    Thanks!. You forgot one thing, before you split it, you need to mark the two sides since both sides are balanced. That was when you put it all together it will come back balanced.

    0:33 One thing which helped me get the old part out was with angle grinder cutting into the old part including the rubber, until the only thing left on the driveshaft was the actual bearing itself. This made it 100x easier to get off because then when I was hammering it I was actually hammering the bearing itself out, and the rubber wasn't absorbing the impact like initially. Then to put the other one back in, use hammer again. I used 3/8 extension (The thingy used for the sockets on the wrench) to get it in/out) aim for the inner lip when re inserting.

    Others mentioned that the whole driveshaft is balanced so it will be smooth when at high speeds. So you must mark the splines on both sides of the shaft when you separate them so they can be put back together in the right balance after. As well he mentions very casually 10:29 that you need to put the center support bearing in the right way up. As in the larger part of the circle towards the body of the car. Just pay attention to how it was in before you take it out as it matters which way it is put in. If you put it in upside down it will vibrate at certain speeds.

      @Joshyodenn  3 роки тому +3

      Marking the driveshaft is a great thing to do for precaution and I would also recommend it, although on this car it's impossible to reassemble it incorrectly because 1 spline is bigger than the rest, therefore it only fits together one way on this specific model.

    What sound did it make? Like driling upon accemeration? had car on front ramps, and put flat tire underneath the engine. While reversing forgot tired it probably pushed engine, transmitting, or driveshaft up and now there was drilling sound upon acceleration...

    • @Joshyodenn

      usually the worst when accelerating, drilling sound or banging vibration on acceleration.

    Hey! Great video, just a quick question: Can you tell me the diameter of the pipe you used to put the bearing back on again?
    And one thing to mention: Always make a mark on the driveshaft in which positon the two pieces meet. Because the whole driveshaft is balanced and has these little weights welded on. If you accidentally flip it you may have vibrations.

    • @Patty-qy8qh
      @Patty-qy8qh 6 років тому +1

      Thank you, no problem! Just found the diameter of the bearing itself in the BMW parts catalog, inner diameter is 35mm, outer diameter 55mm. Ordered a piece of pipe with 36mm inside, should be a perfect fit! I am planning to do this tomorrow and get rid of some vibrations.

    • @Patty-qy8qh
      @Patty-qy8qh 5 років тому

      @Cherusci it worked like a charm. Unfortunately my bearing was in perfect condition and the vibration/resonance I experienced came from my set of summer wheels. I installed the rear M3 subframe bushings before and it seems these stiffer bushings transferred the vibrations to the body instead of the softer stock bushings absorbing them. Vibrations disappeared when I switched to my winter wheels.

    My E92 just started getting this vibration underneath the car, it seems to come from under the front seats and arm rest, just happens when driving over 40mph and accelerating, if I take my foot off the vibration stop.... the steering wheel and pedals don't shake at all.... any idea?

    • @TwiLuM
      @TwiLuM 4 роки тому

      Catalyst_YT not that I know of man mine was from 22-27 MPH and I replaced it and fixed it the only way to know for sure what is wrong is to get down there and have a look around if there isn’t any obvious showing (such as a warn out hanger bearing) or something loose. There is always a mechanic somewhere who will look at it. Make sure your car doesn’t need a tune up, I know it sounds crazy but I had what felt like transmission problems and I did a tune up as well and it fixed some issues

    BMW 328i is the worst vehicle that I have own!! Spent $15K for repair over 9 years including the transmission. Do not buy this crap and it will drain you financially. After owning BMW I do not know why BMW makes these vehicles where everything break down!! Will not drive one even I get free!!
