I love to see the Days of Thunder cars in an actual race. While filming the movie NASCAR wouldn't allow them to film unless the movie cars were in actual races. And Greg Sacks who was also the stunt driver for the 46 in the movie did really well in this race. And all the movie cars were built by Hendrick Motorsports.
Bobby Hamilton made his Winston Cup debut driving one of the movie cars in Phoenix, and had a pretty good run (started 5th and was leading late in that race before blowing an engine)
The cars are so beautiful yet very Boxy. Nascar went to a smaller Carburator plate it would have been very hard to pass a car. Especially that Rick Hendrix 25 Kodiak Chevy. Great race.
You said it well without saying it, the cars are too regulated on engines and transmissions, safety should be the specs, otherwise "guidelines "for motors. Sport has been spayed neutered and turned to a spec series, no Innovation
Sacks mentioned in the Documentary about the movie that he used this fact as a trivia question with his friends, who was the only driver to race in both 125-Mile Qualifying races in the same year for the same Daytona 500. Sacks was the guy who did it although, he was only in the races to get the necessary footage for the movie not to actually race his way in to the 500.

And that's why Greg got the ride in the #18 Slim Fast Chevy
@@bradkroboth5490 You're absolutely right. And I heard he didn't do too bad in that stint as well even though he didn't win any races.

Ken Schrader with the drilled out carburetor bolts letting more air into the engine!

The golden age of nascar now it's a lot slower because the average speed now is 180's and with a 49 sec laps on this track

Non disclosable agreement, I guess. Can't inform the viewers that they're filming a movie at the same time.
I did all the other drivers know that Sacks was running just for movie footage? Did he collect any purse $$$ for finishing second?
This was the Busch Clash, only 1st place got the money.
