I have a neighbor with this problem who cannot open door from inside or outside on right rear on 2007 Rondo. this gives me a great starting point but I will try using the door trim removal tools, instead of a flat screwdriver. I have just opened mine using the thin card (ideally, you need something longer than credit card, but similar in thickness) open the door that works to see the location and go to the locked door from inside. You can fold down the back seat to create some room for yourself. The location to stick the card to the door seam is just slightly higher than the handle pannel on the interior. From there, when you feel that card stopped on down ward motion, means you reached the child lock switch... push a little harder and it should go down to the open position ( thankfully kia made it down to be open and up to be closed:) ) In my case it seams that my curious daughter just poked this switch closed while the door was open and I did not noticed that... Even though the video is pretty cool and didn't even know that you can take the mannel off with closed door... i I was thinking of taking my door off to fix this lock...but than saw a comment on forum to use the credit card and so glad it worked😊 Good luck for everyone who will face this issue in the future 😄
I used a plastic gift card and bent it to countour into that spot where the child safety lock is and unlocked it, i didnt take apart anything. It fit and worked fine. Try it next time.
When that happened to my Kia caren were my door didn’t open inside and outside. I wound the window down and pulled on the two handles together. That worked great.
Much easier way to open the door to do repair. Just open your inside door handle and you will see a small silver wire . many times you can take a flat head screw driver and push on the wire and the door will open Much easier to pull the inside door panel off when the door is open. Kia typically has 1 or 2 screws. Pop off the panel with the door open sand then diagnose your problem.
I have a Kia Carmen and now and again I couldn't open the door from the both sides. What I did was, to wind the window down and pull on the both handles simultaneously, that's the inside and outside handles and it works. The door opens
Same here. I used on old gift card. I had to put it in quite deep so I was holding the end with pliers and pushed it down with a screwdriver; about 5 seconds later I was able to open the door.
My door is on a Kia carens, identical looking panel. But my problem is the front passenger door that won’t open. I have two extra screws, one is on the opposite bottom and in the end of the panel. The panel is so rigid, I can’t see how you manage to take it off. Good video all the same 👍

After yanking the rubber off the panel I tried a few credit cards but resorted to a putty knife that went in firmly through the narrow crevice and based on the location of the childlock on the other (good) side yanked down to release the lock mechanism, and to my delight the door opened (after over five years). It opens only from the inside but that will help for now. Much relief. No need to remove the door panel.

I was able to push child lock switch open in 3secs with a credit card from inside. Still have to fix outside handle though.
