  • Watch what a Micro Wacky Rig looks like underwater. A Micro Wacky Drop Shot is also an extremely powerful tool for catching bass in all types of conditions. This lure is an excellent option when it seems like every other angler is throwing a traditional wacky rig.

    Glad to finally see someone else using a micro bait. I always look for something micro, because, where I fish, the size of your lure matters even more than the action.

    I love using a smaller wacky especially when conditions are tough. I've never put one on a drop shot before, though. I really need to try that one next time I head out! Great video, Steve!

      My friends in Minnesota fish a drop shot that way a lot. They always have one rigged up. Happy New Year!

    I’ve caught more crappies than bass on these micro wacky rigs😂. I typically go to a neko before I go micro because I catch a lot of kicker fish on the neko.

    • @SteveRogersOutdoors
      @SteveRogersOutdoors  9 місяців тому +1

      That Neko is a tremendous rig and yes, absolutely everything will hit that micro! I catch a pile of panfish on them too.

    I was considering going up to a 7” wacky rig to get away from the other anglers but now I’ll have try downsizing. Thanks

      I personally upsize rather than downsize! When it comes to lure size, I do the opposite of what everyone else does 👌

    Thank you for this reminder!!! I have in the past cut down a 5" down to 3" on a wacky rig when the bite is slow and it does work. With the TRD baits I have used an Owner 1/32oz Ultra Finesse jig with a #1 size hook which gives it just enough weight to get it down with a nice slow fall. If I want it to fall quicker I also have the 1/16 oz size that also works great!

      That is a great size! I've been working on a video with bigger lures but didn't get it finished before the winter got here up north. It will be on the list soon! Thanks so much for watching.

    Great video.. wacky rigs work so well in Florida but everyone has one on deck these days so going micro is the perfect alternative

      It seems like in the spring every angler on my lake has one tied on. That is definitely where the micro has helped me out. Thanks for watching!

      I don't know what size hook you are looking for but I use Victory 10768bn which is a 30degree jig hook with the owner screwlocks .I use the 1/0 for the 2.5 yamatanuki and zoom fluke Jr. Barlows tackle has the items described

    Happy New Year to you and your loved ones! You always have great content and you underwater videos are the best! The Japanese make some great small stick type baits that have high salt content and faster sink rate. Sawamura makes the Bullet a 3” bait that is a 1/4 oz. Radio Craft and Raid have like products. Zappu introduced the zero inch weighted Wacky Hook. Thanks for your videos 💯👍👏

    I make my own weighted wacky hooks using the do-it wacky hooks. I use round split shot and use a pair of scissors to open up shot I then put hook in and use pliers to crimp on hook.I then paint lead with nail polish(this helps fill in any gaps and secures shot to hook)the size 6 is perfect for the 3 in yum dinger or bps stiko

      @@SteveRogersOutdoors you are welcome .I like using the same style of hook for dropshoting. It allows me to snell the hook on instead of the Palomar knot.that do-it wacky jig hook really sticks the fish

    Good day out of south africa. I saw a video the other day on what coulers a bass can see. Thy broke it down to red green dark light an no blue. Dark is your black browns and purple ect. Light being white chartreuse orange ect. Can you mabe help with that pls. What coulers can a bass see? What does the experts say? Thank you sir

    • @SteveRogersOutdoors
      @SteveRogersOutdoors  9 місяців тому

      That is an excellent question. Those facts you listed are pretty accurate to what I have seen as well. In the last year, I have really focused more on lures that have a strong contrast to the background for a particular body of water. The brighter colors like white and chartreuse have been great choices for me because they stand out from the vegetated lakes I often fish. Here is a pretty informative article you might like. www.berkley-fishing.com/berkley-ae-color-do-bass-have-a-favorite

    Crazy banana color merthiolate pink white in central Florida clear lakes on a trick worm will out produce traditional colors 5 to 1 on certain days ive made so many of my new fishing friends switch to my colors after they see it work. Clearer the lake the better it seems to work

    • @SteveRogersOutdoors
      @SteveRogersOutdoors  9 місяців тому

      I agree. I have spent way more time with brighter colors in the last couple of years and have not been disappointed at all. And definitely, the really clear water has been a great place to use them. Happy New Year!

    Do the trds sink when rigged on a weightless wacky?

    • @SteveRogersOutdoors
      @SteveRogersOutdoors  9 місяців тому +1

      They do very slowly. Those first underwater images were a weightless TRD. They spiral down almost like a super light tube.
