  • Palm Beach is one of the most beautiful places in Florida, has some of the most magnificent buildings and mansions anywhere, and is home to some of the wealthiest people in the world. Today I talk about how it became the winter playground of the rich and famous and explore this amazing town.

    Also I have some Pictures my Great Grandpa took inside the "Breakers" during the 1930's. The pic's are AMAZING. I keep telling myself to mail the Pic's to a manager at "the Breakers" so they don't end up in the bottom of a box never to be seen again.

    I was born & Raised in W.P.B., Grandma worked Meryle Lynch For (in Palm Bch) 25yrs, and Grandpa was a bookkeeper for "the Breakers". I ran the Philips 66 Trunk stop in front of Port from 1980-1987 (Now wiped out by an UGLY bridge). The Palm Bch ppl all came to me for diesel because I was the closet place to buy SAFE diesel. Palm bch only had 1 gas station and thou it carried diesel, diesel gets mucky if it sits in the well to long, screwing up your engine. I then worked at "The Speakeasy (now E.R. Bradleys on Flagler Dr), then the Comedy Corner before moving to Merritt Island. I'm not a museum fan, but I could spend all day everyday at "The Flagler Museum". What ppl fail to mention about this museum is when he built this place we did not have a/c, yet he built it in such a way that there's always a beautiful breeze coming thru. "The Breaker's" is in one word INSANE!! You have no idea what over-indulgence is until you spend an evening at "The Breakers". Palm Bch ppl are VERY different from the rest of us. You see 45-80plus yr old women wearing so much make-up they don't look real, and the gowns (OMG)!! they always have some beautiful adoring gay man hanging on their every word. These men are called "Walkers". "Walkers" are very well taken care of men, who (For a price) will do everything from escort the ladies to sleep with them. The majority have no concept of reality (I guess they don't have to with all that money). I wish I was financially well off, but I do NOT envy the lifestyle. The women simply accept that their husbands will rarely be around (often playing with a young mistress somewhere) hence the reason for "Walkers". As a 16yr old girl running that Truck Stop there were many occasions when I was offered $1000's of dollars to just attend a charity ball and 'Act" like their girlfriend!? I NEVER accepted, because I didn't trust any of them. If it sounds to good to be true it is. But make no mistake Palm Bch is beautiful. It's a place everyone should see at least once in their life. I loved shopping at the "Publix" in Palm Bch because it had valet parking, and I could buy my "Split's" of Moet Star there LOL.

      Yvette, thank you so much for sharing and watching the video. Would I love to interview you you’re the people who know the history I’ve been here 30 years and I did see a lot of changes even from Palm Beach where I used to take care of office equipment for some of the homes who had fax machines and many of the businesses, it is a very interesting island and you’re absolutely right. It’s a completely different world that most people will never know or understand right or wrong. It’s still very unique and I do plan to do more videos about it because it’s a fascinating place. Thank you for sharing that amazing history. Would love to talk to you more sometime.

      Thanks Carl really appreciate that. These are the kind of videos I actually love to make the most, unfortunately I'm caught in between trying to be a real estate agent who makes videos in the hopes people will call me to help them buy a house and the guy who loves telling stories about living in in South Florida.

      @@PalmBeachesPaul I get what you’re saying. I’ve made several apartment walk-through videos when I lived in Vietnam and one here in The Philippines. To do them well is a chore, but they get thousands of views. I don’t have any need to make such videos so I stopped, and going forward I’m going to just show off the natural beauty of these islands and the adventures I have here. It’s a lot more enjoyable and creative.

    Hi, where exactly were you walking? Looks so nice. Is it possibly to park free somewhere or is it expensive? Thank you~

    • @PalmBeachesPaul
      @PalmBeachesPaul  Рік тому

      Depends on what section of the video you're asking about, in the beginning section I was walking along the lake trail and there are parking places but I think it's metered parking but not too expensive and then later in the video I'm walking on Worth Avenue and yes the parking around there is free if you can find it, as far as shopping, yes very expensive it's like Rodeo drive in Beverly Hills.

      That is called the lake trail and it’s on the island of Palm Beach and if you ask anyone over on the island they can point you to it as far as parking, there’s meters all along the road.

    A totally delusional view of Palm Beach. The 10,000 population has about 88% millionaires running an exclusive social community.. The Palm Beach season lasts from November to April where parties, balls, and social clubs rule the day. The useful tourist idiots are outclassed by the social reality of being super-rich in Palm Beach.
