonderful work!
Yeah because my late aunt was a nun for over 50 years and she was one of the best people I ever knew. I still to this day have a lot of respect for nuns even after I went from Catholic to Protestant. She stood by me and I was glad to have known her. She was principal of a Catholic school in Valley Stream NY and has that street named after her. She left behind a great legacy. I just don't understand why people make out all nuns to be harsh and evil. Most of them just want to help others and do the right thing while expecting nothing in return.
@@TheNijikazegirl
I'd say it's mostly because they were people's first introduction to extremists, so even if most were loving and kind people, many were scarred by the impressions they had of them.
Plus, the awful ones tended to stick closely together.
most nuns are genuinely terrible people who actively uphold an awful, harmful institution & ideology through their profession. it's not a wonder that people would tend to see them badly. a fantasy nun in a fantasy world with magic and monsters is obviously different, lol.
I never saw any negative nun propaganda. Maybe some rude comments but not massively. I didn't know that was a thing really.
Hundreds of years ago when the story takes place this was sometimes the only life for a woman who did not want to marry and be a mother or wished to be a scholar or pursue music or any other sort of life in this culture. In some orders there was more independence.
This is beautiful! To see her demonstrate her power, and then show the townspeople ‘i could have used it against you all these years, but didn’t’ before they let her pass was painful, but i’m glad she’s not hiding anymore
ya wish she did tho. sometimes lessons gotta be taught n learned. but gotta keep the "good troll girl" vibe...
sigh. oh well. i still liked. 😁
@@ssppeeaarr if she did, they’d just say she’s the monster they all feared she was, and her relationship with the town would only worsen. It’s always good to solve matters without violence
This needs to blow up so bad. The way you animated the little troll baby, with the little baby sounds, had me start tearing up and crying out of nowhere. And seeing the little girl being ostracized, and the anxiety and confusion when her nun mother disappeared, looking around what’s familiar for her, like some kind of spacial impermanence. I often think of how sweet innocent children had to handle and deal with being mistreated through human history for being different. A lot of our outlooks change with culture, but childhood is one of those experiences I feel unite our species regardless of time.
I would love to see this turned in to a full length film.
Me too!!!

@@SpookyScaryGangRapingSkeleton So?
For some reason, I sense a Puss in Boots and a little bit of Quasimodo vibe from this. In a good way, the motherly nun takes in the troll girl and she sees her as a precious child despite her appearance. It’s never easy being different in a world that’s black and white. I’m glad that they’re people who supported the troll girl and her mother. Bless those ladies.
No matter how many people tell you who you are or what are you suppose to be..... It's only you who can say your worth and what you're capable of doing.
True words.
Ultimately, it can’t just be your friends or family telling you that you are important, you have to realize you are important, too. But it does help to know that you are loved ❤
Ahh, the Classic tale of Someone who is Different and because they are Different, they are rejected by almost everyone, but then they use their differences to help solve a problem and then everyone accepts them. A classic trope for many stories.
This has to be one of the best CG short films I've seen for a while now. It is very relevant to today's world.
How is it relevant? I agree it’s a marvelous short film but is it supposed to be an allegory for current events?
What a beautiful short film! The Troll Girl’s design kind of reminds me of a Trollhunters character, and I feel like even though not a word is spoken I know so much about her & her adoptive mother.
You noticed it's the old women of the village who defend the relationship of the Nun with her child in a manner of speaking because they understand the truth of it which the others do not.
Sweet story!! Beautiful!! I love the nun too! ❤️ so often nuns are depicted poorly and unhuman in secular culture or presentations. All the nuns I know have been so kind like this one! truly appreciated! Thank you! 🙏🏻
Yeah, I studied in Catholic Schools and indeed, there are very good nuns that I think would make better Moms than some out there...
Sadly, media only concentrate on the bad ones....
Same, its co cute to see nun being a wonderful person in the trolls life ^-^
Same here
When society has decided you're a monster, you don't have the luxury of being human. No more temper. No more being petty or distancing yourself from the people that hate you.
Once society decides you're a monster, you either become a saint to fit in or let yourself become what they think you are.
We all have to see ourselves in a positive light, regardless of what the world thinks, and I love how the troll girl comes to realize that after she saves her nun-mother and goes back home ❤
I’m glad she stayed with nun mum
Wow! This reminds me of Cartoon Saloon celtic movies like a mix between Wolfwalkers and The Secret of Kells. Her nun mom was adorable too!
Such a great variety of characters. Even if we only know most of them by the facial expressions and small deeds, it's those small touches that make this simple, familiar tale all the more richer. And the main character and her chief supporter take center stage by going the extra miles to take care of each other.
the Outcast become the hero trope is rare, but enjoyable as hell.
True agape love knows no bounds. Christ was a great example of that.
Magnificent and extraordinary story of a trollish child raised by a kind nun in the human village. The girl has a special ability to control blue fire with her own hands and transform to her enormous size when she gets angry. I love it. Magic, excitement and adventure. Creatures like this troll girl deserves respect from all of the world and be treated as equals the way we humans do for one another.
I really love these type of 2d drawing style. It has become less and less popular comparing to 3d, moreover the story and mood is very beautiful.
This has more heart then the average Misney animation has had in years.
Individuals as well as society can put up with BS only so long. The Troll girl finally becomes welcomed to society.
🙋🏼
When I saw the thumbnail, my brain flew immediately to Homestuck
Even if you are different, the important thing is that your heart is kind and pure
Trolls are people to, we deserve the same rights and recognition as Humans
I was a trollgirl, too. My mother "made" me this way. I am always a bit different. But now i am proud about it. Nobody will hurt me again. 💪🏻
im a non-passing trans woman with problematic disabilities so i relate to the troll girl. i often wish i was pretty instead of ugly, & stable instead of mentally unstable. i liked this short film a lot.
@@AuntBibby You are NOT ugly! If we pass each other on the street we wouldn't be able to recognize each other. But you are NOT ugly. Do you see people run away from you? No? You are not ugly.
When I was fifteen, i started eating. Every night. One year later i got twenty kilogram heavier.
At age eighteen i was about 100kg. Nobody recognized me as a woman. I was just the fat friend of the pretty girl. The buddy you like to spend time with.
About ten years later i got a Burnout. Three months just sleeping. Twenty hours a day. I was to tired to eat. After these three months i went out for the first time. And it seem to me like all men watched me. It was crazy. I lost thirty kilogram and that makes me interessting to those guys never want to talk to me before? 🤬
I am no peace of meat! I was pretty all the time and i am right now! You didn't want me then? You can NOT have me now.
So, you are never ugly! You surely have a sensitive mindset. You feel things before others recognize them. Be prout of yourself! It isn't easy to live your life, but you do. ❣️
I'm autistic and I'm related to the troll girl
Love the story and man the kindness one shows to someone who doesn't look at appearances and the dark side of those who doe judge others for that.....while they will hurt you, know there are many people who care about you and wont judge you they are out there❤
Simplesmente lindíssimo!!! Quando a menina assume o seu poder pessoal e descobre que não é um monstro, mas uma heroína!!! Maravilhoso!!!
Who could stop a gang of men w pitchforks and torches with a LOOK??? HAD to be the moms-the fear in the guy’s eyes 😂😂😂
Can we talk about how cute the troll baby girl's smile is? :)))
The baby troll girl is so adorable
Nice art direction. Congrats for the animation 🎉
Beautiful animation. I hope to see more of your work in the future.
The whole thing is pretty but can we just take a moment to appreciate the night sky like omg.
The ladies understand, it’s like they can sense the mother instinct the nun had
This was a wonderful, short and sweet... eh short. It's a simple story that's simply well done, and I love it.
Such a beautiful story and especially the end rip the grandfather.
Wow, that is quite a great animation! Very well done Kay Carmichael (and others)!
The nun is that girls mother because she loves her for her. And when the townsfolk saw how she didn't hurt them they show support. The people who didn't might need time
This is beautiful! I love it more that nobody had to die at any point in time.
Those backgrounds are GORGEOUS!!
i love how the townswomen at the end are like OH NO YOU DON'T. 😁♥️
There, Is more than just the outside!!!❤
I like that.
I liked the story, I liked that the religious lady was earnestly trying to help; I liked that the townies weren't totally dense and warmed to Troll Girl once they got the bigger picture about the attack.
What makes a person human isn't what they look like, but their character and actions and that little troll girl was more human than most. That's the lesson to be taken here. You don't proclaim yourself human, you just _be_ human.
Beautiful animation style. Reminds me of the original Walt Disneys. So warm. Wonderful tale
This was so cute! And brilliant in how it introduces you to the characters in such a short amount of time. I really hope this becomes a film or a show or something bigger one day. I’m already so invested in Troll girl’s possible adventures! Also we stan the nun mom with her goofy run XD
Wish this was a series 💕
this is beautiful, shes a precious lil thing.
this just proves that all beings are capable of being kind, but not all those who look like monsters are monsters, but that most times, human beings are the real monsters. it isn't what you look like, but rather what you do, what actions you take against others, that proves just how big a monster you are.
I bet she ends up exploring the forest, spending more time in there, and eventually just visiting her adoptive mom occasionally =)
Whose story is simple and straightforward never judge a person or in this case a troll by their appearance
Wonderful short! Beautifully animated and written. I liked how at the end the village Women's Circle intervened and let everyone know to leave the girl be :).
I wish I could join this community of creative animators.
Even, a Monster, needs respect.
This reminds me a lot of an animated film we'd have seen in the early-mid 2000s. And I mean that in a good way.
It's really beautiful the animation and the story. Thank you really very much ❤
i love the simplicity of the artwork. the colors are simple but stand out very well.
I love the design of everything in this short. From the people to the troll girl and the monster. I hope that the village will one day at except her. But at least she has her nun mother.
BEAUTIFUL piece!! I LOVED it!! You all did an AMAZING job!! Keep it up! I can’t WAIT to see more!! ☺️🙂
Ideas like this has made me wonder if Earth could've had a second Species that forced us to learn to coexist with overtime, bridge differences and realize there were common similarities to share. Instead Humanity's ancient History is nothing but eradicating everything different.
We did have others around, homosapians mated with them. Now we carry minor amounts of their DNA.
This is beautiful! i love the style and the art is so soft looking!
You sure she's a troll? She's covered in fur. And she's walking in the sun, She shoulda turned to stone. I think she's a Bugbear.
Depends on the troll. The trolls in Elder scrolls for example have fur and are just fine in sunlight.
You have to love yourself as you are, you shouldn't change everything about yourself just because you are uncomfortable with it. I really connected with that when the Nun threw away the cloak. Love yourself to the core, changing everything about yourself won't make you happier.
Beautiful animation I especially love how the night sky is portrayed the stars they’re so beautiful.
The only thing I wanna know was why the girl's mom left her in a human orphanage. Everything else made sense and was BEAUTIFUL.
It wasn't necessarily her mom, the creature wasn't a troll like the baby so it's possible she was another creature finding a safe home for her.
The townspeople accused her mother of witchcraft and for falling in love with a troll. After her mother died at the hands of the townspeople, Troll Girl's heartbroken father sent his newborn daughter at a human orphanage in order to keep her safe

This is gorgeous!
This was so beautifully done
Beautiful short film 🎞️ 🍿🥤awesome 👏🏻 thank u for sharing ☮️💖
this was breathtaking!
Criativa e bela!!! Merecia um longa metragem, desde que elaborado pelos mesmos realizadores!!! ❤❤❤❤
This deserves a whole movie.
Well hopefully she gets accepted and gets a happy ending if there is a sequel or two.
Beautiful flame work!
Poor girl. I've been there, bullied just for looking different. And no matter what, nothing you do will change that to most people. And of course the men still want to hurt her even after saving them.
I was being bullied too
Thanks Kay, great animation 👍
A very very good and beautiful story !
I loved it ! Thank you so much ! 💚
This should be a full length movie
Stunning, beautiful style
Those blue flames make me think they are will o wisps
Lovely…I cried…
Everyone's worrying about the story, but I'm the only one who's like: But she CAN'T go into the SUN
I mean... how has that bit of knowledge been forgotten?
That depends on the troll story, it's not the same in all of them.
The life of an internet troll can be long and arduous...
Beautifully done! I applaud everyone involved.
Wow, how Karkat Vantas has changed in a new dimension.
I like the video and animation so far, (at 2:21 right now) only think that bothered me is the fact that when the troll was blushing, it isn’t how real blushing works for people who ain’t what people consider “caucasion” or “white”
Self realization and Self Acceptance are the greatest love there is, nothing can stop you when you know You. take it from an Olde Ogre, Me.
That was powerful
This is such a beautiful story. Embrace who and what you are!
Even if I can't be beautiful at least I can be strong.
It is touching when people could and should accept you for what you are 🥹❤️
This was beautiful. Great work!
Beautiful. I’m so glad I came across this. Thank you ❤
You can say a lot without words.
Marcello Studer - I'm 'Bout To Die Again
Awesome.
This was me in elementary school, people bullied me and told me I was the ugliest girl in the world.. told me I’d never be married because of how I looked. Turned out it was a race thing in my elementary school. They hated me for my looks based on my hair skin and eye color. I also acted very neurodivergent and would bark and whine like a dog as well as just be the odd one always.
So I would be totally out casted by everyone other than the other special kids.
Kids are not scared and are brutally honest about looks and behavior if they don’t like it.
I’m scared of people and have social anxieties thanks to the bullying. Even when I moved to a new elementary school. I was still bullied by my peers because I acted so different from everyone. I was afraid of being physically or mentally harmed. I hated who I was. I hated being a girl as well at that time. 9 year old me got my period and grew into the Sasquatch with bumps on my chest. And my periods were the worst and so painful. Teachers hated me for some reason because I did not look special needs but I very much was and therefore they decided to call me lazy and not help me when I struggled in school on math and remembering things for tests. They told me I was a liar about my brain because I was so good at masking my bad ways due to bullying. Kids still hurt me more mentally than anything. They hated me for how tall I was then. I was still an out cast. Not for my race but now for my defensive actions.
I was still called ugly and stupid. I felt like I wasn’t human. And I wanted to end game at 10 years old. So I got child therapy… my parents toxic relationship and neglect in the house did not help me either. They also thought my brain was lazy for learning something and then the next day forgetting all that I’ve learned… they told me I just don’t listen I just don’t take it seriously. And college threw me out and told I didn’t deserve help because I looked normal to them… now I’m an adult. Still have self hate issues. I’m still scared of the world. I still feel like I’m not human or not like others in so many ways brain wise. I feel like I’m still the scared troll and I haven’t been able to loose my hood and coat. I have layers of hoods and coats on still. I want to be brave and find a lasting job that will work with my neurodivergence but I always get told I look and talk like I don’t need help… I wonder why that is…
I didn’t read it all because it’s very negative but it seems like you hate yourself
@@m00nvale. Why did you feel the need to even post then?
can you not post on peoples comments if you don’t even care?
You're not ugly just people are jealous or judge you for no reason I hope you're okay
Sadly that's how society is built, it all a machine that builds on itself adding new gears, sprockets, and what not. Its not built to have unique things like you or I. All we can do is fight for our place in society and hope that at the end of the day we cover up enough to not have the machine notice our shape.
Ps. Also don't take what everyone says to heart most of the general populace only think they know what their talking about.
I was bullied in middle school and I hope you're alright
