Damn, I am at work and have looked all over the Internet trying to find out what’s wrong, thank you so much for the video. I’m not home but I guarantee you when I check it. That’s what it is thanks.
My trimmer quit turning or slightly turning with no power. At best, I've had this self propelled mower for just under a year. I will try this and hope it does the trick. Thanks so much for this video!!!
My guy - perfect explanation of my exact same problem. You can actually see the belt behind the shroud and not even have to remove it, by tilting the trimmer the other way. But yes spot on. Many thanks, for your time and video.
This is exactly what I needed! I’ve had my Premier for a little over a week and the belt has come completely loose at one time. I put it back on and now the spinning head tends to “Slip”. I’l follow your instructions and I hope it solves this issue.
Just bought one and it seems kinda weak. At the lever, it seems almost too easy to pull. I'm definitely checking this out! Fantastic video, thank you!!!
Thank goodness! I bought mine just last year , my belt looks great hopefully this will fix it! Its been sounding like the belt been slipping ,and of course its not cutting as well. Thanks for sharing!😇
I just bought my Trimmer and it quit turning the first day and I did exactly as you said and it did the trick. Thank you so much. You were so easy for a not so bright women to understand. !!
It is not necessary to remove the shroud to increase the tension on the belt. Increasing the tension on the belt is done only by the adjustment of the "in line" fitting on the cable. The reference to removing covers to access the belt is confusing and unnecessary to increase tension on the belt. Also referring to the problem as a "lack of power" is not helpful. This is a belt tension issue not a motor/lack of power problem.
Belt is pristine. No tension adjustment, just straight cable. POS. Two years in and all it does is slap the weeds! Worked fine for a season! The last one I had lasted 20 years with just an oil change every season! I replaced it and got one year! I hear DR got bought out and their products aren't the same.
I agree with the THANKS for the belt tensioning idea. After opening mine up completely, I found an idler pulley (the flat pulley) was shredded. I was able to tighten up the belt as stated above, but this is a temporary fix for me. My unit is still under 6 months old, BUT I also had a long stretch of baling twine wrap my trimmer head. Hard to find the part numbers on the DR site. It is Generac: 310931 for the idler pulley and Gates PoweRated 6744 belt for the 2020 Premier trimmer.

Gotta love YT and you guys that are willing to help. This is exactly what I needed. thanks so much.
I got a new Cub Cadet and DR Trimmer. Today I tried the DR and couldn't cut grass so now time to make a video on my channel as well.

also check beyond that to the transmission belt as well. DR says these can stretch over time.

Zip tie the cable to shorten also .
Since you did not have to replace the belt and can adjust it from that upper bolt, is it necessary to remove the shroud?

Mine has one string that broke off and I can't push or pull it out. And another string hole keeps flinging out the string ,WTF ? 🙄😆
Suggestions ?
Thanks o lot for your time to explain this problem.👍👍👍
