Friendly Koala Wants to be Picked up After Being Given Water

- After a 42C day, this koala, in the Adelaide Hills, was more than happy to be given a drink of water. Afterwards, it kept trying to be picked up. We think this one is a released ex rescue.

Don’t climb me, I have shorts on. Haa, Koala hugs aren’t as gentle as it looks
Yes it's a stingy hug...
Just look at the claws on that thing.
That little boy sounds like a girl, or is that girl? You never know these days
@@Y0utubeIsFuckingHomo How will the answer to this question help you personally or otherwise impact the video?
Sir Switch Crookington I cannot comprehend what made you think this comment was appropriate for a video of a koala bear trying to climb someone. You must be a fool.
People dont seem to understand that when I lift it, it hurts my hand. A 10 incher is tough to live with but wouldn't live without.
Well said👍 plus they can't simply pick him up because they could hurt him if there is injury on his body
No shit. I held one at a wild animal park in Australia to get my picture taken with one. It drew blood.
The HooliganHunter There’s a lady in Australia who takes care of a few Koalas and she carries them, one even gets onto her back and she’s holding another one on her hip. There’s a lot of wild animals who will climb all over you and they love attention too just like a pet at home. I’m sure it’s tempting to want to pick up this precious koala, I just have seen other videos of zoo trainers holding koalas but those koalas are much more healthier and well taken care of. This koala probably just wanted to feel safe. I hope they didn’t leave it alone after giving it water, I saw a busy street in this video.
Yeah, they need to read up on how Koalas will attack you during mating season.
No, that doesn't work like that. They are cute and fluffy and you will sacrifice your unworthy skin to hold this creature. 🤗🤗🤗🤗 Nah I'm joking, I get it. They look so cute though, I think I would have tried to hold it anyway lol.
why tf am I reading this comment section in an Australian accent
you caught me ajhdahsd
ME too. Pure empathy Mate from Canada.
Because you’re Australian
I was too 🤣🤣
Lmfaooo
It’s not a simple matter to pickup a koala, their claws are like razors they can cut you to the bone as they are very long, ppl in comments don’t get that, as cute as they may be they are also dangerous.
Wow I didn't know that.
Ok boomer

Geeze... yeah their claws are sharp.. they don’t understand that. Just need a hug to feel safe & love. 💕 🐨 💕 🐨
They're not babies. They're wild animals who shouldn't be this friendly to humans. Humans have to be the most dense species to ever been created.
@@cincybest they don't have many other options anymore, they're functionally extinct, human contact is inevitable. Don't be a dick, that's not a good personality trait.
@@cincybest Even they're wild, that is how their appearances to face the wild. Not because they're wild, human cannot do nothing about their extinction
Koalas are smooth brained, they are all lobotomites, they don't understand anything and see people as something climbable perhaps. Also, koalas get their water intake from leafs, female koalas never actually drink water.
They are completely useless in the ecosystem, as they taste like shit and are too toxic for predators to eat. They only eat eucalyptus of their choosing, and are picky enough that when they eat all the tastiest leafs, they simply won't eat the rest and starve to death. Them going extinct would simply be a natural selection catching up to an offensively useless animal, that sleeps for 22h a day.
Sandał Senpai this
I've held a koala. It's like handling dynamite. Hold or handle him wrong and he'll blow you the hell up.
From what I've seen, the problems happen when you are holding the Koala AND THEN it decides it hates you. You can't just drop them so they have some time to bitch and scratch.
😂 similar to cats
@@mspecas1 Yea, but you can drop a cat, unlike this useless creature.
Never pick a koala up if you dont wanna throw your clothings away, they are very cute but they smell not cute and they are sometimes very bitchy, but giving them water is always a nice experience, once i pet a sleeping koala and he was angry at me for waking him up, he simulated to attack me he hissed and showed me his crawles and turn back arround and fall back into sleep. I was like ok lesson learned, it was one of my first trips to aussieland to visit my family so i had a lot to learn about animals and the thousand ways they are able to hurt you bad or kill you instantly, i love australia ❤
@@blindsthedelulus how does it feel to be so miserable that you hate on your own species ?
I find it gutt wrenching that 1000s of these little furballs have literally burnt to death. Heart breaking 💔
More like 30% of the entire species but yeah I know what you mean :^(
Then please donate or at the very least, if you are not in a position to be able to donate a few dollars then spread the word that we need help desperately here in Australia. That kid is a credit to his family. Kind to animals, smart and funny. Excellent work, 'Straya!
How do you tell one of these from a dropbear before being attacked?
Great comment - was thinking same.

Koala: I've to gain control over this tree. It walks and gives me watter
Ppl forget that these cuties have sharp finger nails and unforgivingly strong grips they use to latch on to trees with. Let's not forget that many carry syphilis.
Chlamydia actually and it is not the human type!! You're only in trouble if you are a koala.
We r the syphilis actualy our nails cut a whole planet
My heart breaks for all of these beautiful creatures.
What a beautiful koala. Yes you need long trousers and long sleeves top on to take them into your arms. They are very special creatures and humans are lucky to share the planet with them. I do wish humans would all appreciate the wonderful animals and plants there are.
They are great. But as cuddly as koala bears look, it's not wise to pick one up even when wearing long sleeves and trousers, their sharp claws still tear through it
As cute as they are and as much as I'd love to hug one, I'd say their claws would cut ya to shreds
What are you a candy ass? Now go out and hug one so you won’t be labeled a coward, candy boy…
Killed by a cuteness overdose!
They REALLY are a national treasure...gees i love those little guys, and just hope not too many of them were hurt in the fires...I'm so glad I'm an Aussie...👍🇦🇺🐨
Love ya mate
Amen..you guys are blessed to have such cuties..and even though wild are trusting...sweet. I from America..we get the squirrels all over..but ok. I take care of stray cats outside too.
I’ve heard that 30% of the species have died in the fires already😔 if they manage to survive extinction, it’s going to take a long time for their numbers to get back to where they were
@@joyholmes254 😢🐨Hoping they become more again. Amen.
Bless you 🙏 I pray you're safe and sustained no injury or damage to your home as well.
Why not hold him and show love for a little bit?? He was begging n need. Thank u so much for giving him water. God bless u!
They are wild animals, they can accidentally scratch you and they can carry disease, so it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Having that much trust for humans can be deadly for some animals. As cute as it is, as are other animals it's best to not encourage it. Let them be wild.
But you don't give to him what he need more HUGS HUGS
You don't understand. You are used to seeing Koalas in Zoos etc.
Wild Koalas can be very vicious with those claws they have. This is very unusual behaviour for Koalas. The one above obviously has been half domesticated. Lived in the Trees near that property for some time. Didn't you hear the Girl. She said. "No don't come to me. I have shorts on." Those claws are sharp. Normal times try and touch a wild Koala if they even reveal themselves can be very dangerous.
If you look even those rescuing injured Koalas after the fires throw a rug over them before trying to catch them and take them where they can be helped.
They normally are not all that people friendly in the wild. Great to see they seem to understand 99..999% of Australians will help them in there time of need.
They have nasty claws like cats
He just wanted a hug saying thank you for the water If I life’d in Australia my house would be a koala bear house lol
Lived, not life'd.
Technically not 🐻 bears either. Marsupials closer to the Wombats 🧐.
Uhm they are cute but wild animals. With a lot of diseases
nick from96 I heard about that. They can carry aids But there cute to me lol
Same 🐨
Remember meeting an Aussie traveler in Canada one summer and we ended traveling together for a bit. Got a good laugh one time when he said, in signature Aussie accent, "a koala will rip your face off mate".

- Hugs.
- Water? Ok, here it is.
Awww. Best to wear protective gear for sure...that way they could have given her/ him what she/ he clearly desperately needed...a cuddle. Crying for this little one and all the ones that perished in the fires and that yearly struggle from humans encroaching on their habitats.

Wow I had no idea they had really sharp claws. Poor thing.

Alright, alright, they have very sharp claws, but can we talk about this kid in the background who has the gig of a lifetime
I'm always hearing about how "aggressive" they can be, and yet whenever I see them in videos, they seem sweet as can be.
Heard the same, that they were not that friendly.
So sweet! I am from Malaysia so sad to see a forest is burning down and kill many animals. Ihope it will end soon.

If koalas are friendly like that, you still can't make a 'human friendly' koala a beloved pet?
God bless you Thank You for CARING
Really nice kid you raised. Keep up the good work.
We all need to do our part to look after precious nature. These bears are just too cute for words and so are other animals out there.
Marsupials not Bears
Yeah, because Koalas have smooth brains, it's hard for them to comprehend things.
Australia, please protect these adorable and amazing animals!
well pick him up. he likes hugs and petting.
They have freaking sharp claws (thats how they climb),so you would not want those digging into your skin...+ ppl already said its illegal to pick them up unless they are in real danger
I would have died to do that. Unfortunately I do not live in Australia. If it climbs on you, then you're not picking them up right?

At the end of the day, its a wild animal and could carry disease.
Actually those poor animals ended up with Clamidia and we don't even know how a lot of koalas got that human disease it is thought through contact with humans. So if you love wild koalas let them be wild. Haven't we done enough to wild life already?
@@bellabear653 Amen.
He might need the connection, but I don't need the hospital visit.
Thank you for sharing this. Lovely seeing people behave well around a bewildered koala.
This Koala is such a cutie, so friendly and I think he's being grateful. Yeah I think so too.... that he is an ex rescue, was probably used to people cuddling him. Thanks so much for giving him water. I love the Aussie spirit, Thank you! Bless your heart! 💖💕🐨😘🤗
It goes to show how fragile and in need of our love and protection these creatures are with their loss of habitat and the devastation. Its the call for help and the fear these conditions bring about. Don't leave these creatures helpless and unprotected. Cherish them. One of the real natural treasures you Australians have.
They don't need humans love, humans are the worst thing put upon the earth. If anything humans need their love. Animals are pure!!
Sigh!! Stop it already with the cuteness!! Would someone please give this bundle
of cuddles some love!! I cant take it no more!!😁😁😁😁😁
Thank U for giving the Koala water but that is Jusy a short term fix, the Koala was obviously in suburbia, thirst y and near a road. There is always WIRES. Wildlife rescue RSPCA. To come out and check the. Welfare and or to relocate if they feel necessary ,👩❤️💋👩💕💙💜❤️💝🙏🙏
Such wonderful creatures... They always seem to be somewhat comfortable around humans. I know they're wild animals, but they truly seem to understand when someone means them no harm. Just another of God's miracles!

You can see one of the water containers are empty and the fur under it's chin is wet so it probably already had drank water. Plus the uploader was there so...
How sweet, he just wants to be 😍.
Thanks so much for giving this Koala water. 💖💖💖💕💕💕
0:40 "No, don't climb me, I have shorts on."
Omg pick him up! Don't be afraid he wants love!
For their protection it is illegal to touch or hold a Koala Bear in Australia.
Are you stupid?
As cute as they are koalas are wild animals. Human interaction is normally bad for them. Let them be wild because more often than not, we can unintentionally do them harm. They do bite and scratch, too. I adore koalas, but respect their wildness 🐨
AKIVE that’s fine but we still don’t need to touch them, they carry STDs and their claws are sharp enough to scratch without trying, that’s how they climb. It’s also illegal to pick them up
@AKIVE Agreed, but they're still wild animals and can hurt people if they try to handle them. Even the professionals say not to touch them. If they need help, you should wrap them in a blanket and transport them to a zoo or rescue. I'm not Australian, but have been there and the people said koalas generally don't like to be touched
This has to be one of the cutest Koalas that I've seen. I love them all!
