On UA-cam he's having trouble making some of the videos profitable because he's expending so much money on them, either because the idea itself is expensive or because hiring people is expensive, while on Twitch, he can often just sit around and play video-games for 13 hours, which doesn't cost him any money.
      It's similar to Mr. Beast, he's using the easy and cheap content to fund, or help fund his more creative and expensive ideas for his YT videos, who in turn serve as publicity for himself and his Twitch streams.

    yeah i remember hearing something similar with mr. beast videos like most sponsors can't afford to pay for the spot in videos because that video will be watched by 100million - 300 million that have super high retention so he has to branch out and make other money ventures like the chocolate, and tech start ups. but even then some deals end up pretty bad like the mr.beast burger that never paid him a cent and had low QC from the online app. i imagine connor and other are similar like trying to make a clothing brand, shaving/ soap products, i'm kinda surprised other cities don't offer sponsor ship deals for the rv trips, biking series. i think the figure special do help out as well as the cafe ones. but most sponsor only want to do one video a month so when the schedule is like 5 - 10 video or more it's harder to keep it consistent but that is what the managers are for going out to fight for cool sponsors.

      It's not "can't" it's "won't", because google devalued the entire internet advertisement model. Rubbish advertisers would rather spend $1000 pushing gacha/dropship on 100's of low traffic channels so they get their middle-man cut than put that on a single influencer. Only really large sponsors of legitimate products are willing to pay big money, but they don't to put their ads on content that contains profanity or potentially disparages someone/something, especially in Japan.

      It's not a particularly great idea as the platform friction is insane. You know, honestly, I think it’s cool to put money and production into videos and stuff, but if I were a UA-camr, I don’t ever want to turn my channel into a business. To me, it’s a capture of my growth as a person and my life, and I feel like people value that connection above anything. I understand the appeal, but the starvation I have for watching people grow is just so deep that even good content doesn’t feel fulfilling after watching it sometimes.

    Not to throw shade at Connor but that just means you are not running your business efficiently. Times are fucking tough, and just like he said in the video everything is expensive. But if you are losing money that means you need to simply scale back. I mean we are on UA-cam, the most approachable way to create for the broadest range of audience. Some of the most popular channels are commentary like Mutahar or MoistCharlie, who just kinda turn on the camera and talk. That's not your style of video and that's fine, but even when you consider something absurd like MrBeast, he started off with videos that he could do and edit alone and upscaled to what he is now. How about closer to home, Connor himself, he used to do videos that realistically cost 0$ but required time and effort to record and edit of course. That's how EVERY UA-camr started. How about reverting step by step to that style of content? Until you are in the sweet spot where you make satisfactory content that pays for itself way easier.

    • @DexTag
      @DexTag 7 днів тому +5

      I think there is a misunderstanding due to the lack of explanation he can give, but also a lack of background knowledge (not calling you out, it's not like you are in the field).
      Connor is mostly a streamer (he is also a very large UA-camr, but the focus seems to be streaming). Saying he should scale back UA-cam is like telling a company to scale back ads because they only lose money with them, which is only true if you take an isolated look at them. Now videos are different as they generate their own revenue, but my point is that they don't just exist to make money on their own.
      What most streamers do is have someone run their UA-cam channel and they make all or most of the revenue of it, but don't have to deal with editing, thumbnails etc.
      If you want the sad reality, the main reason why a lot of channels can afford high quality editing while still making a big profit is because the editors are highly underpaid. Just for comparison, a professional thumbnail can quickly scale up in cost to 300-500$, per video. On the flipside, most artists take 20-30 or they have no customers. And with editing it's the same. Editing hours worth of footage down to 20 minute video can easily cost a couple thousand, but if you look for a cheap editor it will take a while, but you'll find one from a third world country that does the entire video for $300 (heck, some even go as low as 50-100). I don't think I need to explain why this is harmful.
      So in summary, if someone pays proper prices, the entire revenue of a 20-25 minute 1 million view video that was originally 5-10 hours of footage is just gone. But again, this only talks about that particular video, isolated from everything else.

      I think Connor is doing the main channel videos more for fun rather than for profit. I mean, he himself said it, he has other ways to make more money than doing the videos. If he really wanted more money, he'd rather just stream every single day and earn money through that but he doesn't. If he's itching to post the video without waiting for a sponsor, then I think that in itself is a reason enough that he does it for fun.

    • @Mara_1337
      @Mara_1337 6 днів тому

      Well, as an individual, he doesn't lose money. He still has a positive income.
      It's like some companies can carry through some side businesses bc the main business makes enough money.
      It is not inefficient in the sense that it is prestigeous and gives people a good impression of him and his content. You don't always shut down a department in your company because it's standalone net gain is in the minus.
      And with a sponsor, not even every single video might make red numbers.
      It generally creates eyes on him, garner fans who pay for other suff like subscriptions and merch or watch TT.... It's basically good for marketing.
      And probably also good for him mentally, because he has fun doing it.
      There are so many gaming streamers, if that was his only content it would possibly go stale for him and us. Investing in nice videos isn't a bad choice.

    • @invertebrado

      Thank god you are not a big figure from a big Company... Or at least I hope you aren't. The focus on not making money on every single upload equating to "cut the quality" is very bad, literally the reason why people hate big companies. His channel isn't his main form of revenue, it is instead a form of advertise his streams and brand.
      UA-cam give you money for successful videos and all, but like Crunchyroll putting anime on their yt channel, they want you to eventually engage with them in a more financial meaningful way. Or if that doesn't happen, your viewership or even word of mouth makes someone else notice him and then he gets money.

    You don't loose money by uploading content without a sponsor. If you can't get a sponsor and never upload the video, THEN you absolutely loose money and everything for that video goes to waste. At least if you upload it, you gain AdSense revenue, and depending how the video is structured, you can direct viewers to other content or platforms for addition interactions & revenue generation.
    If you spend all that money for a video and then you hold it back waiting for a sponsor that may or may not come, why make the video? If you put passion into it and you want your audience to see it and, more importantly, you want to build your audience by having new people see it, then releasing it should be the number one priority.
    I know AdSense doesn't pay the bills and sponsorships pay WAY more, but the video will do better without a sponsorship integration & you will make something on it and be able to show off work you are proud of, rather than never show it and end up actually loosing all that money spent.

      @@immortal_shrooms6757 The job came from passion. If he has no passion, he has no job. If he begins to only upload videos when he can get sponsors for them, then the passion is fleeting. Now that’s not the case clearly as he recently uploaded a crane video with no baked in sponsorship, but if he is as passionate about this video of his as he says he is, then holding out for a sponsorship is in my opinion the wrong idea. If a video is good, it’ll do the rounds, and like a mentioned, there are many other ways to earn revenue off a video aside from just a baked in sponsorship, and sometimes that can actually harm how a video does.
      Everyday the video sits unwatched in his hard drive is lost revenue. Could he get a sponsorship for the video eventually? Maybe, but depending on the video and financial circumstances, it may be better to start gaining some revenue from that video without a sponsorship, rather than waiting for one that might never happen.

    Use AI to subtitle instead of paying someone to do it. It might not be 100% accurate but they are 99% accurate.
