Agree. Alkan is nuts! Look at his more technically difficult like Le Preux or the stamina-inducing ones like his Concertos. It’s absolutely insane! Despite that nothing is impossible until you enter the zone of late romantic/contemporary music. Good luck ;)
Love these effects! I'm posting some Alkan as well soon, and was on the hunt for an easy Alkan piece but chose a different one. I completely overlooked this piece which would've been substantially easier to learn!
don't know where you are buddy but hey i would love to see more piano compositions soon. you seem like a huge potential to become a known youtuber for me :33
Harmonically pretty interesting. Form wise it’s really easy to understand as a listener, but the more I listen to Alkan I’m starting to understand why he isn’t all too famous. It’s just not terribly captivating. I love his Aesop’s feast etude though.
Ayo, I’m happy with this. It’s one of the nicer esquisses to be honest (not a great set tbh) and I’ve played this one myself (I know I’m a godlike pianist I can play Alkan, in fact I’m so good that I sightread it!!) which makes this kinda cool. So you know this composer Mereaux~
I'm watching the effects while listening to the music. I think that fiery explosions (which is what it looks like to me) does not fit the character of this music. I think a subtler animation would be more appropriate. That's just my opinion. Curious to hear what you'll record next!
I think you should play some works by anton rubinstein, very underrated composer, I suggest melody in f and his serenade in d minor, there's only one recording which is by godowsky
Yeeeeees Alkan is underrated. The notes are too dim and the particles are too bright, which interferes with distinguishing the notes. The vertical lines for each octave kinda looks apart with the saber which feels weird IMO. Also, maybe increasing the resolution may help. btw I think you should play more underrated pieces from Godowsky, Alkan, Liszt, William Byrd, Scarlatti, perhaps Sorabji, Handel, Thalberg, Cziffra, etc. If you have the skill, Finnisy might be a choice (it might be cringy tho while practicing) and actual John Cage music (not dat silence music but chance music)
Where has this guy gone? You are the right up there with traum

Alkan composed this while he was sleeping.
