Meeting of generations: Bobbie Gentry (the '60s) and Jody Reynolds (the '50s). Magical record; a modern mix of the master - if it still exists - would be sorta wonderful, actually..
Either release date is believable; 1963 fits with Global Dog's Titan discography, but there is another record shortly after in the same numbering series dated 1967 - and a large time gap between. The recording quality sounds like 1963 to my ears. Whenever it was, this is just beautiful!
But the musical style is totally 1966. As Lilian Roxon's 1969 'Rock Encyclopedia' has it. Sounds like a cross between an early Byrds track and Sonny and Cher's 1966 single 'Little Man'. Agree how great it is.
There is absolutely no way in hell this came out in 1963. Lillian Roxon''s original rock encyclopedia published in 1969 lists it as released in 1966 which makes total sense. Musically, it's a sort of cross between 1965 Byrds jingle-jangle folk rock and 1966 Sonny and Cher 'Little man' style exotica or Donovan electric gypsy folk. NO-ONE was making that sort of sound in 1963.
WOW! Correct credits: Bobbie Gentry and Jody Reynolds "Requiem For Love" (Titan 1736, October 1967) "Requiem For Love" was probably waxed in 1963, but unissued until Gentry hit it big with "Ode To Billie Joe" in 1967. The Titan single never charted, but this duet is fantastic.
Never heard of this one and a very cool track from 67. Too bad this song could've been a hit.

Picture signed to Kim Fowley - a true genius! Great record.
1963 with Bobby Gentry - you can see where Nancy and Lee got their inspiration from :) Great song!
