A more correct way of saying it is,
If we don't phase out fossil fuels fast enough, we won't be able to achieve the limit of 1.5°. C. Increase
But saying that the world would fall into chaos if we changed and did the right thing..
Is very similar to slave owners saying that this nation was built on slavery and without it we can't imagine a better future. So we won't.
Well said
Unfortunately I don't think anything we do now will have any effect for hundreds of years, like someone dying of lung cancer giving up smoking the damage to the Earth is already done.
Humanities best chance of survival is to try and adapt to the changing world.
He did not clarify or say what the misrepresentation was. So he said nothing.
Was he referring to the "misrepresentation" on the recording of him talking down to people and ignoring the science?
@@backacheache Well, his full reply makes it clear what he means by orderly transition is that people like him are in control of the process. This after tens of seconds licking his lizard lips.
American living in Portugal here. Portugal regularly runs on 87% renewables and last month ran for 6 days on 100% renewables with energy to spare. Its in several publications if you Google it
It’s actually very impressive what Portugal has done. Unfortunately it’s a lot harder to do in a country with 100x the land mass and 33x the population. At least in such a short amount of time.
Are you sure it was "6 days"?
@@tyronejackson6593it should actually be easier in a larger country with more room for solar and wind.
@@Paulo44.01 The issue isn’t space for those things it’s infrastructure. And also consumption.
It's simple, Arrogance and cronyism. There is one thing that's become apparent, these people are scared, it's either people are tired of fossil fuels price swings or people just want to live their short lives stewarding the place they live.
This is Blackadder levels of absurdity, the man whos job it is to sell you oil is telling you that everything is fine? Fantastic!
An oil exec against phasing out fossil fuels?
Gee, he MuSt have a ToTaLlY unbiased opinion when he made those statements. I "definitely" trust thet an oil exec knows "everything" about "everything" and has our best needs at heart and would never lie to keep turning a profit.... 😂😂
He said the quiet part out loud
If the entire world stopped emitting all greenhouse gases we still have to remove the excess greenhouses gases we have added to the atmosphere. Phasing out fossil fuels is not enough. Renewables are not the answer even if they were a viable alternative, which they are not
Oil companies want what's best for you.😐
There's a reason these are called "cop talks"! 💩
Ha ha ha ha yes, he is 100% correct, fossil fuels wont have the slightest effect.
Back pedaling 😂
You guys are wrong.
You should hear the full recording.
You shouldn't cherry pick.
Please illuminate us with the full quote, or let us know where we can find it.

The earth goes through climate cycles, get used to it. Ever hear of the Ice Age?
We are just 75,000 years ahead of schedule. Considering that most major climate changes happened 100,000 years apart and it's only been 25,000 years since the last one.
@@thatgreenguy3969 Ok Al Gore, tell us more about your "scientific" predictions.
@@caycug1it doesn’t matter what you think, you’re a nobody
What if the WEF making the world change to electric cars is also a conflict of interest?
Send me your money and I'll fix the climate for you.
Good luck. Can't fix stupid.
We are not at a level of society, technology to eliminate fossil fuels yet. All these clean energy technologies are not possible without fossil fuels. Yet. But we can get there it just takes time and patience and cooperation and science and funding. I think that’s what he meant.
Since when did we take science advice from sandies??
I thought that liberals were supposedly anti-racist.
