I picked up a Talwar w the 5 1/2 inch blade, CTS-XHP steel and FDE G10 handles a few years ago directly from Cold Steel from a mailer they sent me. Absolutely love it, such a beast and scary sharp. Probably my favorite CS knife in my collection

Cold steel doesn't make junk. You have to love how their knives are more simple and bare bones, not too flashy, but they're absolutely built like tanks, so you know it's a tool you can trust in a life or death situation. I've collected CS over the years, and they're hidden throughout my house. That way, wherever I'm at, there's a knife nearby.

When C.S. discontinued the Talwar it had CTS-XHP Steel , I sold my Blue handled XL , but I still have the Large 4" version with XHP ....👍🖖

I had the same issue with my new Talwar XL. It locked up solid when I waved it from the pocket. I just kept working it until it smoothed up. I do like the way you worked yours over though. I wouldn't mind having a lefty clip and a 4-1/2" version also. I believe GSM offers a 4" version so that would probably work also. Thanks for the great reviews. 👍

Gotta get that knife to , Aus8a & Aus10a are good steels and S35VN is great for edge retention.
You can get one every now and then from Cold Steel with a small issue because I have a Recon 1 that rattle especially when closed from side to side.
But it always locks up good and strong and I'm proud to have a back up of the Recon 1 and eventually I would like to say that about the Talwar.XL.

I have now purchased two at two different times the first one is good , but the second one has the same lock issue as yours had before you worked on it , I put in for a replacement from Amazon on the second one and I hope it's as good as the first , glad you could straighten your Talwar out without any problems ⚔️⚖️⚔️

Right on, Bro. That's what I have had to do with a lot of my Old Tri-Ad Lock Folders. I think the new one's were made the same way as the old one's. I find all of mine that I carry. I always like to make them as smooth as possible. Right o , Bro! :-) Enjoy! :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

Ur right man, I’ve got both, I carry both, and both those knives are the real deal. I think cold steels heat treat on the 8cr13mov is great.

With Steels, what matters is that the steel works for you; that's what important. Just, about all Modern Steels make great Self-Defense Tools, even the Chinese Steels make great Self-Defense Steels. And, that's what the Luzon Flipper is, it's a Self-Defense Mega Folder. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

Man that sucks...I am pretty sure that you received a bad QC’d example. Mine was good to go out of the box...but glad that you got it working how you need it to work.
    Thanks for the video.

Sweet video! What did you use to knock the edges off of the tri ad lock button?

Hey man. The problem you got with this knife has been happening ever since Cold Steel was sold. I had a Recon 1 and Ultimate Hunter from Original Cold Steel that were flawless since day 1. I ordered one from the new Cold Steel and the damed thing wouldn't even open. I sent it back for another one and it had the worst action ever. I had to do the same work on it thatyou did.

The one thing that kinda annoys me about Coldsteel is that even though their knives are made in Taiwan they still have the high prices.

It's a defective knife exchange it.

Hate this knife. The seized up lock is a common issue because it's defective. The handle looks like an XL recon. If you wanted a nice 5.5in knife should have gone with the espada

If you’re basing that off JOEX videos (which I’m glad he’s getting recognition) the reason the SR1 lite seemed so much better is because the cheaper softer steel is more likely to bend while the tougher steel that holds an edge longer is more likely to bend less simply because that’s how physics works
The tougher the steel the more brittle it is
The xhp these used to come with would have you saying s35vn is tougher because xhp holds an edge longer but it’s even more brittle than s35vn

Cold steels are cheap because they're made in the far east. Voyager xl is just as good, for $50
