The "Flight of Five" locks are and were an absolutely amazing feat of 19th century engineering. The 60 foot rise was initially a freakin' cliff that they had to blast through and figure out a way to raise the boats from bottom to top. What you can see today in Lockport is the 2nd iteration of the flight of five. At some point when technology improved they were able to covert part of it to a two lock system (2 instead of 5) that carries boat traffic in modern times -- but the flight of 5 (decommissioned) is still there for all to admire. In terms of Erie Canal history, this is as good as it gets!

Love your videos. Hope you get your passport soon. Come to Canada. If you come over the bridges in Niagara Falls, we have Clifton hill, Niagara on the Lake, the screaming tunnel, Nightingale mill, longest running flour mill run by water wheel, the Welland Canal in St. Catharines and so many other interesting things to check out.

Another great video! Expecially, enjoyed the ending, I'm like no way glass milk bottles...takes me back to when I was little, mom would drop me off mid-milk route to my grandma (grandpa was a milkman, yes I was the milkman granddaughter) and got to ride in the milk truck, they stood to drive. That was his morning job, in the afternoons he ran his gravel truck business. Thank you for memory lane.

I volunteered for the haunted caves in early 2000s. My dad got the city to let us use the trolley for our storyline on the drive down to the park outside of the entrance. Love my hometown, hate the fact that my brother graduated with Tim McVeigh.

Whatttt??? You came to my town and I didn’t get to take a selfie with the Babe Bus! I Guess I still have to keep imagining how tall you actually are. I’m a staff photographer with the Lockport and Niagara newspapers and I’ve many friends in your profession here. You seem to be born to tell stories! Before heading out to do a hot story one day, an editor once said to me, and I think it suits you, “Have Fun and Show No Fear.” Safe travels.

Outstanding video! I started watching your channel because you are a fellow van-dweller (I will be soon). But you surprised me by your expert level of video making and I very much appreciate you showing us around parts of America I have never heard of, let alone will likely never see in person. I like to follow other channels who are related to van life in some way and sadly though I would have never discovered your channel had it not been for that. So, Thank you.

I'm so glad you're in New York State, so much history and cool things to explore there. I'm originally from the Hudson Valley's Rhinebeck/Hyde Park area. There are quite a few historic buildings with beautiful architecture there. A real gem near Hudson, NY is Olana, the home of Hudson River School painter, Frederic Church. Olana is a gorgeous and unique structure. I thought I'd mention that in case you made your way to that area. I really enjoyed seeing the caves of Lockport and history of the town. Wonderful video. Safe travels!

I can’t believe this. First you’re in Texas just mins from me ..Hamilton’s pool, Austin. I was sooo excited. Now I’m mins from Lockport visiting family n Amherst. When you were talking about Canada and NY, I told my sister “OMG, my favorite UA-camr is probably in this area”... very exciting since the 20th is one month in my van.
So I’ve been looking for you..grew up in the Lockport area..small harbor town called Wilson that has a great history because during prohibition the town was one of the safest areas to get into with their bootleg. Check it out if you’re still in the area. Luv ya girl!
