Considering this thing sort of looks like a surveillance van, I'm surprised that they didn't squeeze a repaint of this into the movie line as a Sector 7 van.
Nah it’d have to be remolded. Idk anyone who’s by that as a movie toy lol
@@longlost3286 have you seen some of the movie repaint toys they did, they repainted Energon Scouts for the movie line lol
@@mariodude345yeah, i remember seeing a bunch of Energon & Cybertron toys recolored for the movie line
Actually I remember owning 3 Cybertron recolors and 1 Energon recolor, though now i only have one of the Cybertron recolors
That self-contained Powerlinx mode... Would that be the Cybertronian equivalent of a centaur?
Wave Sine *Cybertronian furry thoughts ensue*
***** or dinobots or any other animal type formers
***** The premise doesn't fully qualify since in essence they're robotic animals with techy alt modes. Seeing of course that furries are in more essence, people who believe they are animal spirits trapped in human forms, thus Towline. But yes I do know BM noble/savage but seeing it's from beast to other beast with no robot mode it's still not furry enough lol
GothCuki Yep and tigatron too since they spend more time in beast mode. but other beastormers do not usually see themselves as more animal than robot so again, not furry enough lol. now why doesn't PETA protest outside the Axalon??

Energon Tow-Line: The first Cybertronian centaur.
Sorta waiting for a Mr. Universe repaint of that.
Thew Adams already made the Greg Universe reference in his review...
I want that sooo bad.
i think you forgot to flipout the back panel to coverup the robot parts on the back of the van mode. the blue piece on the back of the platform.
Absolutely one of my favorite figures from the Energon line.
Would you buy one if possible?( please note I'm just asking, not selling)
In my collection he's actually called Headline (I renamed him that because when I think Tow-line, I think something connected to towing, which he doesn't do), an embedded war journalist for the Autobots. The Powerlinx platform allows him to go over terrain he normally couldn't walk or drive through. His little module thing can even form a sort of Cybertronian camera, with the scoop thing becoming the viewfinder.
That is a great name for him. He is a news/TV van after all.
@@joshuahough8265 And he turns into the top half of a Powerlinx, so he has his head whether combined or not. It all just flowed into place.
The A-team van was my first thought
oh gee, this was another one of my earlier transformers. might have to buy it on eBay for nostalgia.
This toy should be repainted to be the Transformers Crossovers A-Team Van / B.A. Baracus figure. I pitty the fool who doesn't think this is an awesome idea. LOL.
There *is* a panel that flips up to cover all the robot mode junk in the back.
Well, there is technically a TFWiki page on partforming, however, to call it minimalist would be too generous
That being said, I generally define a true partformer as a Transformer that needs to be disassembled and reassembled to form both modes, and losing one part means that neither mode can be properly formed.
In a similar vein to this, I'd love to see what you'd consider your most "shellformer"-y Transformer. Not specifically a request, just something to think about. Anyway cheers for the continuous videos lately.
wee1owen12 He did do that black version of Big Convoy once, hpefully there's a shellformer that can fit this format in his collectoin :)
***** And so back heavy I can't get the thing to stand.
many Beast wars Neo/II toys can make the shellformer list.
Break is the one that comes to mind.
First I've heard of it. Next time I come across it I'll take a look. Thanks.
The back door to the vehicle mode is actually folded into the base. It actually does fill in that gap in the back.
Still waiting on that good titanium review
I remember having this figure. Really awesome. Turning into and Ironhide and Ratchet was a brilliant idea. Also, the back doors of the van flip out to cover the robot junk in vehicle mode.
Now THIS is the Ironhide mold Shattered Glass Soundwave should've been made from...
Could you review a shell former that works?
When this is one of your two powerlinx figures as a child, you realize that you missed out. A lot.
FYI, you also missed the back of the van. The blue fold up part at the back moves for a weird, unpainted door/window thing.
I had Hotshot, Ironhide, BOTH Jetfires, Inferno, and Optimus Prime
"FRANKYYYYYYY KENTAROOOOSS!!!!!!!!!"
Is what one can imagine.
Love all the different variants of the intro. :D
Oh and I've never heard of the Powerlinx gimmick, I'd love to see more of those toys.
I have this guy and have so much fun with him making all kinds of cool custom modes with him. Linked up really good with Downshift too
tow line was re painted into ironhide from g1 for botcon
11:51 Wow, they've taken empurata to a whole new level.
You should do more plastic addicts
He's like a robotic centaur in his self power link mode
You should review your favorite shell-former!
I would've loved to have this back in my time when I was a collector, was interesting to see a review from you about it. That darn transparent plastic, as bad as a certain type of rubber, commonly used for rubber wheels and some paint that just breaks off after time, really wish that they haven't used that.
It's sad that they never did Ratchet/Ironhide with that mold, would've been fantastic to see, also what do you mean with better Ratchet/Ironhide ? I haven't really been active in the series since I stopped, but the last I remember is universe making a toy of it which wasn't that good and had many problems(like all the part splits showing up in vehicle mode and robot mode having a head that goes down).
This in fact was made into a ratchet and Ironhide both. Botcon did it one year
Nice, I love this mold. I keep recommending people to get him.
He's the cybertronian storm chaser that came to earth to chase earth's "exotic" storms and other weather
FYI The rear doors do fold up to cover the back end in vehicle mode. :)
I always took him for a futuristic RV. The stuff on top was just future tech and a satellite receiver for campers.
oh look its a cybertronian centaur!
The self-Powerlink mode works better as a mid-way transformation than a super mode in my opinion. Meaning he'd go from vehicle mode, to that, then robot mode.
I really hope you do RID Magnus and Prime someday. I actually just got them in the mail today, and I noticed that they seem to be missing from the history of most of my subscriptions. I think these are far too interesting and versatile to be so underrepresented by the big reviewers here.
TJ, I believe that weapon is supposed to be a sniper rifle. The large rectangle at the end is likely the muzzle brake, while the radar dish is the scope.
Am i the only one that would really liked to see him in the Energon show?
The "Nightmare Scorpion Centaur Van Mode"
I love seeing non show figures get reviewed like Tow-line. You can never say they were show inaccurate. For the next review you should review one of the mincon 3 packs from Armada, like Preceptor. Did you know the first female combiner was a Preceptor repaint? Looks like Victorion got here to LITTLE to late. Puns.
easily one of my favourite toys i own
Hey look it's Greg universe if he were a transformer!
Sora Song
He didn’t send me but I watched that video first.
Sora Song
Yes.
He looks like he's had his legs blown off by a damn, dirty Decepticon and now has to have a tank...chair thing.
It's plain out goofy, but it's kinda neat honestly.
So that's what this guy's name is! Got him from a thrift store.
Fun Pub could totally repain this into the A-team van, and give it a B.A. Baracus style head.
Can you please review your favorite Megatron?
Also, do you think the Energon combiner joints will shatter eventually?
Here in 2024 to say welcome back tow line, your spirit lives on in the EarthSpark Warrior Class Combine & Ride toys :)
Is there a version of this that replaces the white and blue of the vehicle mode with black? *Cue 80's action TV show theme song*
this guy would work as Ironhide but maby more bulk
I actually like this figure. i never had it but it adds so much. i mean sure the lower leg thing of the powerlinx gimmick is crazy...but from an objective standpoint and to fit with the transformers lore, it actually adds a lot to the figures you already have. i mean look at it this way...you can have him powerlink with two transformers at once, or himself, and give the figures that use the lower legs some good "mobility and speed" i mean this thing is awesome. i wish i had this guy. but he was never sold where i lived at the time. him, downshift, and roadblock were never sold where i lived. i missed out on so much. i had the original four but that was it.
The Chunk of Towline chunk of his van is his pant mode, I would besides to make a custom pant mode of Towline.
Dude. That Autobot is a centaur. o -O
Part former? Kreo
Tj theres a panel on the back of the base that flips up to be the back of the van
You forgot to flip up the back panel in vehicle mode, causing robo kibble.
He's not the 'best', but he's not that bad IMHO. Interesting design, and for me at least he's fun to play with. :)
Can you do a Triple(+) changer?
hypothetically, could you strip the paint off of the ladder bits with a little acetone and a cotton swab, or would that damage the plastic?
Looking at Tow Line's colour scheme it reminds me a whole lot of G1 Thunderclash's so I wonder if the way both the vehicle and robot modes are coloured as also homages Thunderclash in that way too? If not then this is at least a fun way to re- purpose him as being a sort of Classics Thunderclash in your collection.
Speaking of RID, I'd love to see you review RID optimus prime. He was The second prime I owned (the first being the original G1 prime though I lost him in my pool in the middle of winter and when I got him back...he was missing his head...yeah I was like 5 at the time.). Though I loved the RID prime because of his armored mode. I;d like to see what your opinion is of him and his "armor" gimmick.
TJOmega Hey TJ, are the huge Armada Prime combiner sections compatible with Energon deluxes
I actually have Thunder Clash vibes. So I'll repeat the gag...
# Thunder Clash is on the move
Thunder Clash is loose! #
# Feel the magic, hear the roar
Thunder Clash is loose! #
# Thunder, Thunder, Thunder, Thunder Clash! #
Armada Wheeljack gave us a g1 homage to sodeswipe, Energon Towline gave us a g1 homage to the van boys, is there a cybertron toy that homages a g1 toy?
what happened to your livestreams TJ? I miss getting to talk with you. it was interesting.
I really like Tow-Line. I personally find his "battle platform" more interesting than G1 Ironhide's/Ratchet's, I find it really cool that he can Powerlink with himself, and I just like his design in both modes in general.
I mean, I'd never buy him. Thanks to you, I've made a decision to avoid Transformers with heavily-stressed translucent plastic like the plague. But, like, the translucent plastic is the only reason I wouldn't personally put him on my wish-list.
The "scoop" on the gun is just supposed to be a muzzlebreak. They're not rare by any means on sniper rifles, which that gun was clearly trying to be...
That centaur mode...
Can you transform him from Power link into van mode without removing parts?
Could a combiner like devastator be considered a part former you got have the part to transform it. if not I guess the kre-o line or armada unicorn?
so you could combine two of the "battle platforms" if you had them?
man i wish i could have afforded the deluxe figures when i was a kid
With the weapon on top of the van mode it looks like the rust bucket from ben 10.
TJOmega do you have anything from the live action movie line? Even the promo Optimus and Starscream? If not, any version of Unicron?
Hey tjomega can you pleas review of a final form ride figure for random review
How about your favorite figure from the WFC/FOC video games?
I think we he is the son of Prime from that series. He does resemble him a bit too much for the joke not to work.
He has a centaur mode.
He is the A-Team Van lol
Please someone do a custom repaint of this so that the vehicle mode looks like the A team van!!
oy!! Omega!! i have a challenge for ya, you must review a combiner, your choices are energon PROPER POWERLINX, meaning review 2 figures, a optimus with a super mode (still counts) or a minicon set (must be weapon set of choice)
the challenge has been made and the difficulty is set, what'll it be omega, hard mode energon or easy mode minicon
jk i mean no disrespect i just want to test you limit (p.s. you can do TJ reviews if ya want, its not restricted to random review)
I almost broke the head because i didn’t know about the sliding rail
TJ Omega, Why Does Powerlink Tow-Line Have No Legs?
Is there a leg mode for this guy?
the van mode reminds me of greg universe's van from steven universe
plz do something from the generations line plz
Tj there is a flap that folds up in the back
My opinion this is one of better toys in energon like inferno and Megatron
Does Towline have a pants mode?
Kaleb Staunton Nope, the chunk of his van left over is his pants mode.
however, you probably could fanmode pants form the actual "towline" part, but it probably be the worse pair of pants ever seen.
Well, maybe, but nothing could be worse than Energon Optimus's (the deluxe) pants mode
+Kaleb Staunton He only has shirt mode, he's too small to support any character in pants mode
Let me drive my van into your heart
Anyone noticed that tj mistransformed the toy in vehicle mode?
He looks like a robot Centaur.
Centaur mode!
That was my first ever transformer
Energon Landmine i believe also can powerlink with himself
Kaleb Staunton I believe they called that a brute mode, since he doesn't have the Powerlinx connectors he technically doesn't apply to that gimmick.
TJOmega Ah. Thanks, it's been yeeeeeaaarssss since I touched my Energon toys rotting away in my storage compartment.
KwableGuy so can bulkhead
If you're looking for another kind-of laidback series, have you considered doing some videos explaining the terminology common to the fandom?
Yes, one can always go to tfwiki.net of course, but you've got enough fans that would want to hear your input on such things in addition to what the general consensus of the fandom states, and you've got some non-TF fans that still might be interested in the terminology.
Also... does a Power-linxed Tow-Line make anyone else think of Steve Urkel due to its proportions? ;)
So he's Thunderclash's little brother?
Being that he splits apart like that he's not only the only Deluxe Autobot who can power link with himself but he's also the only one who can power link with two Autobots at the same time. Also I don't get why this guy is called Tow-Line when he's not a Tow-Truck. That name should never be used on anything that can't tow anything.
does he not have a pant mode?
No parking means no p- wait wrong Tow-Line
update, there is officially a tfwiki page for partformers now
tfwiki.net/wiki/Partformer
To me the "dark beige" looks more like an off olive green. But, that's just me.
