    That sinkhole is AMAZING. It reminds me of the entrance to Natural Bridge Caverns in Texas, it even has a little 'natural bridge.' I bet, with a little excavation, you'll find something awesome there. The fact that it sank deep enough to expose the former roof of the cave seems to me to suggest there was once a VERY large cavity. I have a really good feeling about that site.

    WOW! Awesome cave teaser video, can't wait until you get back and explore these caves. I'm really surprised you didn't go deeper into the first one, considering the land owner knew where you were explunking. Must have been really cold air blowing out of there!

    I LOVE how excited you get about a frost covered hole in the ground. You deserve to find a huge cave system full of Spanish gold. Or Bigfoot traces. With Bigfoot artefacts ....or something spectacular and special. I so look forward to your videos. For me they are almost like travelogues, I get to see what your part of the country is like, you tell the history, give details about flora & fauna ( maybe Sasquatch) and keep my interest in detecting going - even if mine is 99% clearing the ground of cans, bottle caps, ring pulls and nails...
    I thought the water was milky due to the lime in the stones? The limey water would kill the turtles? Maybe it is a turtle graveyard? Like the legendary elephant graveyards? I loved this video. Thankyou!

    That bar you picked up is a Chrysler torsion bar(front suspension) that people especially in the 60's and 70's cut off and made pry bars out of for many use's.

    • @amandapittar9398
      @amandapittar9398 5 років тому

      eric , what Chigg needs is the 21stC equivalent of a chimney sweep boy. A nimble skinny small child, (in a full wetsuit, I suppose, and gloves and a torch, damned child labour laws) with a rope/harness around them to squash down the holes to see what is there. You could wire them up with a GoPro too. That would save time and money on the digs. I’m sure you can buy them in America......

      If you ask people who actually go caving, spelunking is the derogatory term for stupid or unprepared cave trips. So you are quite correct.

    That first hole, and the big hole- the moss growing in the entrances is gorgeous! I never realized until I started watching your videos, that the wildlife of New England, my home, is terribly deprived of caves (bad for the raccoons, good for the turtles.)Great video, thanks for posting! Much as I love your caving, am looking forward to warmer weather when you'll be back in the water!

      There are a great deal more subterranean features out your way than you might think... most times they don’t make it into the public awareness because in order to protect them and the critters that live in them, it’s important to keep them secret and not doxx Mother Nature, as it were. But rest assured, they’re out there. ‘specially the Appalachians and upstate ny... lots and lots. There are even some pretty neat public “sacrifice “ caves (ones made public to allow visitors in order to preserve the other caves and caverns in a given area), a good google search should point you in the right direction.

    Beau ! If I was you I would carefully consider those caves. The rocks that make up that area of limestone seem to be very jointed and susceptible to collapsing. Those caves are not overly olde or large but there are far to many sink holes indicating frequent roof falls. Those caverns that have collapsed are not overly large. Tells me that that area is unstable be careful. I would miss you mate LOL.

    I know a guy who had a beautiful pond put in on his property. The pond was maybe 3/4-1 acre in size. One day, the pond was mysteriously gone. There was a hole at the bottom, maybe 2’ in diameter. He filled it in several times, but it was a bottomless pit. Eventually he filled the pond with brush, old trees and stuff to keep people from going down in it. I always wanted to explore it.

    • @JayDeeFrm7400
      @JayDeeFrm7400 Рік тому

      You should plan on going back and seeing if you can dig it out might have to move some brush and stuff but with that being said there has to be a multitude of massive passages for 3/4 of an acre of water to drain overnight, sounds like it’s got huge potential for sure i wish I lived near by to join 😅
