Probably because the song is emotionfull and the sadness in his voice makes you feel the emotion similiar to a nostalgia.

When his voice is a little lower and the accent is more audible, it breaks my heart good. This sounds amazing.
I prefer the normal one, it's fast, makes you feel truly nauseous and blank inside your mind, everything is going so fast, no time to think, all you can think of is doing what is told, right then and there, you have no time to breathe
That's a good representation of it's pace actually, Angel is forced to do everything at once for hours regularly, he does not have enough time to truly process everything since all he does is cope through it

I challenge you to go through your favorite songs and try slowing them down a little. It doesn't always work but for most songs it really changes things in a great way.
Not to mention most radio edits are sped up so you may even be listening to the song the way it was intended if you slow it down.

WOW. This is awesome. I saw one guy comment that the original reflects drug use better, and I agree, but I do have to give it to you, this sounds really good! If it's not in the context of the show and you interpret the song in a different way, like maybe the "poison" is a toxic person you're in love with or something, then it is actually really amazing how well it fits.

Yet At The Same Time It’s More Moving Than Most Songs On The Radio Which Pretty Much Exist Because They Can. He Feels Forced Into The Things He Liked Doing. Hence “You’re Feeding Me Poison, I Can’t Help But Swallow.” Abuse Can Make You Feel Trapped, But Abusive Bosses Are Worse.
