Regarding the mileage you can try this it worked for me, if you buy a new cluster, remove the back and take off the first circuit board behind the cover when you open it up, then do the same with your original cluster circuit board and swap them over, that has all the info and data of your car stored on it so everything should transfer over
Does anyone know, if I switch my w203 cluster with a "new" used one just to see if it works (like Mike did at the video), and then I switch back my factory one if it's going to work properly or it will be de-synchronized and I will loose my mileage ?
Super easy to figure video. Thanks Mike. Keep up to service MB as you can, to help other people to see that some things you can do it yourself. Waiting to see other videos of fixing your all Mercedes. Cheers.
I've seen videos saying to disconnect the battery 1 hour before doing this swap because you have to let all the modules go to sleep! It's possible that's why he had issues after installing the new one.
Just remove the control board off the back of the original instrument cluster and swap it over onto the new one and all the cars original data should be on it then. My lcd stopped working and thats what I did and it all was fine after the swap
Hey Good Evening Mike, I have a question about the W211 I have a 2006 Mercedes E-350 I have a question on I have no Heat in the car I need help diagnosing why. Can you help me
Hi Mike, I have a mercedes e-class w210, same problem my instrument cluster is not working, i have bought a new one on ebay, if I just change it like you did will the car start just like yours? Mine is older than your year 2000. Any thoughts?
I’ve never put in a different cluster. Just changed the bulbs and put thick rubber bands behind the mileage and temperature as teens when the got dim. I have no idea. Sorry!
I have a 2009 C300 Mercedes everything on the instrument panel works except the digital readout it comes and goes but I would like to know do I need to change that whole thing out and if I do how do I get the right mileage back? Did you have to go see someone with a computer to reset it?
I have a 2007 chrysler crossfire and i'm having cooling problems on it whenever the engine reaches its momal temperature it stays normal for 15 or 20 minutes then it tends overheath a little over the normal half temperature mark and my cooling fan does'nt seem to be turning on i've already checked my cooling fan by unpluging the coolant temperature sensor and its good so i would appreciate it very much what could be wrong with mi cooling system

That’s a dealer thing. Some models store the mileage in the ECU and a new instrument cluster will adapt, but in other models the dealer has to do it thru the star system.
Monkey Wrench Mike, send me an email and we’ll figure it out. Next week I’ll be moving from IL to NC, so it won’t be a good time, but after that we can make it happen.
Hi Mike. Did you managed to get the mileage correction done. I have the same issue, so what I did is remove the Eepron chip from the cluster (24c128) changed the mileage and the VIN number. I then wrote the new file back to the chip. I just did that now, so I will know tomorrow morning if all works.
@@stefaniecedeno Yes, it all worked fine! In Mikes case, because the new instrument cluster has a lower mileage, all he had to do is to sync the instrument cluster to the EIS (Electronic Ignition Switch). The mileage is written in two places. The Instrument Cluster and the EIS. When you swap one of the two, the one with the highest mileage (in this case the EIS) wins so the other takes the highest mileage.
Mine is lower thant the replacement cluster, idk what to do in that case. Also when i installed the new cluster all the lights turn on and doesn’t turn off, doesn’t work the speed. Idk if is the new cluster damaged or maybe I didn’t do something :(. Ps : sorry for my english.
@@stefaniecedeno In case the original cluster has a lower mileage than the replacement one, you need to zero or write a lower mileage on the new cluster. After you do this, the replacement cluster will sync with the EIS and the original mileage. Your replacement cluster is faulty!!!
What I said, take black plastic cover of back of cluster, you will see the plug socket is on its own board. This board you remove and swap original board back in. The mileage is stored on that board
You will need Star Diagnostics to correctly code all the right options and odometer into the replacement cluster. Fortunately as the donor cluster has a lower mileage than the car, you won’t need to use “developer mode” in order to program it correctly.
@@jonathanmoflori4915 did you try to open the circuit in the battery and wait like a 10 min and then maybe connect it again. Maybe could work. Did you try that?
