I have been the trumpet and baritone since i was in 5th grade. I decided to jump to a euphonium as a challenge . I purchesed a student model Euphonium (Mandini) to practice. I have to say this learning video has been very helpful. I will watch it again and again.
I play the flute in class then I am playing baritone in marching band so this is a huge change I’ve never touched a baritone before but I feel like this made me more comfortable with playing it
nice demonstration i really learned a new skills and steps by step to become a good euphonium player! your video is so helpful and effective so when i practice I'll apply all this
I’ve played the trumpet since 6th grade, I’m in 9th grade now and my band director wants me to either play euphonium or French horn. I’ll update when it’s chosen.
Euphonium is definitely worth it, you finger like trumpet but you read trombone. I am in 8th grade and I am a professional euphonium player so I hope you pick it!
Euphonium OR Baritone, they're two separate instruments. One is a tenor-variant of the Tuba, and the other is a tenor-pitched member of the Saxhorn family.
Actually, they’re both the same instrument. The difference is the baritone maintains a consistent bore size throughout the majority of the instrument, but the euphonium has a conical shape which means the bore size gradually gets bigger from the mouthpiece to the bell. These differences affect the tone of the instrument.
@@matthewpotts9466 @Matthew Potts Your description alone proves why they're NOT the same instrument. They're the same length of tubing, along with the Trombone, but a cornet, trumpet, a flugelhorn are the same length as each other too, with all still being notably different.
Alex Paulsen what I mean is the only difference between them is the tone they produce. The names only refer to the type of tubing they have.In every other aspect they are exactly the same.Any euphonist could pick up a baritone and play it with the same proficiency that they play the euphonium.
@@matthewpotts9466 A truck and a sedan are the same thing. anyone who knows how to drive a truck can drive a sedan with the same proficiency. do you see how that statement is fundamentally flawed? yeah their both vehicles but they have different use cases and are different classes of vehicle.
My brother plays euph, trombone, and tuba and i also wanna play it i told him that BUT he doesn’t really play in band anymore since he started high school. Plus i play percussion (usually bass and marimba) but I’ve been way more interested in brass instruments so like yeah 😀
I’m a bassoonist, so for college I’m playing the marching baritone for our marching band! Luckily I know how to transpose if I need to play baritone t.c
I am from India. Most important musical instrument the Baritone demands high post in the field of the orchestra arena. The artist is very concentrated about the instrument. Thanks
I bought a beautiful French horm from a friend who was moving. where can I find songs to play? I figured out how to make sounds, but thats it. thank you
That instrument you're holding is not a baritone horn - it's a euphonium. And for the benefit of Americans who don't seem to grasp the difference, it's like this. A euph has a far more conical bore and a larger bell than a baritone, so it has a richer and more mellow sound than a baritone; the baritone has a less conical bore and smaller bell, giving it a brighter and punchier sound. If you like, the difference between the euph and baritone is like the difference between a cornet and a trumpet. That's why British type brass bands have two euphs and two baritones in their line-up. Different tools for different jobs. You're welcome, and yes - I know I'm a patronising bar steward.
Master Wilds | I think he means the model he plays it a professional model. Which is odd because you typically wouldn’t start a student on a professional model. Makes me wonder if they’re actually playing on a non-compensating 3+1 valve euphonium.
I wanna play the euphonium
Edit: I now play that
Soo wrong my band was harsh
Our school has a class band me and my friend play the euphonium
@@cats5355 same I'm in beginning band

It’s 1 am, it’s a school night, I have finals tomorrow, I’m in high school and been playing euphonium for over 3 years. Why am I watching this
Moving from tuba to baritone. I got the air down
Been playing tuba for 6 years. Switching to baritone for section issues. Not enough baritones.
Is Adam frey?
Yes, is Adam Frey
I have heard some people teach that the corners of the mouth should be slightly down rather than up. Does it matter?
yessir
Are baritone and euphonium the same fingering

I play alto and bari sax trombone and sokn euphonium

0:59 , this man is armed and ready
I only searched this up cause I'm switching from trumpet to baritone i just wanted to know how you buzz on it-
You buzz in exactly the same way as on a trumpet - the embouchure is just more open and more relaxed.
Not the water key... too many mamories of seeing the trumpet section empty their spit in my periphery... 😩
I play trombone but I want to switch to euphonium
itll be easy once you learn fingerings
Thank you .
Is that why you are here?!!
U-um if you know what I mean
It looks like your tongue comes all the way between your lips. Is that really the way you articulate?
lol i’m a 3rd year euphonium player in 8th grade also a soloist
I want to play the American style baritone (bellfront)
Utilize means that you use something for what is was not designed. Just say used.
I play the 4 valved euphonium
But do you actually play it using all 4 valves?
Alex Paulsen yeah
They both have four valves, once the other one goes away he plays on a compensated professional euphonium, where the fourth valve is on the side
