Sorry son, I know you are really trying hard at this new job and you are doing so well! Your mother and I have been so thankful for all of the presents" you have "borrowed" from the office too. I love the new pens! And tell your boss that we love the new couch. Ok son, I will let you go and we will see you when you get home. :) Good boy.
Easily take this over an Audi A5. You can see similarities but this is much sexier and sharper, has a more distinct design and then there's it's obscurity so it'll stay relatively (compared to an A5) rare on the road and that makes it a bit more special and more noticeable. Particularly here in Australia with only the one version. I've only seen 1 of these on the road before so I'd say they're selling quite poorly.
Hi RB, Firstly, absolutely first class review, bravo! I have the last of the V6 Passat Highline Sedans, and to date I've yet to find any euro car with that value/performance equation. I'm due to update but just haven't been able to give up my love affair with the that beautiful 220kw V6.....the response and exhaust note, the torque, the smile it puts on my face everyday I drive it. The Arteon looks to have serious street presence and very impressive tech, but how does the turbo 4 pot compare? I know it has the same basic 0-100km/hr performance etc, but most performance 4's I've driven feel "tinnie" and lack that effortless acceleration, response, and pull that the performance 6 & 8's have. The exhaust notes in the 4's are typically asthmatic as well. How does this one sound and behave in person? Many thanks, Mark Melbourne,Australia.
All nice cars Henry and all in the same price range even if the Arteon is a lot bigger than the A4 and C-Class. The C-Class is 4686mm long, the A4 is 4726mm, while the Arteon is 4862mm end to end. That means you'll have stacks more room in the Arteon - both cabin space and luggage capacity. So it depends on if you need the room and cargo carrying ability, and also what your parking situation is like at home/work. The Arteon is the best value for money and has the equivalent tech and features of the other two - but lacks the luxury of a Benz and the prestige of an Audi. My brain says Arteon, but my ego says Benz. Good luck, mate. RB
Had a test drive, launch control was amazing but roll on acceleration from around 80 kilometres was very poor, dealership put it down to the new 7 speed. The Passat which has the 6 speed is much better at pick up and go.
Was gonna consider getting this car until you mentioned it’s frameless door. I hate frameless designs. Make the doors sound tinny and loses side structural integrity. Bummer.....
@@jamesrulznow Not the greatest update, but you do get more engines to choose from, including a new R edition, depending on where you live. A full light bar integrated into the front bumper, more tech, revised cluster, infotainment system etc. I don't think it was a bad car to begin with. We actually bought a used one here in QLD for around the 40K mark just last week.
VW Arteon lift-back 5 door coupe looks sleek, streamlined and turbine turbo-charged than a VW Passat notchback went extinct but no VW I.D 7 (electric sedan with obsolete RWD and monotonous rear drum brakes) shall be brought to Australia indirectly replace as a Passat sedan.
Yes, sort of, but the Arteon is mid-way between the Passat and Phaeton. The Stinger is good - I'm writing a review on the four-cylinder now, well I should be, but I'm procrastinating here. Do you reckon Volkswagen fans might take a bit of persuading to step into a Kia? RB
VW vs Kia what a joke 😂😂 the only thing what Kia have is that a bit faster nothing else. The quality on VW Interior & Exterior vs Kia is not to be talk at all.
I don't think it's 30K more than a similarly spec'd Superb, is it? When I test drove the Superb, I found the cabin to be pretty noisy - if the Arteon is better, I'd definitely be willing to pay a premium for that alone, for use as a limo. (I don't think the Arteon has enough rear head room, though, unfortunately. I'll go and have a look at one, but I'm not optimistic)
Drove this car and can I say it goes like crap!!! No Power or Torque for such a beautiful looking car. SHAME!!!! Needs more powerful engines, feels like your driving a 4 cylinder Camry.
But Arteon it is a 4 cyl car with Turbo petrol engine 2.0L 206kw And this car is for people who like VW who enjoy the driving on this luxury car, not for people who can't wait to find bad things or small rock in the middle of the Ocean.
How can you say it has a great interior when it's basically a Passat interior with digital gauges and new infotainment system? It looks very boring inside
Gonzarelli it's boring because they went through the effort of coming up with a different exterior and yet interior is no different to a car that already existed.
The Arteon and Passat do have similar looking cabins, but this is normal throughout most car brands and their models: BMW interiors don't vary hugely between models, nor Benz's, gosh pick any other brand and you'll see the continuity of design language across their models which ties them together as a family and while sharing of parts and exploiting the economy of scale. But I understand what you're saying, it'd would have been nice for the Arteon's insides to be differentiated more from the Passat's. Still reckon it's an immaculate looking cabin. RB
Rob Row 5.6 seconds 0-100 isn't "piss weak" in my books - it's a BLOODY STRONG engine! However, being a limo driver, yes, I would definitely prefer a larger, normally aspirated engine, along with a conventional transmission. (and I see that the American market *does* in fact get a conventional tranny - lucky them!) Reason for both is quietness & smoothness. I currently have the LS3 based Caprice and it is totally sublime.
Ok looking?! Wow, it’s stunning if you ask me and most other people. 4cl turbo is very much the future, lighter, better fuel economy and punchy performance do best you get used to it (and then electric power!!) ha ha
Well you cannot really rely on all that high safety Tech because it can have some Glitches like any computer Remember the Tesla Electric shit box when it was in Full Autopilot Mode , it killed its Owner. This car is not a deal breaker its not a Toyota so il pass
You can't rely on all those human being drivers either - remember human being glitches are almost always the reason for every road accident. Also check yer facts on Tesla. RB
Keep driving Toyotas that are 10 yrs behind with gutless motor and handle and drive like tractors. Let's face it Toyotas are for the poor man average joe
Now that is one awesome looking car.
Arteon is a big car very nice and very.spacious Richard nice review
It looks longer than it really is, but it's still bigger than an Audi A5. Thanks Charlie RB
Love your work Richard Berry. Your reviews are very entertaining 👍
Awww mate, thanks - glad ya like 'em. RB
omg ok give this guy a payrise!!! Best car reviewer i've seen in a long time :)
Dad! Stop it! RB

Superb review - with humor and passion. Greetings from Poland!

Top review !! Nice fresh approach!!
Mate! You rock! Thank you for such smashing review.
Thanks dude. RB
wot a good design.. fantastic design language from volkswagen..
Agreed. Richard Berry
I like this car styling
It reminds me of a c-class coupe from behind.
Yes! Those tail lights, right? RB
CarsGuide correct
c class coupe reminds me of VW CC from behind
Great review, just enough humour!
Well done! Great review - Amazing car!!!
Thanks and yes it's pretty amazing - especially the safety stuff. RB
3:40 bloody hell what camera was this taken with, it looks amazing
Nice review, Harry Kane
New cc?
Great review, not many are these days
Great review, I am tossing up between this, Audi A4 and Mercedes C class...thoughts?

was this video shot in Hobart, Tasmania?
Yes, yes it was. RB

Very nice! Great review. Great to see a few Audi A5 features to be more affordable
Serious question though, was it comfortable in the trunk? Since you are 191 lol
Love at my first Sight#Bought it
You're drunk Steve, we barely know each other... RB
Gorgeous!!
Was gonna consider getting this car until you mentioned it’s frameless door. I hate frameless designs. Make the doors sound tinny and loses side structural integrity. Bummer.....
Perhaps on some cars, but there's nothing tinny sounding or any compromised integrity with the Arteon. Cheers Richard
my dream actualy!! vw s2
You like Volkswagen lots don't you thiago? RB
When is the next Arteon coming? This is been there since 2017
End of this year. 😁
@@asum307 such a small update to the facelift

I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEW ARTEON
Damn that sloping roof line! Form over function - I'd rather a flat roof and more head room!
Vw❤

VW king of cars is the Phideon the arteon beneath it. Great review
Thank you Marcel. Well the new king is the Arteon, the Phaeton has been discontinued. RB
VW Arteon is better than a Toyota 86 in my opinion
Apparently quicker than a Stinger GT.
(In the twisties)
Or maybe a Toyota 86
Are there trying the Phaeton thing again, BTW, i would take the Kia Stinger instead of this..
RB

Get a skoda...same car?
Is that really a review or just a sponsored advertisement ?
lol... is that question or just a comment? RB
No mention that it is a copy of the superb...for 30k more.
Ha ha ha.... wait, actually hang on.... ; ) RB

Arteon definition: "ok looking car with a piss weak engine." Wake up Volkswagen. Give us a twin turbo v6 in this.
