STALEMATE || Death Note Musical Animatic (WIP!)

- i've been a fan of the death note musical since mother frickin 2019 and i did this animatic for it in 2021, originally for class! I'd love to finish it someday; I don't have access to the program I was using to finish it sadly, but even so.
Sorry for the abrupt end to it! Also, this like so blatantly isn't what's happening in the musical, I just took some artistic liberties and was playing in the space of my silly little death note redo au thing (basically an updated and gayer adaptation of the story, and set in america to play with themes of individual exceptionism, blah blah blah. i should make like a little link for that too cause i have character designs and everything lmaoooo)

I LOVE that you made L look like a scrungly 25 year old English NEET. He's very twinky in the manga and anime but this is so excellent! Wonderful adaptation! The part where it turns from a toast to them holding knives against each others' throats??? 11/10 holy shit I gasped outloud
this is so cool! I love how you redesigned the characters, they look unique in their own way but you can still clearly tell who they represent and get a lot of their personality just by how they look, and the part with the knifes is such an amazing addition
Oh I love this!!! I love how Light and L walk around in their respective colors as they analyze their first meeting, like seeing it from an outside eye as they go through the motions of a polite introduction
I am kicking my feet at the blue and orange "thoughts" of light and L. Exactly how i would want it acted out in a show!!
This is so good???? Wow I especially love the bit where they clink their glasses (idk how to say that in English lol) and then circle each other with knives and stuff. It really encapsulates their relationship! Loved every part of this animatic, can’t wait for it to be finished one day maybe!

All jokes aside, brilliantly done. I also appreciate how you've taken a different approach to their meeting. Whereas the musical set the song where they meet in the university and you've gone for something very unique.

This is criminally underrated. It's really excellent.
I also really like your interpretation, it makes things flow really well in a way that they don't in many other animatics of this song. The first verse where it goes from the POV of L talking to Light's dad, to the POV of Light's internal monologue after meeting L, is really hard to pull together in a visual format in a way that makes sense - but you pulled it off. Really cool stuff.
Really really great! The way their color coded spirits seem to walk around and interact with things to show how theyre thinking, the color scheme from the show, The way light looks so innocent except when he is thinking about things, very Light-like... The way L almost seems to know that Light's spirit is inspecting him as they shake hands... Incredible. love the work. Keep it up.
THE DAGGERS KILLED ME- I CAN'T RECOVER-
I really like the dynamism of many shots, for example, the way Light and L rotate on 1:54 and the way Misa outstretches her hand and the camera moves with this motion on 2:28 ! The characters look so nice in your artstyle, I love how Light and L have distinctly different faces. Also, that transition from Misa's room to her standing on a scene is fire! Superstar Misa Amane is very precious to me.

the poses, the expressions, the fact that you made L *look his actual age*, adding in Misa's section, Sochiro's look of shock when L says Light could be Kira- all of it was AMAZING :D
